introduction Research was taken over 12 weeks to compile this booklet from previous assignments. The first assignment focused on Post War International Style (194570), it consisted of a poster including a timeline and information about six furniture designers and a communications designer Massimo Vignelli. This task gave us an understanding of the period, the historic influences on design, politics, economics and a greater knowledge of renown designers within that period. The second assignment was an academic essay if chosen designer: Arne Jacobsen. This essay consisted of research within the functionalist movement and where Jacobsen fit within that. The essay related Jacobsen’s architecture and furniture design to this movement and how architecture and furniture design were related in his career. The final assignment was to develop a booklet explaining the life and career of Arne Jacobsen, this helped gain more of an understanding of his work to then develop my own piece of furniture influenced by Jacobsen’s design.
