Keep your electricity flowing & business growing
Uninterrupted power supply is the goal of every power transmission and distribution company, but many problems lie in the path of achieving it. These problems can lead to unnecessary shutdowns, and can cause huge monetary and man-hour losses. To help power companies achieve highest efficiency, FLIR brings a wide range of thermal imaging cameras and T&M products.
FLIR’s wide range of products for predictive and preventive maintenance
Substation Thermal Image
These products help in detecting hot spots from a safe distance, avoiding unwanted shutdowns, identifying hazardous SF6 gas leakage, monitoring high voltage electrical substations continuously from remote location, etc.

From the President’s Desk
Dear Friends, It has been a year since I am communication with you this column of IEEMA Journal. During my one year stint as President IEEMA I have been writing on various issues concerning the electrical equipment industry. It was indeed a wonderful stint and it has been an honour to work with everyone in the membership, executive council and product divisions. Our membership is our strength and we have been striving hard through regular engagements with the government of India to make IEEMA more relevant for our membership. We have been raising issues and concerns of our members on different forums as a result many of our issues are under consideration and hopefully the results will be in favour of the industry. We expect greater participation across the membership which will help the industry contribute build a sustainable power infrastructure. There is improvement being noticed in the market activities by some of our divisions. We need to monitor and support the overall revival. Another major focus area of IEEMA is Electrical Fire Safety across the entire spectrum of Electrical products being used in the Residential, Commercial & Industrial segments. The recent increase in fire incidents have made this issue even more significant. We are working in this direction by creating awareness among our industry and consumers as well. The domestic residential segment assumes significance since access to power through the Saubhagya initiative will mean increased exposure of electrical products to first time users. The role of Government through its regulatory bodies should ensure that Safety norms are adhered in all respects. Responsible power usage should become the guideline ensuring less or no electrical fire related accidents. Now it’s time to step down and let a new team take over the legacy ahead. Handing the baton to new President Mr Harish Agarwal, I wish him all the support and extend my wishes to him. Continued dialogue with the policy makers and investment in electrical infrastructure should help us grow the available market. I look forward to your continued support and feedback. We all will work together hand in hand for making the association relevant and value adding for its members. Thank you !

Samvaad...
Dear Members, It’s excruciating to see the situation at one of the most beautiful parts of our Country which is also considered as God’s own Country, ‘Kerala’. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have lost loved ones, those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected by floods across the state of Kerala. We cannot imagine the pain of those who underwent this tragic situation but the Country stayed united and help started pouring in from all corners. I salute my fellow countrymen who were engaged in evacuation drive and saving those who were stranded. We would all work together to rebuild and reconstruct the infrastructure of the state. Coming back to IEEMA, we recently concluded our 8th International conference on Cable and Wire and I am glad to share that the conference received an overwhelming support from our industry and other stakeholders. More than 300 delegates graced the occasion and 31 technical papers from across the country were presented at the forum. The growing presence of industry at such technical events reflects the growing relevance of IEEMA not only in India but also internationally. We have had high level engagements with our counterparts in various countries and IEEMA delegations have been travelling to various destinations across the World to further strengthen our business relationships. The coming years will be very exciting and also challenging for Indian businesses, with India emerging as a new economic power as there is a paradigm shift in the global economy. Further a new team has been elected for the coming year in IEEMA and will take charge on September 15. The President Elect Mr. Harish Agarwal is the CEO of Supreme & Co. Pvt. Ltd. He will be assisted by Mr RK Chugh, Executive Vice President Digital Grid – South Asia, Energy Management, Location Head – Gurgaon, Siemens Ltd and Mr. Vipul Ray, Managing Director, Elmex Controls Pvt Ltd, Vadodara as Vice Presidents for the coming year. I join members of IEEMA in welcoming the new team, which will further build on the initiatives, in the best tradition of the Association.
Sunil Misra

Most of the villages in Himalayas including Nepal get off grid-based electricity but there are more than 300-400 villages in Himalayas that still need grid based electricity and are still using Solar Home-lighting systems or Age old Kerosene Lamps.
Conductor is a physical medium to carry electrical energy form one place to other. It is an important component of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems. Key trend in transmission network in recent years has been the adoption of new conductor technologies Advanced conductor technologies play an important role in ensuring the timely implementation of transmission projects. They also help in bringing down transmission losses and preventing power outages.
