From the President’s Desk
Dear Friends, Let me once again put on record, my deep gratitude for the confidence and trust you have placed in me. I, along with all esteemed National Executive Council members, welcome you all, as we embark on another soulful journey of 73rd glorious year of IEEMA All of us are a part of a squad whose leaders and members, even years later, will be reminisced for what we achieved for us and IEEMA, despite these testing times. And, at IEEMA, we have been privileged to work with thousands of organizations striving to achieve greatness. As a result, we have learned a lot about organizational distinction and what does and doesn’t matter in getting there. I have been reflecting on former accomplishments and work practices of IEEMA to ensure that ,I not only continue with the older best practices during my stint as a President, but I also wish for your support in identifying and implementing new approaches and philosophies for relentless growth of IEEMA. Change is the only constant and, the unprecedented & uncertain times call for change in approach, change in strategies, and change in actions. You all have a critical role to play as IEEMA ambassadors in reshaping the economy. To inspire people to follow you, to commit themselves to your endeavours, to make needed sacrifices; it is imperative that we consider ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ vision as an inspiring mission.
local innovation and R&D, focus on reduced imports, and aim at intensifying our goal to be exporters of choice globally. ELECRAMA – our highly admired and worldrenowned event, has been one of our most remarkable accomplishments. I request that we replicate the same vigour, motivation, and grit for the next 365 days. The ultimate aim is to bring joy to all stakeholders & team IEEMA, by aiming at growth of our economy & our businesses.
“Teamwork makes the Dream work.” Best Wishes,
Anil Saboo

Samvaad...
Dear Members, IEEMA continues its journey and transition from real physically interactive programmes, Conferences, Seminars and even exhibitions to virtual. This year the Annual Convention of IEEMA became Annual Celebrations which consisted of the Annual Convention, Panel Discussion, Conference and an Exhibition all focused on the theme of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat The interesting part was all these activities including the Annual General Meeting and the first National Executive Council Meeting were held VIRTUALLY. This is a historical transition which may look very simple but is an indication of how the world around us will be shaped by technology in future.
building such a partnership for the power ministry, to start with.
The overwhelming advantages of technology will out way the disadvantages of, lack of social interaction which individual and societies will find other ways to fulfil. This change will throw up various challenges for the organisations like industry associations where the delivery of value proposition while going up will result in disproportionate loss of resources. Such a situation will require more focussed and frequent activities to bridge the gap.
Talking about IEEMA’s first virtual exhibition Digielec Bharat, it gives me immense pleasure to inform you that the four days exhibition was successful. We received 6794 visitors over 4 days which is an impressive number and especially for a maiden virtual event. Total exhibition footfalls were 33151.
The Annual Convention was attended by Shri R. K. Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The Convention also witnessed the virtual presence of more than 1000 delegates from Indian Industry and its stakeholders. Shri R. K. Singh urged the domestic manufacturers to stop imports from countries which are of concern. The Power Minister brought to fore many valuable points. He mentioned that the government was now sensitized to the fact that import dependence has to be reduced and local employment opportunities need to be bolstered. To this effect, the government is working on a plan to set up 3-4 manufacturing zones for electrical equipment, supported by common testing facilities. “Industry and government have to work as a team,” Shri Singh emphasized adding that he was working towards

We assure that IEEMA and its membership will work hand-inhand with the government and will rise to the challenge to become the factory of the world.
The Conference on Transforming business through technology on 24th& 25th September 2020 also concluded with grand success and participation of over 2500 delegates. The conference saw the presence of eminent speakers like that of Shri Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary- Ministry of Housing and Public Affairs (HUPA), Special address by H.E. Mr. Upendra Tripathy, Director General – International Solar Alliance and key note sessions by Dr. Ajay Mathur, DG TERI and Mr. Vishal Kapoor, Director – Ministry of Power. Back in IEEMA, I join members of IEEMA in welcoming the National Executive Council Members for 2020-21, who will further build on the initiatives, in the best tradition of the Association.
Sunil Misra

India paves its way towards localization in the Energy sector
Energy storage has always been a key agenda for the country, one that has now been gaining fast grounds owing to an increased emphasis on building a clean and green India. Even more so due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has raised an alarm for the country to rely less on imports. Until 2020, China had been dominating the battery supply chain as it records WR VHYHQW\ ÀYH SHUFHQW RI EDWWHU\ producing limit.

Case Studies On Tripping Analysis Of Power Transformer ( Part-2)
The word “earth and “earthing is misunderstood across India as an electrode in soil. Good earthing is understood as an earth electrode with a low resistance to soil. As a result, earth electrode in soil is always blamed as the reason for failures and incidents. This article shall be read as a continuation of previous two articles.
During the last EVENT and EVENTUAL series in the month of September 2020, we had narrated IHZ SUDFWLFDO ÀHOG FDVH VWXGLHV RQ the tripping analysis of the Power transformers.
