INTRODUCING
Maison Leleu

FROM SHADOW TO LIGHT.

~PALM Collection designed by Jean-Michel Wilmottefor Parla

The Black Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea: PALM with its wide range of seats, stools, daybeds and low tables overcomes the boundaries between internal and external spaces, inviting us on a new journey.

The design of Jean-Michel Wilmotte meets the savoir faire of the Parla furniture brand, giving life to a collection of seats and low tables characterized by a subtle elegance, made up of clean lines, warm and noble materialsandextremeattentiontofinishes.

The collaboration between the great French architect and the company from Istanbul, with long experience in the production of bespoke furniture, started a few years ago, when Jean-Michel Wilmotte and his studio were developing some hospitality projects in the South of France. They were looking for a high-end furniture manufacturer to produce a new furniture collection with coated metal frame and Parla, specialized in manufacturing sophisticated, highquality furnituresince 1910, wastheperfectpartner.

021

The story of Parla began when the first generation started crafting furniture for the Ottoman Royal Family.

The in-house team of designers and skilled craftsmen have been fundamental in building up the company’s success which relies on traditional craftsmanship blended with cutting-edge technology in woodwork, metalwork, and upholstery.

022
023

PALM was born with the intention of creating a line of furniture with a perfect balance between form and function, lightness and discrete elegance for both outdoor and indoor use. It took three years to develop the collection which is destined to grow over the years.

Inside, outside: a new praise of the dark.

Inside, outside: a new praise of the dark, this is how Jean-Michel Wilmotte explains PALM design with its interplay between light and shadow, accompanied by the sleek lines of the chairs, giving rhythm to the surrounding space.

All the elements making up the collection perfectly combine touch and material with the contemporary and smooth coating of the metal structure, reminiscent of a raw mineral world, that contrasts with the silkiness of the wood that forms the armrests.

The softness of the textile weave flatters the well-thought, layered cushion design. Deep colors such as blue, black, brown and grey, typical compositional codes that characterize Jean-Michel Wilmotte's design approach are perfectly expressed in PALM.

MEDA, Made for Life, for LAUFEN.

The new complete bathroom collection created for LAUFEN by the Swiss designer Peter Wirz of Studio Vetica alternates clean and rigorous lines with soft shapes for a timeless design that stands out in a private residential property as well as in the premium hotel and hospitality sectors.

The lively dialogue between Peter Wirz and the group of professionals working in the multidisciplinary studio Vetica gave birth to MEDA, whose claim is 'Made for Life'. The designer started from this idea, to design a complete system of ceramics, faucets and furniture with essential shapes and characterized by maximum modularity to adapt to any bathroom environment and style.

025

Timeless design means looking into the future with more responsibility.

A design that is as timeless as possible paired with innovative technology and materials is essential’ explains Peter Wirz. For customers, this means looking to the future with a good feeling.

LAUFEN’s commitment to a more sustainable and inclusive future is intertwined with the development of innovative materials and careful production processes but must also take into account the definition of intelligent solutions that last over time.

The calm, soft and gentle design language of the new product line is the basis for the extended LAUFEN brand experience. People are looking for peace and security in a hectic world’, this is how Peter Wirz describes the new MEDA collection.

DR WAYNE PERNELL

President, DynamicLeader, Inc.

Speaker, Elite Mindstate, Coach, Author, Film Producer, Blogger, Podcaster & So Much More.

“I haven’t jumped out of an airplane and I don’t scuba dive (a pause filled with a smile) yet. ”That’s the answer that our featured guest, Dr. Wayne Pernell, gives when asked about his impressive bio: “Is there anything you haven’t done?

Dr Wayne Pernell, known as The Exponential Success Coach, is in fact a gentleman with an impressive background. From studying hypnosis at 12 years old to holding a fourthdegree black belt in Bushido, a multidisciplinary martial art, and being a nerdy Ham Radio operator, Wayne is one of the most insightful and effective personal and professional coaches you’ll ever meet, Dr Wayne, one of his monikers, leads his clients on a journey of exponential success.

Dr. Wayne Pernell, known as Dr. P, Dr. Wayne, or just Wayne holds a doctorate in clinical psychology. Forty years ago, yes – four decades of experience – he turned from traditional psychology and entered the realm of leadership development. He notes, “ a client called and thanked me for the work I had done with him and his wife. I thought that was a great call, but the client told me he wasn’t calling to thank me as much as he was calling to see if I could do the same work with him and his vice president. It turns out, this guy was the head of a major company in South San Francisco. I was young, and I stepped right in.”

And as a number one best-selling author with five books in print and two more being written at the time of this publication, Dr P changes lives through his writing. His first book, Choosing Your Power, teaches communication and relationship skills that are useful at any level. And his international #1 best seller, Dynamic Transitions, is great for any of us who are in transition in a career, relationship, or life.

036

The work Wayne did with that company focused on uncovering shared values, developing working agreements for how to communicate, buildingavision, andfromthat, creatingastrategicplanforthecompany.

