If you select an activity on a certain day and your brother or sister does not have an activity on that day, they will need to be collected by a parent/driver or be on the 3:10 bus. Basketball - (Grades 6-12) Tuesday & Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Come join in the fun. Represent the IGB International School Phoenix against teams from across Kuala Lumpur. Swim Team - (Grades 2-12) Monday & Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Tuesday & Thursday 6:45 - 7:30am Come out and train with the IGB International School swim team. Swimmers must be able to swim 200m. Track & Field - (Grades 2-12) Monday & Wednesday: 6:45 - 7:30am Come join the team and improve your fitness levels. Represent the IGB International School Phoenix against teams from across Kuala Lumpur. Ultimate Frisbee - (Grades 6-12) Friday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Come out for fun and fitness. Develop your frisbee skills and form new friendships whilst learning this rapidly growing and exciting sport. Represent the IGB International School Phoenix against teams across Kuala Lumpur at the Ultimate tournament. Tournament dates are February 25th and May 20th. If you sign up, you should be expected or willing to go to this tournament if selected.
Anime Club (Grades 3-12) Thursday lunchtime Do you love Anime? Then come and join this club. Not only will we be watching Anime but also learning to draw popular Anime characters. Art Club Junior (Grades K-2) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm If you are in Kindergarten to Grade 2, come and join us for some crafty, arty fun. We will be drawing, constructing, painting and more to create mini masterpieces! Please also bring a white t-shirt to paint on for the first class. Art Club Middle (Grades 3-5) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm If you are in Grade 3 to Grade 5, come and join us for some arty fun, refining your skills in drawing, constructing, painting and more. Please also bring a white t-shirt to paint on for the first class. Art Club Senior (Grades 6-12) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm If you are in Grade 6 to Grade 12, come and join us for some arty fun, refining your skills in drawing, constructing, painting and more. Group work on murals and school wide projects. This time is also an opportunity for students to work on independent projects such as portfolios (e.g. grades 9, 10, 11). Big Brothers & Sisters (Grades K-12) Tuesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Connect, Care and Communicate! Opportunity awaits students across the school to care for each other, communicate together and connect. Older students will be helping younger students with homework, reading, drawing and playing games. Young students benefit by having older students positively influence them. Cards & Board Games (Grades 3-5) Tuesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Outwit your peers whilst developing your strategic and critical thinking with a wide variety of classic card and board games. Chess (Grades 3-12) Friday lunchtime Chess Club is a great opportunity for a little exercise of the mind, while learning some new strategies and tactics. A chess tournament round robin will be held, leading the the crowning of a Chess Club Champion. There is also the possibility of an inter-school competition.
Choir (Grades 4-5) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Singing Smiles choir - for grade 4 and 5 students who love to sing and want to challenge themselves to learn more complex songs including those with harmony. This activity will run every Thursday after school until the end of the year. We will be preparing for performances and will need everyone there.
Circus Skills (Grades 6-12) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Circus Skills - Come and join Circus Spectacular and learn a number of different circus skills. We have juggling balls and clubs, flower sticks, diablos, spinning plates and a unicycle. Create your very own clown character. At the end of the season you will perform in a short circus act. CODING for Secondary (Grades 6-12) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Coding is what makes it possible to create computer software, apps and websites. Creative Writing (Grades 3-12) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Have you always wanted to be a writer? Are you interested in poetry, short stories, manga? Then this activity is waiting for you! Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Grades 9-12) Tuesday lunchtime The Duke of Edinburgh’s International award is the world’s leading youth achievement award. There are three levels to the Award: Bronze: For those over 14 years. 6 months minimum participation. Silver: For those over 15 years. 12 months minimum participation. Gold: For those over 16 years. 18 months minimum participation. For all levels, you must complete components in Service, Physical Recreation, Skills and an Adventurous Journey. Our club will focus on the Skills and Adventurous Journey elements. We will do hiking activities, practice camp craft and go on some adventures together. Earth Science Experiments (Grades K-2) Tuesday: 3:10 - 4:10 Let's learn more about the earth through hands-on activities and experiments. We can find better ways to help take care of the earth too! Editorial Board (Grades 6-12) Friday Lunchtime If you want to be part of making memories last at IGB International School and you have huge creative abilities that you want to put to good use, be part of this student-driven initiative. Students participating in this activity will be working on the Yearbook and Athletics & Activities Council in marketing and promoting events as well as capturing them for all time. Have fun and keep fit learning some new aerobic style dance moves from two of our most experienced movers.
