AFFORD YOUR JOURNEY FINANCIAL AID
Many students don’t realize that financial aid can help pay for study abroad. Pell Grants, Stafford Loans and PLUS loans can apply to your IFSA-Butler program. College grants and scholarships, Perkins Loans, state grants and loans, and 529 plans may also be used for study abroad, but you’ll need to ask your home campus financial aid office about their policies for transferring these types of aid.
We believe that study abroad is within reach for every student, so we’re committed to helping you identify funding sources. We can assist you with your financial aid transfer, and we offer a wide range of scholarships and grants to help defray the cost of studying abroad.
VETERANS BENEFITS
If you are a recipient of the Post 9/11 GI Bill, you may use your tuition benefits for study abroad. This process can differ among U.S. colleges and universities, so you will want to start the conversation early with your home campus study abroad office to determine the best billing procedure for your institution.
WORK-TO-STUDY GRANT PROGRAM
Gain some work experience and earn spending money while you are abroad! With the Work-to-Study grant, students complete projects for IFSA-Butler in exchange for a stipend between $300 and $1,000, depending on the scope and involvement of the projects completed. These grant opportunities are available to all students, with special consideration to those already on federal work study at their home campus. Work-to-Study positions are determined by current and frequently changing project needs at IFSA-Butler, but could include: • Marketing and communications • Graphic design • Photography and videography • Peer advising • Research • Creative writing

It also represents the enormous environmental, economic and social challenges that are mirrored across China and around the world. Shanghai is ideal for students to immerse themselves in Chinese society and language, study currents of international trade or explore questions of sustainable urbanization.

PUNE Head to Pune to see for yourself what makes contemporary India so exhilarating. You can celebrate traditional Indian festivals in the old city, learn classical Indian music and dance or find yourself in a maze of magnificent historical architecture. At the same time, Pune is a youthful and progressive city with a growing music and art scene and an established development hub. This balance of city life, an international landscape and uniquely Indian roots attracts scholars and practitioners from all over India and the world. In Pune, you not only study contemporary India—you live it.

SRI LANKA MANIPAL Near the Western Ghats and only five miles from the Arabian Sea, the college town of Manipal is surrounded by tropical palm trees and stunning views. The very presence of cutting-edge Manipal University has sparked massive infrastructure development that rivals some of India’s top urban campuses. In Manipal, you will meet students not only from all over India, but from all over the world, and together study India’s public health initiatives and rich cultural heritage.
Varanasi—also known as Kashi or Banaras—is one of the longest-inhabited cities to grace the banks of India’s sacred Ganges River. Considered a holy city for Hindus, home to a vibrant Muslim population, and just a few miles from where the Buddha preached his first sermon, Varanasi is filled with daily religious ceremonies. The influx of pilgrims, coupled with population growth and economic development, places unique pressures on the urban environment and makes Varanasi a compelling location for study abroad.
Welcome to India, our enchanting country! She is blessed with a rich, 5,000-year-old civilization and heritage, representing tremendous diversity in the form of 25 states, 1,618 languages, 6,400 castes and caste groups, six major religions, six major ethnic groups and 29 major festivals. We are certain our India programs will provide countless unique learning opportunities and life-changing experiences that will both inspire and guide intelligent young minds for the rest of their lives. JERUSALEM
FROM OUR RESIDENT DIRECTOR

Jerusalem has captured the imagination of the world for centuries. Ancient history is evident at every turn, yet this diverse city also boasts modern cultural diversity and student-friendly entertainment. The area around campus has plenty of cultural and entertainment options, including art galleries, museums, theaters, nightlife and restaurants. One of the most sacred and historic cities in the world, Jerusalem is the perfect place to spend an exciting and enlightening semester or year.
Baruch haba! Welcome to Israel! Ours is one of the most intriguing countries and cultures in the world, and it’s also a great place for study abroad. Israel has it all: terrific weather, friendly people, amazing food and a unique culture not found anywhere else in the world. Best of all, modern Israel is a splendid mixture of ancient and new. The world’s three major monotheistic religions have their heart in Jerusalem, so history and faith abound from all corners. At the same time, however, twenty-first century Israel is as contemporary and developed as any European or North American society. Our program is based in Jerusalem. Here you’ll live alongside Israeli students and study in one of the world’s most prestigious universities. Come, and experience the magic of Israel. Shalom!