Since then, his clients have included major organizations across an array of industries including finance, legal, travel, retail, healthcare, and more. He works with individuals and organizational leaders, building bonds internally to boost engagement and productivity, ultimately lifting the bottom line. He's in service to his clients and even those not officially his clients. With a weekly blog, Wednesdays With Wayne, everyone has access to inspiration and new insights. His masterclass on Powerful Presence is available on his website at no cost. And his podcast, One Sharp Sword – Cutting Through To What Matters Most is available wherever you listen! Offering insights with interviews from leaders around the world, Dr P brings lessons we can all use.

His current project(s) – because you know with Dr Wayne Pernell, there’s never just one thing brewing – he’s readying his keynote, his next book, and a corporate program focused on building A Culture of Caring.

His other keynote and book (and song, believe it or not) all come together around the concept of paying attention to what we REALLY want from our lives. His work here, Listen To The Whispers, helps audience members to understand that what they’ve done for others has been useful, and that “someday stuff” they’ve put aside needs to be given some attention. “That,” Dr Pernell says, “is where we thrive.”

Dr Wayne Pernell is a master of moving people from where they are to stepping into realms they only dreamed might be available “someday.” Dr P smiles, “You know, of all the days of the week, someday isn’t one of them.”

To take part in his small-group Exponential Success Summit, two days with him and a dozen people or fewer, you may reach out to apply. Remember, it’s not what this year brings, it’s what you bring to this year!

Dr P challenges, “What is it you really want? What would you treasure having or doing? Then who do you need to become to be the person that has and does what you said you wanted? The reason you don’t have those things in your life yet is because you’re not that person yet!” And Dr Pernell knows what he’s talking about. His work has consistently been called “Life Changing” for a reason. It is.

Feb 1–April 19, 2024 NEW YORK

Curated by AD100 member, Lee F. Mindel, FAIA of the multidisciplinary firm, Shelton Mindel, the exhibition is an engaging collaboration between the architectural icon and the iconic Jacques Lacoste of the eponymous Paris-based design Gallery. The exhibition will highlight the architects, decorators, and artists, whose groundbreaking, instinctual work changed the course of the 20thcentury decorative arts between the latter half of the 1920s and the tail-end of the 1950s.

Named after the 1929 novel by Jean Cocteau, Les Enfants Terribles also references the 1950 cinematic adaptation of the book—a collaboration between Cocteau and French Filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville and the enchanting friendship that blossomed between the two visionaries.

Beyond its literary and cinematic roots, Les Enfants Terribles holds a deeper significance, symbolizing the creative rapport between Mindel and Lacoste.

It is conceived as a civic gesture meant to extend the seemingly private world of art and architecture into the context of the city.

It reflects deep American values of openness, transparency, and desire to welcome all international cultures to be part of a democratic discourse accessible to all. Through establishing a dialogue with Anish Kapoor’s sculpture, the space not only acts as a physical node on Church Street but also as a larger metaphorical node within the vast network of artists around the world.

The interior massing of the gallery space works in close synchronization with that of the form of the building – a deconstructed interpretation of its pronounced volumes by translating them into a series of intersecting planes within the space.

The space establishes a dialogue with other vivid nodes like the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center, through thoughtful gestures such as theme-lighting during important civic events. The gallery serves as a beacon for the cultural ethos of the city.

The Sakura Collection was started in 2012 comprising three missions aimed at "fostering young creators," "regional revitalization and PR tourism to Japan," and "promoting cultural and economic exchange," with the aim of developing culture, technology, and the economy through cross-border collaboration.

The first event was the Texworld New York City, one of the largest sourcing events on the East Coast, from at the Javits Center in New York where the Sakura Collection displayed a stunning array of fabrics from different regions of Japan, such as wool, cotton, denim, silk, and linen, each with its own story, craftsmanship, and charm.

The event also featured the final judging for the Sakura Collection Fashion Design Award 2024, a global competition for fashion students, who showcased their creations using the theme materials of "Natsu-Shiozawa" and "Upcycled Denim". The jury included Osamu Saito, founder of Yohji Yamamoto Europe, Keiko Aoki, CEO of the Altesse Co., Ltd. a New Yorkbased international business consultant company, Hervé Pierre - an American fashion designer who has worked for top brands such as Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera and who has dressed the first lady and other celebrities.

The second event was an exhibition and fashion presentation held at the Pierre Hotel. On the final day of the event, three renowned fashion designers including Flora Rabitti from Italy (Florania), Irina Duhus from Ukraine (DZHUS), and Sabrina Goh from Singapore (Sabrina Goh) unveiled their exclusive collections made with traditional Japanese materials including Ojiya-chijimi, SanoAi Syo-Aizome, Hamamatsu Marunabe Denim, Nakaden Keori's Bishu Wool among others. Models were supplued by the Barbizon Agency.

Their creations blended Japanese heritage with their own cultural influences and artistic visions, resulting in unique and valuable pieces that represent the future of fashion. A dance performance highlighted the versatility of the fabrics and the skill of the performers from the Vissi Dance Theater.
