Welcome to The Bowgie Inn Ale & Cider Festival 2015 This is a four day spectacular of real ale and ciders, live music, yummy food and entertainment, all in support of Cornwal Hospice Care. From 28th-31st August, our unbeatable location on West Pentire Headland has been transformed into a mini festival site, with stunning views over the white sands of Crantock beach and the Gannel. We don’t think there’s a better spot to enjoy over 60 different ales and ciders plus an array of bands and musicians to suit all ages and tastes. Not only that, there are games and plenty of activities to entertain the kids. So without further ado, head to the bar and commence a weekend of beer, food, music, fun and games - it’s for a good cause too! Sally and Andy Pickles

A West Coast style pale ale brewed with American-sourced hops. Pine and tropical fruits on the nose, more pine on the tongue followed by a quick, sharp, bitter finish.

St Austell Brewery 3.9%

Lord Marples pours a dark amber. Aromas of light toffee and caramel. Flavours are a mix of soft floral and spicy hop and a smooth bitter finish.

Dark Ale

Brewed with a mix of pale ale, chocolate and crystal malts and hopped with Goldings, Challenger and Brewers Gold, it is dark mahogany-brown in colour. Lush rich aromas of toffee, treacle, Mocha coffee, vinous fruit and chocolate swirl above the glass.

20. Milk Street Funky Monkey Milk Street Brewery 4.0% Copper Ale In the glass, the Funky Monkey is a copper-coloured little chap with tints of gold and orange. The nose features toffee, a soft pliant sort of toffee that also veers towards fudge, along with a juicy burst of orange blossom sweetness. On the palate there’s more of the juicy, orange blossom sweetness, which makes for a thirst-quenching fruitiness.

An all malt grist, loads of fresh whole hops and a classic open fermentation give Coaster the ability to impress the unaccustomed and to delight the regular drinker every time. Coaster is wonderfully flavoursome and highly popular with our customers.

33. Point Break Sharp’s 4.6% Blonde Ale

Very pale straw in colour with a thick and creamy head. The aroma will be clean and herbal hops with sweet citrus fruit. Smooth and sweet on the palate with a clean and moreish finish. Made of extra pale malt along with torrefied wheat, hopped with East Kent Goldings and Chinook.

The aroma is an accomplished balance of spicy resinous hop, inviting sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a perfectly balanced and complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malty notes and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The bitterness remains into the finish with dry fruity notes which implore the drinker to go back for more.

Fruity, roasted malt notes and a generous hop bitterness. The Special Bitter is a classic English style of beer, copied all over the world. Sharp’s Special is a superb example of how to get the style just right. At 5% ABV the drinker is looking for something with substance and depth but without sacrificing balance and drinkability.

A traditional cider, full apple flavours, with a pleasant bite and finish. Fermented straight from fresh apple juice with wild yeasts, this is proper cider.

Cornwall Hospice Care is a leading independent Cornish charity (registered charity number 1113140), providing special care free of charge, to patients with life limiting illnesses aged 18 and over at two Cornwall based hospices - Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle. The nursing teams care for people with a range of illnesses from cancer to heart and lung disease and Motor Neurone disease. The generosity of the public is vital so the care for people across Cornwall is maintained at no charge to them. Every penny counts and every penny is spent supporting the adult hospices in Cornwall, for Cornwall.

The Bowgie are proud supporters of Cornwall Hospice Care, with Owner/ Manager, Sally Pickles, not only fundraising with various pub events, but also her own, personal expeditions which have included treks to Everest Base Camp, Mount Kilimanjaro and in 2016, a Sahara Desert Trek. Our Ale and Cider Festival is now in its third year and we welcome you to a four day extravaganza of live music, ale and cider tasting, pasties, fun and games. Donations from all beer and cider consumed over the event, sales of Ale Festival merchandise, games and musician/ band fees will all be donated to Cornwall Hospice Care so please show your support as every penny makes a difference! If you’re keen to stay involved after the weekend, make sure Friday 25th September is in your diary because it’s Friday Night Revisited at The Bowgie, on Saturday 12th

December it’s time to get glam for James Bond Night and on New Year’s Eve, we’re partying with Not the Beatles. These events are not only great fun, but help fundraise even further for Cornwall Hospice Care. We want to thank our generous customers for their continued support... you’re all awesome.
