PANOPA expands Fleet Management in Poland PANOPA Logistik Polska Sp. z o.o. continues to grow in

the Fleet Management segment. For the fleet management services that PANOPA has been offering in Poland for only a few months now the number of fleet vehicles looked after is to increase continuously in the coming years. Fleet management covers vehicles of both the PANOPA Group and external customers. “The outsourcing market for fleet management services in Poland has hardly developed up to now,” says Alicja Cholodowska, who is jointly responsible for Fleet Management at PANOPA Logistik Polska together with Arkadiusz Kasprzak. “Many companies still manage their fleet themselves because they are worried about rising costs as well as loss of control,” substantiates Arkadiusz Kasprzak. “However, we don’t see that as a disadvantage, but as an opportunity to grow in this market.” All of this requires, in particular, explanatory work so the companies concerned realize how much savings and cost optimization potential they can achieve by assigning management of their fleet to an external specialist. “In Poland there are numerous fleets operated via full service leasing and customers are largely of the opinion that our service is equivalent to that of a leasing firm,” Alicja Cholodowska describes the situation. “That’s not the case, however, because no other company in Poland apart from PANOPA currently offers a complete package with all service modules of fleet management.” The PANOPA Group now looks after around 3,000 vehicles. On the basis of a detailed analysis, PANOPA Logistik Polska offers vehicle fleet customers tailored solutions with individual service modules. Agreements for full service as well as for specific services, such as invoicing, reporting, fuel card, tyre or damage management, are possible. Companies can thus focus fully on their business and core competencies. xxx Seite 2 von 2

REPORT CILT International Convention 2014, Malaysia Pegasus Award - Saliya Senanayake

Steven Rinsler, CILT

International Secretary, presented Saliya with the Pegasus Award and said:“The Pegasus Medal is awarded to Senior Members of the Institute by the Trustees for their Service to the Institute”.It was awarded to Saliya for his work over many years: As one of the people who drove the Sri Lanka Branch to be an important element in the Skills development of Supply Chain Logisticians and Transport Managers (efforts to galvanise the Sri Lanka Branch) As one who actively developed the Sri Lanka Brach to become of sufficient size to join the ranks of those Countries who Saliya Senanayake was presented with the Pegasus Award are counted as Territories in the Institute able to manage their own at this year’s International Council Meeting affairs and help the smaller Branches around them As an International Vice-President whose quiet and considered council was much appreciated by the Trustees of the Institute. We considered that Saliya Senanayake’s fully derived the honour.”

New Branch Certificate – Macao Keith Newton presented Macao with the well-deserved New Brand

Certificate, Keith congratulated Macao and said: “The journey to becoming a territory is matched by the efforts that are required to become a branch. This requires an understanding of what it takes to run a country organisation and a group of dedicated volunteers who share the vision of the Institute in leading transport and logistics within their country or territory. The latest addition becoming our 31st branch is Macao. This has demonstrated the strength of the Institute in south East Asia and China and the new branch has been formed with drive and leadership from a group locally and with support from the CILT in Hong Kong and Singapore. The leadership has come from Dr Michael Lam who is the new Branch Chairman. We call upon Dr Michael to collect the award from Dorothy.”

Dr Dorothy Chan presented Macao’s representative with the New Branch Certificate Award

New Territorial Organisation Certificate – Nigeria Keith Newton presented Nigeria with the New Territorial Organisation Certificate and said: “In our constitution we have both territories and branches and the journey from one to the other is a significant one as becoming a territory gives both benefits and obligations. In Birmingham in 2012 we announced the awarding of Territory status to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka was the first country to become a territory since the merger of the CIT with IOL in 1999 / 2000. Today we are delighted to recognise the award of Territory status to Nigeria. This award was made formally from January 1st 2014 and was recognised at the Africa Forum in March but it is appropriate to recognise Dr Dorothy Chan presented Nigeria’s representative with the New Territorial Organisation Certificate Award it as we gather as a complete International family at this Convention. To underline the achievement for Nigeria we should also recognise that prior to the award the Trustees reviewed how we award Territory status and created a set of processes that includes an audit visit. Nigeria is the first country to have had to undergo that process. They have demonstrated their readiness for taking on the new responsibilities and we also comment them on their 25% increase in members annually since 2012 & that has continued this year to date since the award. We welcome the National President of Nigeria, Major General Umaru Usman, to collect the award from Dorothy”

