From the President’s Desk

Dear Friends, The Budget presented by the Union Finance Minister demonstrates government’s intent to focus on demand generation, spurring jobs, increase infrastructure spend and attract foreign institutional investors. Hon’ble Finance Minister announced about the Central Government’s intention to provide a push for solarization of farms and proposed support to the farmers for setting up solar powered pumps and grid connected solar plants on barren lands owned by them. It is expected that sale of power generated from the farmers’ solar power plants through the grid would provide additional income to the them, thereby acting as third crop for farmers. The budget has major fund allocation for infrastructure, warehousing and improved logistics through rail, land and air. This would allow manufacturers to strengthen the business footprint domestically, in line with international best practices which will make India more competitive globally in the years to come. Acknowledging India’s best effort commitments to the Paris Agreement signed in 2015, the FM has recommended that the concerned power utilities close old thermal power plants having high carbon emissions than permitted. It was also heartening to hear about inclusion of new Power generation plants also in the concessional corporate WD[DWLRQ UDWH # 7KH ZD\ IRUZDUG LV WR GLVPDQWOH ROG LQHIÀFLHQW SRZHU SODQWV DQG UHSODFH WKHP ZLWK QHZ capacities that incorporate latest super critical technologies (Advanced Ultra Super Critical) as they offer higher HIÀFLHQF\ ORZHU HPLVVLRQV Budget also announced roll out of prepaid smart meters on national level which is transformative indeed for WKH ODFNOXVWUH ÀQDQFHV RI ',6&206 :KLOH WKLV LV D JRRG PHDVXUH KRZHYHU WKLV DORQH LV QRW VXIÀFLHQW ZH QHHG PDQ\ PRUH FRPSUHKHQVLYH PHDVXUHV WRZDUGV LPSURYLQJ VWDWH RI DLOLQJ 'LVWULEXWLRQ VHJPHQW LQ WKH FRXQWU\ WKURXJK QHZ WDULII SROLF\ UHJXODWLRQV WR LQVWLO ÀQDQFLDO GLVFLSOLQH DW VWDWH RZQHG SRZHU GLVWULEXWLRQ FRPSDQLHV 7KLV PLJKW DOVR QHHG DPHQGPHQWV WR &RPSDQLHV $FW ZKLFK VKRXOG EH SXUVXHG RQ SULRULW\ :H DUH UDLVLQJ WKHVH points in every possible forum, hoping for a quick action from Govt. Industrial organizations in India are adopting the global standards and the processes are also getting streamlined with the core motive of enhanced safety for operator while keeping the integrity of the plant of machinery and ensuring the continuous operation of the process plant. As a result of the this drive which not only ensures the safety in plant but also improves the overall productivity, the installation procedures as well as standards such as IEC 60204 (IEC standard for Machine Safety) or IEC 60364 (IEC Standard for low voltage electric installations) are gaining popularity & compliance in industrial segment.

Macroeconomic and transformative forces are altering the global dynamics, with many countries experiencing structural changes. These changes are driven by the ‘mega trends’ viz. urbanization & demographic shift, climate change and technology & digitalization.
