Keep your electricity flowing & business growing
Uninterrupted power supply is the goal of every power transmission and distribution company, but many problems lie in the path of achieving it. These problems can lead to unnecessary shutdowns, and can cause huge monetary and man-hour losses. To help power companies achieve highest efficiency, FLIR brings a wide range of thermal imaging cameras and T&M products.
Substation Thermal Image
FLIR’s wide range of products for predictive and preventive maintenance These products help in detecting hot spots from a safe distance, avoiding unwanted shutdowns, identifying hazardous SF6 gas leakage, monitoring high voltage electrical substations continuously from remote location, etc.

From the President’s Desk
Dear Friends At the outset, I thank all stake holders of the 14th edition of ELECRAMA for its super success. With over 1,370 exhibitors showcasing their products and services, Elecrama 2020 proved its credentials as the biggest show of electrical and electronics in T&D space in the world. The concurrent events also received huge response with quality speakers & audience from all over the World. We also received great patronage from Central & State Governments in terms of their top-level participation in various events. Of this, Energy sector alone comprises of Rs 24 trillion with other sectors such as Railways, Ports, Airports, Telecom, Rural & Agri infrastructure also getting major share of investment. States play a key role in making the schemes a success or failure as the entire distribution set up is under them. Power being a concurrent subject, states buy -in of various policies is imperative for the sector to grow. For the domestic policies to work well, not only should there be synergy between various ministries such as Coal, New & Renewable Energy, Power & Petroleum & Natural Gas, but also State governments must be on board. There is a strong need in fact to institutionalize energy policy coordination through a national energy policy framework. When everyone can come on board for a critical tax reforms structure, the same could be done for energy sector too. Through this forum, we appeal to Central & State governments to take next steps on above for a thorough turnaround & up liftment of industry. By the time, you receive this edition of IEEMA journal, union budget for the year would have been announced. We remain hopeful of another set of reforms to aid economic growth in general & power sector in particular. Let us keep ourselves ready from industry side to meet the opportunities coming out of new technologies & structural changes coming in the economy & be part of its growth story. With Best Complements,

IEEMA presented its views to the Commerce Ministry on numerous critical issues concerning the power sector
12
The world’s electric economy is currently witnessing transition from a large-centralized power system to a much diverse and distributed power supply system. Lack of energy access, unexpected utility power outages, power quality problems, and increase in power costs are the reasons majorly attributing to the localization of energy generation and growth of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) across globe. Renewables are deeply penetrating the power sector and are replacing the fossil fuel-based generation. Electric vehicles are growing faster and replacing combustion-based vehicles.