brought back the 15th Century environment with Melaka Malay’s traditional cultures as background scene. Delegates immersed themselves in Malaysian culture by enjoying coconut drinks and delicious kampong foods before joining in the traditional Malaysian dance ‘Joget Lambak’. As well as events taking place within the convention two technical site visits were organised for delegates at this year’s International Convention. Delegates visited the SIRIM Research Centre and Malaysia Maritime Academy and the feedback received from both events were extremely positive with delegates experiencing the ship simulation shown by Malaysian Maritime Academy.

The International convention ended with delegates displaying their competitive edge as they gathered for a fun, informal e vening of ten pin bowling. A huge success this year was the emphasis the organisers placed on developing a specific programme for spouses and family members with over 23 participants taking part. Activities included a visit to traditional Malay houses which demonstrated to the group the individuality and differences between each of Malaysia’s state’s style of house. Participants also visited the independence museum and enjoyed a walk in the recreational

V. (EPAL), held in Budapest on 5 June 2014. The symposium’s objective was to expand partnerships and networks among users, and to increase EPAL Euro Pallet presence on the Hungarian market further. “We are extremely pleased with the high level of interest. This shows that the EPAL Euro Pallet and the open pallet exchange pool is an important topic not only for pallet manufacturers and repairers, but for the users in commerce and industry as well”, said Martin Leibrandt, CEO at EPAL. The EPAL Euro Pallet, he adds, is a versatile, resilient and ecologically sustainable pallet that enjoys a high level of confidence among consumers due to the strict quality control it undergoes. EPAL Pallets can be exchanged without restriction One specific topic that was closely monitored by the participants, including representatives from Hungary’s MÁV railway service, and also discussed on the event’s sidelines, was the production and repair of EPAL pallets as carried out by companies licensed according to strict uniform criteria. “This guarantees unrestricted interchangeability”, underscores Martin Leibrandt. Unannounced audits performed by the independent company Bureau Veritas secure quality among manufacturers and repairers. “With this quality, the EPAL Euro Pallet meets all of the requirements of the Hungarian economy. That is why we want to gain further licensees in Hungary and expand the comprehensive network of production and repair businesses even further”, said Martin Leibrandt. In this context, many users stated they could not understand why MÁV continues to forego acceptance of unrestricted interchangeability. European Pallet Association e.V. President: Robert Holliger ? Gate terminal to build new facilities for distribution of LNG via vessels and barges

Rotterdam, Groningen Gasunie and Royal Vopak announce today that their joint venture, Gate terminal, has taken the final investment decision to add LNG break bulk infrastructure and services to the terminal. The new facility in the port of Rotterdam is expected to boost the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a transportation fuel in the Netherlands and Northwest Europe.

Highlights infrastructure enables distribution of low emission fuel alternative to transporters all over Europe Break bulk (or small-scale) services aim to split up large-scale LNG shipments into smaller quantities. This enables the distribution of LNG as a fuel for maritime vessels, ferries, trucks and industrial applications. The use of LNG as a fuel is expected to grow substantially following the introduction of stringent new emission regulations (SECA) for the marine sector in the North Sea and in the Baltic Sea from 2015. By using LNG as a fuel, barges, coasters, ferries, as well as heavy trucks, can reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 20%, their nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 85%, while reducing sulphur and particle emissions to almost zero. For these reasons, the Dutch government and the European Union encourage the development of LNG as a transportation fuel. In September 2011, Gate terminal, a joint venture of Gasunie and Vopak and located on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam, started operations. Gate terminal contributes to diversifying the European gas supply by providing access to LNG originating from countries around the world. At Gate, LNG is received, stored, regasified and then fed into the Northwest-European gas grid. In January 2014, Gate has successfully launched a tank truck loading station for trucks and containers, with a total capacity of 5,000 trucks per year. Over the past year, Gate has also developed into a hub, from where LNG can be re-exported to other parts of Europe and around the world.

