Keep your electricity flowing & business growing

Uninterrupted power supply is the goal of every power transmission and distribution company, but many problems lie in the path of achieving it. These problems can lead to unnecessary shutdowns, and can cause huge monetary and man-hour losses. To help power companies achieve highest efficiency, FLIR brings a wide range of thermal imaging cameras and T&M products.

FLIR’s wide range of products for predictive and preventive maintenance

Substation Thermal Image

These products help in detecting hot spots from a safe distance, avoiding unwanted shutdowns, identifying hazardous SF6 gas leakage, monitoring high voltage electrical substations continuously from remote location, etc.

From the President’s Desk

Dear Friends, It is a huge privilege to hold the post of the president of such a hallowed association. I am choosing this opportunity to open my heart to you. To set forth the agenda and the road map I have in mind. The milestones I aspire to achieve. The resolve and the commitment I shall endeavor to bring to the table. The co-operation and support I seek to receive. To tap into your mind in an effort to enrich myself. My mind and thoughts have wandered in many directions in last two weeks. Through this churning, I have been able to zero in on following: 1. I have had active involvement in our association for the last five years as an EC Member, Convenor of Eastern Region Summit, Chairman of T&D Projects Division and Vice President. I have seen from very close quarters accelerated growth in IEEMA’s position as an influencer in policy advocacy space. There is room for taking this engagement to a wider and higher scale. 2. For industry to grow; the way forward is to have massive increase in exports as explained by our past President Chandakji during AGM. For an economy growing at 7 to 8 %, growth from domestic sector cannot be more than 5% for electrical industry. For growth by orders of magnitude exports are only way forward. IEEMA shall soon have a strategy and execution plan on this, in addition to many promotional activities already undertaken. 3. Conferences, training, Journal, publications, and exhibitions are IEEMA’s extremely valuable interfaces with stakeholders. IEEMA under Kabraji took a unique initiative in holding a landmark “Fire & Safety Conclave”. The safety awareness thus created has enthused us no end. There is a clamor for holding such events in all parts of India. Indeed so few of us were actually aware that loss of precious human life runs into hundreds of thousands on electricity related fire accidents alone. We would need to build on this solid foundation. Some of the new conferences that are being considered:

Dear friends, I have been singularly fortunate to have had predecessors who have bequeathed to me legacy agendas which has been the result of tremendous spirit of initiative and commitment they have been imbued with. I shall seek more engagement with them. We are so lucky that visionary founding fathers have enshrined in our constitution executive role for IPP and counsellors’ role for five past presidents. It is such a comforting feeling to know that I would be able call upon them for counseling and advice whenever in dilemma. With this, I invite all my fellow members for the candid views and suggestions.

Electricity is the life line powering every conceivable activity in the world. Today our transmission and distribution systems are continuously expanding to evacuate ever growing power generation in all parts of the world. Along with the continuous growth in demand for electrical energy the nature of demand has also become more complex.

Screened Separable Connectors for Compact Cable Terminations of Distribution Networks Evaluation Criteria & Failure Modes Due to space constraints, the usage of screened and unscreened separable connectors are becoming mandatory in distribution networks, for connecting the cable system to smaller control box cubicles. The evaluation criteria for screened separable connectors as per relevant specification are addressed in this paper.