Global Film Club (Grades 6-12) Wednesday lunchtime The Global Film Club is dedicated to showcasing international film works in order to: ● Teach students about other cultures ● Encourage intercultural dialogue ● Motivate students to continue research on other countries and cultures ● a way to reach out to students and explore global issues. ● encourage students to create their own short film Global Issues Network (GIN) (Grades 6-12) Thursday lunchtime If you are someone who wants to change the world, save the world or serve it in any or all ways you can, this is the club for you. We are about making change happen. And it’s all driven by you. IGB TV (Grades 4-10) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday lunchtimes Are you interested in being part of a dynamic team, creating and producing a 2-5 minute news bulletin about all the cool stuff that is happening at IGBIS? We need camera people, editors, reporters and special effects experts to be part of this exciting project. Warning: it is going to be hard work, but it is going to be fun. Lego Logic - (Grades K-5) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Come and get those creative juices flowing! Working with Lego is more than just building cool buildings, spaceships and robots. You will be increasing your math skills, working on various scientific concepts and cooperating with new friends. Come join the fun! Mindcraft Edu Club (Grades 3-8) Tuesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Have fun building amazing things in a socially engaging environment using the educational version of the popular Minecraft game, MinecraftEdu. No purchase of Minecraft software necessary. Model United Nations (MUN) (Grades 6-12) Tuesday lunchtime MUN is a club that gives students the chance to debate real world issues. Students will learn about MUN during lunch meetings and have a chance to debate during conferences at other international schools as well as at IGBIS. There are leadership positions also available to help run the MUN club. Movie Making (Grades 2-5) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10 Make your own movies and presentations! Explore different programs to see which you want to work with: iMovie, Explain Everything, Comic Life, Stop Motion, Animate It, SonicPics. Choose the project, create your own characters, practise your skills and work towards our final presentation.
Music Ensemble (Grades 6-12) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm This activity provides the opportunity for students to play music in a large ensemble. This activity runs all year and is for students from Grade 6 and above. Roots & Shoots (Grades 9-12) Wednesday lunchtime Are you interested in helping the environment? Creative hands-on projects? Then come and join Roots and Shoots! This club is a branch of the Jane Goodall Institute. Our goal would be to raise awareness about our environment and the organisation. So come along, join in and make a difference! Stock Market Challenge (Grades 9-12) Wednesday lunchtime Learn to play the stock market online in this virtual game of buy and sell. Check it out at: https://game.asx.com.au/game/info/school/about-the-game The Great IGBIS Bake Off Maximum of 8 students (Grades 8-12) Wednesday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Have fun learning, testing and showcasing your baking skills with Mr. Evans. Over the course of ten weeks you make a range of healthier baked products. You will make bread, pancakes, slices, muffins, biscuits, cakes, pies, loaves, pastries and pizza. At the end of the activity your team will showcase your skills by putting on an afternoon tea for family and friends in Ignite, our new training restaurant. Touch Rugby (Grades 6-12) Monday lunchtime Come along on Mondays at lunchtime and learn this fun game. Skills and drills will be given to beginners then games will be on offer all year!!! Yoga (Grades 6-12) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm Get ready to de-stress and relieve all your tension, by linking breath to movement, and stretching and strengthening your body. Includes an introduction to basic yoga postures and styles, all designed for stress relief. Every session suits all fitness and flexibility types. Open to students in grades 6-12, and teachers who want to relax.