ship-to-ship bunkering of seagoing vessels. The commissioning and commencement of the first services of this new LNG infrastructure for tanker barges and other small tankers (with a maximum capacity of 280 berthing slots per year), are scheduled for H1 2016. By then, a whole supply chain for LNG will be available in the port of Rotterdam. As launching customer, Shell plays a key role in enabling the project, which creates the conditions for the use of LNG as a transportation fuel to take off in Northern Europe. From Gate in Rotterdam, it will be possible for customers like Shell to supply LNG to bunker stations in the Wadden area, Scandinavia, the Baltics, but also to stations along the Rhine, Main and Danube – thus providing a low emissions fuel alternative to transporters all over Europe. The new infrastructure at Gate terminal will also represent an important step in achieving the goals of the ‘Green Deal Rhine and Wadden’. This partnership between the Dutch government, business and knowledge institutes aims to promote green growth. With its extended break bulk facilities, Gate terminal will be at the basis of cleaner transport by road, inland waterways and coastal shipping throughout Northern Europe. Surveys indicate that the introduction of LNG as a transport fuel could bring considerable economic growth and employment. The project is key to facilitate LNG storage and to secure LNG supply in Northwest European ports, such as Gothenburg. The maritime connection between Rotterdam and this area is regarded as a part of the EU ‘motorways of the sea’ concept and has therefore been selected for co-financing under the European Union’s TEN-T programme.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority is involved in this project with the design and construction of a dedicated harbour basin for LNG break bulk operations and hasalready introduced new regulations that allow LNG bunkering for inland barges and

SEA TRANSPORT

m.v. Roerborg launched succesfully On July the 4th, m.v. Roerborg was launched successfully at Shipyard Ferus Smit GmbH at Leer.

This ice-classed multipurpose vessel with a cargo capacity of 23.000 tons, measuring nearly 170 meters in length and 20,40 meters in width, is the largest vessel Wagenborg ever owned. This is also the largest vessel ever built at Shipyard Ferus Smit.

After m.v. Reestborg and m.v. Reggeborg, m.v. Roerborg is the third and last vessel in a series of three. The R-series is equipped with a so-called eco bow. In addition to this, these vessels have a relatively low engine capacity so they can be labelled “green. The R-series is unique in combining cargo capacity, hold dimensions and fuel consumption. Delivery of m.v. Roerborg is planned September 2014. Royal Wagenborg (head office) P.O. Why Build A Global CSO Community?

When CSOs

(Company Security Officers ) meet informally, they exchange ideas and information,

mutually agree the true risks their crews face and work out how best to co-operate. This often leads to the right equipment and services being procured to better defend ships, crews and cargoes. CSO Alliance has taken these valuable human interactions and embedded them into a secure online members-only platform. The outputs are formidable: 1. Provide Information: Saves CSOs time 2. Develop Opinion:

Saves their companies money

3. Create Community: Improves risk assessment for Captains and Crew 4. Build Alliance:

A co-ordinated campaign against organised crime

CSO Alliance: Security Through Community The CSO community is broad, stretching from the Merchant Marine, Super Yachts and Offshore Platforms to Ports, Terminals and Fishing vessels. We have met nearly all the key industry, military and association bodies, ranging from BIMCO, International Group of P&I Clubs, UKMTO and ReCAAP, to EUNAVFOR, Norwegian Hull Club and Intertanko, among others. The support we have received has been considerable, each organisation is unique and we are working to ensure meaningful long term co-operation. Over 120,000 maritime assets are managed by just 12,000 CSOs, with a combined annual spend of $12.5 billion on maritime goods and services. Out initial focus is the Merchant Marine, some 4,200 CSOs managing the security of 55,000 ships. +44 (0) 1296 329 202 or email membership@csoalliance.com Source : csoalliance.com

SEA TRANSPORT Time and tide wait for nobody: Shipowners and ports call for scrubber clarifications

Following the plenary meeting of the ESSF

(European Sustainable Shipping Forum) last week, European shipowners and port authorities urgently call for the clarification of the rules pertaining to the use of scrubbers The EU Sulphur Directive is set to come into force in only a few months, on 01 January 2015. The new sulphur requirements impose that ships sailing in the SECAs (Sulphur Emission Control Areas-the Channel, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea) use bunker fuels with a sulphur content of maximum 0.1% or that the same level of emissions is reached by the use of alternative fuels or compliant abatement technologies

compliant with the new rules by 01 January 2015”

