DISARONNO è stato anche protagonista dei party più glamour del mondo del cinema. In prima fila ai Bafta londinesi con il cast di “The Artist”, DISARONNO ha poi premiato la costumista delle stelle durante la settimana degli Oscar ad Hollywood e conquistato le star del cinema ai Rembrand Awards in Olanda e al Sundance Festival.

Parte, inoltre, la seconda edizione del concorso THE DISARONNO MIXING STAR: il vincitore potrà volare in India e recitare come star bartender in una delle produzioni cinematografiche della scintillante Bollywood a Mumbai.

Continua poi l’affermazione della nostra Azienda a livello globale, con il consolidamento di mercati chiave come la Cina, l’Australia e l’India. As you have seen, the magazine has undergone a huge transformation, in order to refresh its look and become even more attractive for its readers. The content is enhanced with a fresh new graphic design, in which pictures and graphics play a key role in representing the Italian drinking style on an international level. In this issue you will find information on the launch of new products, initiatives and the different events we are activating with our partners all over the world.

This issue’s focus is on the presentation of the new DISARONNO, “BE ORIGINALE” spots. Inspired by the concept of Mixability, the new spots were based on the creative idea by an exceptional filmmaker, Roman Coppola. An artistic signature for a new, innovative and original campaign.

Once again, DISARONNO confirms its privileged relationship with the world of cinema by attending the most glamorous cinematic events. First at the BAFTA’s, together with the cast of “The Artist”, then during the Oscar Week in Hollywood, DISARONNO awarded the best movie stars’ costume designer with a career achievement award, and finally DISARONNO conquered the heart and palate of the stars at the Rembrandt Awards in Holland and the Sundance Festival in USA. At the same time, the second edition of THE DISARONNO MIXING STAR competition takes off: the winner could win a trip to India and be the star bartender in one of the most dazzling Bollywood movie productions in Mumbai.

By consolidating some of the most prominent markets in the world-such as China, Australia and India-our company confirms its presence on an international level. In particular, thanks to the joint venture with Modi Group-top leader in India-the company has entered into the Indian whisky market with the launch of ROCKFORD RESERVE FINE & RARE WHISKY, a new premium product which already looks to be very promising.

This is a special moment also for TIA MARIA. While the winners of the “Be a Red Glasses Bartender” contest are getting ready to fly to Jamaica, TIA MARIA presents its new drink strategy which is developed around its signature cocktails.

The year 2012 has been, and we hope will continue to be, a dynamic year for all of our products. ARTIC, for example, continues to confirm its active role in the world of music and young people. It is getting ready to launch two new Facebook competitions for the people of the night. An exceptional filmaker, Roman Coppola is the creative mind behind the new spot Disaronno “Be Originale”: onair from mid May in Holland, Belgium, UK, USA and Mexico. The new spots will broadcast in Italy and Canada by the end of 2012.

Roman Coppola, physically resembling his father Francis Ford and showing the same determined temper of his sister Sofia, put all his talent and passion for cinema into these spots. The claim “BE ORIGINALE” invites consumers to get out of the ordinary and experience a change by choosing the new, exclusive combinations featured

by Disaronno, the original.

The Disaronno signature cocktails play a starring role in this new campaign, which focuses on the value of the extreme versatility of the world’s favorite Italian liqueur. A true icon of style, the spot presents a modern, elegant visual design concept.

Coppola’s revolves around the concept of “Mixology”, a true “drink well” philosophy inspiring an infinite range of Disaronno-based drinks and cocktails in a sophisticated and unique mix of new and unexpected ingredients. Dove verrà prodotto il nuovo whisky?

M. Rockford verrà imbottigliato nella nostra distilleria a Modi Nagar vicino a Delhi. Questa distilleria, aperta nel 1959, oggi produce liquori di altissima qualità grazie all’utilizzo di tecnologie innovative e della collaborazione tecnica con Illva.

Quali sono le caratteristiche del mercato e della categoria whisky indiano?

M. Il mercato oggi supera i 130 milioni di casse vendute l’anno e la categoria del whisky locale si definisce come un mix di whisky scozzese con spirits locali e alcool puro.

Quali sono i tratti salienti di Rockford?

