Keep your electricity flowing & business growing

Uninterrupted power supply is the goal of every power transmission and distribution company, but many problems lie in the path of achieving it. These problems can lead to unnecessary shutdowns, and can cause huge monetary and man-hour losses. To help power companies achieve highest efficiency, FLIR brings a wide range of thermal imaging cameras and T&M products.

FLIR’s wide range of products for predictive and preventive maintenance

Substation Thermal Image

These products help in detecting hot spots from a safe distance, avoiding unwanted shutdowns, identifying hazardous SF6 gas leakage, monitoring high voltage electrical substations continuously from remote location, etc.

From the President’s Desk

Dear Friends, The month started with swearing in of Prime Minister and his Cabinet. I had the privilege of being invited to the oath taking ceremony. A galaxy of distinguished citizenry was embellished by presence of Heads of States critical to India’s Act East policy. Many would reduce a notable non-invitation to reductive antagonism. But this government has shown a highly matured sense of calibrated aggression in diplomacy. It was a clear message that the price tag on any misadventure would be unaffordable and they would not be deterred by any deterrent. This was followed an EC meeting with a highly insightful and enlightening talk by Shri Sanjay Singhal, Director, Secure Meters. I culled following nuggets from the interaction. $ &KRRVH WKH ÀJKWV \RX ZDQW WR ÀJKW FDUHIXOO\ B)

Going global is not for the weak - hearted.

Determine carefully your infrastructure and staying power before taking a strategic decision to go to a market.

We intend to involve many more senior statesmen of our industry for such interactions as understandably many of them are engaged in myriad pursuits and are not in a position to play active role in the association. However, we should endeavour to deep dive into their knowledge, wisdom and insights. This was followed by an interaction with Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor, GOI He is a multi faceted person with Economics, history, urbanism being his principal area of expertise and he is capable of mesmerising - as indeed he did that day - an audience with his erudition, forthrightness and oratory. +H H[SODLQHG KRZ JRYHUQPHQW VSHQW Ă€YH \HDUV LQ SXWWLQJ VWUXFWXUHV LQ SODFH LQWURGXFLQJ FKHFNV DQG EDODQFHV getting landmark insolvency laws and GST enacted and having a world class intra city connectivity not to mention providing universal access to power. However many senior members felt that we need to structure these interactions better as we could not derive full advantage from this opportunity. Suggestions are well taken and we shall work on this. Internationally we are witnessing bipolarity reminiscent of the days of the advent of cold war. Governance styles are just as contrasting. Dear Members, The new Government is going to present the full Union Budget on 5th July 2019. The newly appointed Finance Minister, Hon’ble Smt. The industry is facing slowdown in various product segments, due to lack of demand and increasing imports that has touched approx. USD 10.24 billion in 2018-19. It is a high time for the Government to increase the competiveness of the domestic electrical industry in getting the cost manufacturing reduced by lowering the tax structure; putting quality infrastructure; ensuring availability and controlling the upswing in the landed cost of necessary imported raw materials & components. +LJK FRVW RI ÀQDQFH LV DQRWKHU DUHD RI FRQFHUQ HVSHFLDOO\ IRU WKH 60( VHJPHQW with limited funding and more than adequate collateral, even for working capital. In Focus Cheap Chinese goods throbbing Indian electrical equipment units India’s smalland mediumenterprise-dominated electrical equipment industry is under pressure. Sluggish demand in the domestic market and a consistent increase in imports of electrical equipment from China are threatening its growth. Chinese imports have led to the closure of many businesses, switching from manufacturing to trading and overdependence on Chinese inputs.