“The Commission is actively promoting scrubbers as one of the solutions to meet the new SECA obligations. It is time though to replace the question marks with clear answers, in particular in the case of open loop systems” says Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General. “Policy makers should work towards a more coherent approach both at EU and Scrubbers have been identified as one of the few national level as concerns the conditions under which this abatement technologies available allowing ships to reduce technology can be used in the different Member States.” the sulphur content in their emissions. However, a lack of clarity in EU rules jeopardises their uptake. ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation) First of all, EU Member State legislation differs when it comes to discharges of water used by the scrubbers to filter ship exhaust gases. While some countries allow water discharges close to their shore, others don’t, while in some others strict conditionality applies.

Moreover, clarifications are urgently needed regarding the classification of the scrubber water discharges in the provisions of the EU Water Framework Directive, which foresees a progressive reduction for some pollutants and a complete phasing out for others. As a result, due to a lack of accurate information on the composition of these discharges, there is currently very high uncertainty on whether the operation of some scrubbers will be allowed in close proximity to the shore. “Not only does the current uncertainty jeopardise investments already made by operators, it also hampers the commissioning of future installations, while time is dangerously running out” pointed out Patrick Verhoeven, ECSA Secretary-General. “We urge the Commission and the Member States to clarify these points lest some operators start retrofitting their ships too late to be

RAIL TRANSPORT Turnkey Project Services Worldwide

UPS BROADENS MULTIMODAL EXPRESS PORTFOLIO WITH CHINA-EUROPE RAIL OFFERING

UTC NOW HAS THE LONGEST LOAD-BED 16-AXLE RAIL

CAR IN NORTH AMERICA The Project Cargo Logistics experts at UTC Overseas today unveiled their own newly constructed railcar, featuring a 40-foot load deck, the longest of any 16 -axle depressed center car currently available in North America. The extra-length deck and 400+ short ton load capacity make the new car ideally suited for the transport of heavy and oversized components such as turbines, generators, stators, engines, gensets and transformers. The delivery of the new car, after four months of construction, is particularly timely given the limited national inventory of such specialized rolling stock and increasing competition for such resources, driven in part by the global effort to modernize, diversify and expand power generation and distribution systems. UTC Executive Vice President Marco Poisler said under a dozen larger-length cars are currently available on the nationwide leasing market. “Our new design, created by UTC’s own rail engineering team, greatly enhances our ability to serve our customers in a timely and efficient manner, and reduces our reliance on the scarce leasing market.” “Our new design, created by UTC’s own rail engineering team, greatly enhances our ability to serve our customers in a timely and efficient manner, and reduces our reliance on the scarce leasing market,” he added.

Service helps customers balance speed and cost in

supply chains BRUSSELS, UPS® (NYSE: UPS) announced today the addition of a Full Container Load (FCL) rail solution to its China-to-Europe transportation lineup. The move is the latest in a series of expansions of UPS’s worldwide forwarding services designed to offer customers more choices for shipping. “Our customers are looking to UPS for solutions that help them better manage their inventory and reach new markets while balancing the costs of doing business,” said Jens Poggensee, vice president for Freight Forwarding, UPS Europe. “We are excited to add a rail solution for our European customers to complement our existing ocean and air freight and package capabilities in one of the world’s largest freight lanes. Customers can now enjoy access to a broader transportation portfolio to better meet their business needs.” The rail service is available on two distinct routes, operating from Chengdu, China, to Lodz, Poland, and from Zhengzhou, China, to Hamburg, Germany. Combining the rail movement with UPS’s existing integrated freight and truck networks, the service is up to 50 percent faster than ocean freight and enables cost savings of up to 70 percent when compared to air freight*, with UPS technology providing end-to-end visibility and tracking. The new rail service is well-timed to meet the needs of customers looking to balance supply chains. According to a recent Seabury survey[1], 71 percent of customers expect a moderate to strong shift to lower cost modes in the next 1-3 years. The rail solution is offered to customers on a contractual basis, and follows several enhancements in 2013 to UPS’s multimodal portfolio of services in Europe, including the expansion of UPS Preferred™ Less-Than-Container Load (LCL) ocean freight service from Asia to Mexico and from Europe to the U.S. and Canada, and the introduction of UPS Worldwide Express Freight™ service for urgent, time-sensitive heavyweight shipments. ROAD TRANSPORT ITF and FIA Launch New Road Safety Co-operation on Traffic Crash Data