B. Si tratta di un blend tra whisky scozzesi invecchiati in botti di rovere e la migliore produzione locale di malti indiani e alcool ai cereali. Rockford Reserve è creato sotto l’attenta supervisione del nostro mastro distillatore scozzese, ha un intenso color oro e un sapore rotondo e bilanciato con un carattere deciso dato dal rovere e una leggera dolcezza data dalle delicate note fruttate.

We flew to Mumbai, India to launch Rockford Reserve-the new premium whisky featuring an intense and enticing aroma-a whisky that Illva Saronno created in partnership with Modi Group, one of the most prominent companies in India.

Stefano Battioni, General Manager at Illva Saronno and Abhishek Modi, Managing Director of Modi Illva introduce this new product, its main features and its potential in terms of market sales.

What does the launch of Rockford mean to both ILLVA and Modi Illva?

B. The choice of proposing a whisky in India aims at entering an extremely promising market: by 2015 the Indian alcoholics market is estimated to grow over 10% more than in China, US and Europe combined.

Where is the new whisky to be produced?

M. Rockford will be bottled in the distillery in Modi Nagar, nearby Delhi. Opened in 1959, today, this plant produces top quality liqueurs thanks to the adoption of innovative technologies, as well as to the technical support that Illva provides.

What are the main features of the Indian market and in particular of local whisky production?

M. The market sells over 130 million cases per year and local whiskey consists of a mix between Scotch whisky, local spirits and pure alcohol.

What are Rockford’s distinguishing characteristics?

B. It is a blend of Scotch whisky aged in durmast barrels, then mixed with the best local production of Indian malt and fermented cereals. Rockford Reserve was created under the careful and experienced supervision of our Scottish master distiller; its deep golden colour and its smooth, delicate taste offers a perfect balance in which the distinctive and firm texture of old durmast harmonically combines with the light, fresh, sweetness of its fruity notes.

Who are your potential customers?

M. Our core target is mainly represented by Indian youthmen and women-who are well committed to their work and involved in a social lifestyle, which is continuously featuring top quality alcoholic drinks as a status symbol.

Per il lancio in India sono previste attività particolari?

B. e M. Abbiamo programmato diverse attività nella fase di start up. Una delle più importanti è quella che noi chiamiamo “Taste Test” nei club indiani. I potenziali consumatori proveranno Rockford all’interno dei club, moderni caffè letterari dove i giovani manager indiani si ritrovano a fine giornata per scambiare due chiacchiere e sorseggiare un buon drink.

Is any special activity scheduled for this Indian launch?

B. and M. A series of different activities will feature the start up stage. One of the most relevant is what we call the “Taste Test” in the Indian clubs. Potential consumers will have the chance to test Rockford at their clubs, modern Cafés Littéraires, where young Indian managers meet at the end of their working day to relax and enjoy a good drink.

Che aspettative avete su Rockford? Che tipo di posizionamento avrà sul mercato?

B. e M. Riteniamo che Rockford abbia tutte le carte in regola per avere successo e conquistare il segmento del whisky premium in India. During the thrilling 2012 Oscar Week, Disaronno paid tribute to the talent of movie stars’ costume designer Marlene Stewart, who was awarded with the “Disaronno Career Achievement In Film Award” at the “Costume Designers Guild Awards”. TIA ESPRESSO MARTINI

L’espressione alcolica del caffè shakerato è stata resa famosa da Dick Bradsell. Siamo nei ruggenti anni’80 quando Dick lavora al Fred’s Bar, uno dei migliori locali dell’epoca. Racconta che un giorno si trovò davanti una famosa top model (secondo indiscrezioni si tratterebbe di Naomi Campbell) che gli chiese un cocktail per tirarsi su e così Dick prese un espresso lo miscelò con Vodka, zucchero, liquore al caffè e Tia Maria, shakerò e lo servì in coppa martini alla famosa modella. Lei lo assaggiò e disse “È proprio quello di cui avevo bisogno!!! Come si chiama?” Dick rispose “Espresso Martini Madame” e questa fu la nascita dell’ormai noto cocktail. TIA ESPRESSO MARTINI-The idea to shake coffee with alcohol was first made famous by Dick Bradsell, while he was working as a bartender at Fred’s Bar-one of the best local hotspots in the 80’s. Rumor has it that a famous top model (some say the model was Naomi Campbell) walked up to the bar one night and asked for a drink that would, “Wake me up”.