PAID ACTIVITIES - SUNARIZE Sunarize is an outside provider of Activities and Athletic Academies. There is an extra cost for these activities due to outside coaches coming to IGBIS. Students need to comply with the IGB International School Code of Conduct during these sessions and are required to wear the correct uniform (PE uniform or a change of clothes). School uniform is unacceptable due to personal hygiene reasons. These sessions all have a minimum numbers of students that are required to sign up before the event will be confirmed. Ballet (Grades K-5) Thursday: 3:10 - 4:10pm 12th January - 23rd March 8 sessions RM60 per session x 8 sessions = RM480 per season for each student The ballet programme provides comprehensive classical ballet education along with classes in other dance disciplines for students aged 5 and up. Classes are taught by certified and award-winning instructors who follow a progressive structure, designed to assist each child in reaching their highest potential. We offer class placement for students of every age and ability, whether focused on after-school dance education or developing the strong skills and technique required to become a professional dancer. Badminton (Grades K-12) Monday: 3:10 - 4:10pm 9th January - 20th March 10 Sessions RM38 per session x 10 sessions = RM380 per season for each student We offer an extensive schedule of junior coaching, which caters for beginners right through to the more advanced player. It's a fantastic way to meet new friends, keep fit and, if you want to improve your badminton, learn new tips and techniques from an array of different coaches from different backgrounds. Our program is designed to create experiences that stimulate and develop the far and near senses,
the nervous system, fine and gross motor skills and cognitive skills. Most importantly, we aim to provide participants with a positive experience that we hope will ensure they will always enjoy their time in the water. Football Academy (Grades K-9) Monday: 3:10-4:10pm 9th January - 20th March 10 Sessions RM40 per session x 10 sessions = RM400 per season for each student Learn from the Pros! Join Sunarize professional soccer players and highly experienced coaches for an exciting, fun-filled after school soccer program. Founded by former Kickers pro player and professional coach Mike, Elementary Soccer will help develop kids not only in the sport of soccer, but in creating valuable life skills. The fun-filled program teaches the fundamentals of sportsmanship, respect and a positive attitude in a fast-paced, active environment. Karate (Grades K-12) Friday: 3:10-4:10pm 13th January - 24th March 9 sessions RM40 per session x 9 sessions = RM360 per season for each student Grade 4 & 5 8 sessions RM40 per session x 8 sessions = RM320 per season for each student *There is an additional cost of RM200 for uniform and registration. If you already have a uniform then registration fee is RM50. The study of karate brings more than just physical rewards; students also develop discipline, focus, respect for others and goal-setting skills. The emphasis on personal achievement also builds confidence: success is within the reach of every student. In karate, children learn techniques at their own pace. Belt and stripe requirements offer a clear path forward at each step of the training process. Tennis (Grades K-12) Monday: 3:10 - 4:10pm 9th January - 20th March 10 Sessions Minimum number sign up is 4 students RM80 per session x 10 sessions = RM800 per season for each student. Grab your tennis racket and get ready to play! Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, this program will improve your game and help you get more enjoyment from tennis. Our tennis programmes focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players. Each player is given personal attention and taught through repetition in an enjoyable, lively atmosphere. Sunarize tennis breaks down the fundamental skills of tennis through easily understood games and exercises to help improve the athlete’s overall coordination and technique. Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programmes fill quickly.
Little Athletics​ ​(Grades K-5) Friday: 3:10 - 4:10pm 13th January - 24th March 9 sessions RM32 per session x 9 sessions = RM288 per season for each student Grade 4 & 5 8 sessions RM32 per session x 8 sessions = RM256 per season for each student Sunarize Track & Field was developed to introduce young athletes to this sport rich in tradition and history. These programs combine technical development and fundamental techniques with safety and a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our exercises and drills will prepare athletes for a future in cross-country, track and field events, and distance running, while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are all covered in this unique program. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end of the season at the Track meet. Girl Guides - open to girls only Must be aged between 9 - 13 years old (Grades 4 - 6) Monday: 3:10 - 4:10pm RM200 per season for each student (fee paid directly to Leader for Girl Guide Association subscription) RM170 for uniform for girls new to Girl Guides (purchased online) Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we empower girls to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.
