Why study this subject?
Film, Television and New Media are our primary sources of information, communication and entertainment. They are important channels for educational and cultural exchange and are vital to our self-expression. Movingimage media enables us to understand and express ourselves and engage meaningfully with others. This subject equips students for a future of unimagined possibilities with highly transferable and flexible skills. Students develop valuable 21st century attributes including: • • • •

What do students study?
Unit 1 Foundation: Students learn the codes and conventions used in storytelling and focus on the horror genre. Unit 2 Story Forms: Students investigate the ways in which story takes different forms in different contexts and focus on the music video genre image. Unit 3 Participation: Students explore how audiences participate with moving-image media across multiple platforms and focus on multi-platform storytelling. Unit 4 Identity: Students experiment with moving-image media technologies to express their artistic identity and focus on foreign film movements.