This is when coffee liqueur Dick put a shot of espresso into the shaker, mixed it with Vodka, sugar, coffee liqueur and a dash of Tia Maria. He served the drink in a martini glass. The top model tasted it and exclaimed: “This is really what I needed! What’s the name of this cocktail?”

Dick answered: “Espresso Martini, Madame”. Tia Espresso Martini is our version of this delicious drink, featuring the unmistakable aromatic notes of Tia Maria, which enrich this cocktail adding more depth and smoothness to the mix. (Francesco Turrini)

“SKINNY” WHITE RUSSIAN

ll White Russian è senz’altro uno dei drink che almeno una volta nella vita tutti hanno provato. Venne creato negli Stati Uniti non molto lontano da dove Tia Maria era la protagonista delle feste più esclusive in Giamaica.

Siamo alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale e in tutto il mondo si sente la necessità di “brindare” in onore di un nuovo futuro. Il cocktail consiste nell’armonizzazione di Tia Maria e Vodka, in parti uguali o a piacimento, con l’aggiunta di panna fresca. Un “ever green” che non passa mai di moda. Nella nostra versione “Skinny”, questo cocktail diventa più leggero e meno calorico grazie alla sostituzione della panna con il latte scremato.

(Simone Caporale) “SKINNY” WHITE RUSSIAN-The White Russian is without a doubt one of the few drinks that everyone has tried at least once in their lives. This cocktail was created in the United States, not far from Jamaica, where Tia Maria was the protagonist of the most exclusive and glamorous celebrations. At the end of the second world war, the whole world had the feeling to celebrate and toast to a new and brighter future. This cocktail harmonically combines Tia Maria and Vodka-in equal parts or as per personal preference-with a dash of fresh cream.

A true “timeless” classic. In our “Skinny” version, the original White Russian becomes more light and has less calories as the cream is replaced by skimmed milk. (Simone Caporale)

Siamo nel 17esimo secolo e la ginger beer è una bevanda tipica della Marina di Sua Maestà, portata dai marinai inglesi nei quattro angoli dell’impero, dove tutt’ora è una specialità locale: Grecia, Caraibi, Africa e naturalmente Giamaica. Non è difficile immaginare che già allora il mix di rum, caffè, lime, spezie e ginger beer fosse apprezzato da marinai e avventurieri! La Giamaica è oggi produttore leader di questa bevanda che sta conoscendo un revival di grande portata, grazie anche a drink che riprendono la tradizione caraibica di miscelare ginger beer con rum scuri, dai forti sentori di caffè. Con Tia Maria, questa famiglia di cocktail trova oggi una delle sue espressioni più autentiche, inconfondibili e intriganti grazie a un esotico mix in cui si riconoscono speziate note di zenzero. It is not difficult to imagine how this fantastic mix of rum, coffee, lime, spices and ginger beer was appreciated so much by mariners and adventurers everywhere! Today, Jamaica is the leader in the production of ginger beer, which is gaining in popularity thanks to the variety of drink combinations coming from the Caribbean tradition to mix ginger with black, coffee-flavoured rums.

After the cheeky deejays with their cutting-edge electronic music and the haute cuisine of the most eclectic masterchefs, it’s time for bartenders to take on the challenge to show their mixability skills. Disaronno is on the lookout for bartenders for the return of its international competition, THE DISARONNO MIXING STAR. The winner of the competition will be given the chance to become a Bollywood movie star!

Creativity, skill and a natural artistic talent are requested to enter this eccentric competition which, in 2011, registered the participation of 650 bartenders from all over the world.

Thanks to Disaronno, the top cocktail creator in terms of balanced taste, originality and creativity will be given the extraordinary chance to fly to Mumbai, India, to play the role of ‘star bartender’ in a Bollywood production.

They will also visit the famous Indian film industry which is well-known worldwide for its pluri-awarded movies, such as “The Millionaire”.

This year the Global Competition extended its entries to 12 countries and 16 cities. From April until June, bartenders have been invited along to regional castings to the best bars, set up to resemble a real casting movie set. At the July 5th World Final in Berlin, bartenders will then compete for the international title of The Disaronno Mixing Star 2012.