Three-year

programme agreed to improve collection and use of traffic crash data in joint effort for UN Decade of Action for Road Safety Leipzig, Germany A new partnership which will focus on the improvement of road safety data and its analysis was agreed today between the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the International Transport Forum (ITF). FIA President Jean Todt signed the agreement together with the ITF Secretary-General José Viegas at an official ceremony at the ITF’s Annual Summit of Transport Ministers in Leipzig, Germany on 21 May 2014. The initiative aims to support the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety in its goal of significantly reducing traffic-related deaths and injuries by 2020. Around 1.3 million people die in road crashes every year and around 50 million are seriously injured. The global death toll from traffic is expected to rise to 2 million annually with a further 80 million serious injuries by 2020 unless action is taken. The co-operation will focus on improving data collection, the analysis of which underpins road safety policy decisions. Welcoming the new partnership, FIA President Jean Todt said: “Together with the ITF we have agreed to work on the development of universal road traffic safety indicators which can be of great help to our members when addressing national road safety problems. The expertise which the ITF has acquired in the area of road safety data collection and analysis will allow us to better evaluate crash trends, improve the analysis of risk exposure and design more effective road safety policies”. “Good road safety data is critical for any road safety research, policy and crash prevention activities”, said ITF Secretary-General José Viegas, praising FIA’s strong support and commitment. “The lack of road safety data globally creates a significant difficulty in assessing the specific road safety issues, evaluating the economic impact of road traffic deaths and injuries, identifying the optimum interventions and monitoring the impact of countermeasures.” Among other road safety activities, the ITF, through its International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD), has worked since 2008 to organise twinnings between interested countries to improve the collection and analysis of road safety data. The twinnings have brought together countries such as Argentina/Spain, Cambodia/Netherlands and Jamaica/UK. The successful twinning between Spain and Argentina spawned the IberoAmerican Road Safety Observatory (OISEVI), a regional road safety collaboration

62

that brings together 22 countries. The ITF also publishes the IRTAD Road Safety Annual Report, a performance review, and manages the IRTAD road safety database, with data from 32 countries. The FIA Action for Road Safety Campaign was launched in May 2011 to support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. The campaign has involved: Advocacy at the highest levels to push leaders to commit to road safety both nationally and globally; Supporting action by the 236 FIA Member Clubs in 139 countries worldwide to educate and advocate for safer roads, vehicles and behaviour on the ground. So far, 90 road safety projects in over 50 countries have been funded by the FIA Road Safety Grant Programme; FIA has also launched worldwide road safety campaigns and programs, either alone or with partners, both institutional and private. For example, together with Michelin, FIA has promoted 10 Golden Rules for Road Safety worldwide. AIR TRANSPORT Volga-Dnepr delivers 80 tons of oil and gas equipment to Cape Town

An-124-100 and IL-76TD-90VD freighters from

Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ fleet were called into action to deliver more than 80 tons of oil and gas equipment to Cape Town in South Africa. The An-124 flight carried five 13-metre pipes from Singapore weighing 60 tons. The pipes were shipped to Singapore’s Changi Airport by truck and then placed carefully onto airport dollies and towed to the aircraft for loading. The aircraft’s onboard cranes were used to load the pipes. The delivery was operated on behalf of logistics company UTI South Africa and was contracted under the Ruslan International An-124 joint venture. Earlier, the urgent transportation of oil equipment from Stavanger, Norway, was organised by Volga-Dnepr’s experts onboard an IL-76TD-90VD cargo aircraft. The shipment of two subsea risers measuring 13.5m and 7.5m in length was required to complete the fast repair of a broken semi-submersible drilling rig. This equipment was

delivered on behalf of French broker ATS International. “The fast delivery of the risers to Cape Town helped the oil and gas operation to resume production at the rig within a short timescale. We have a lot of expertise in meeting such urgent customer requests and in situations of extreme urgency when each day of interruption to production can result in substantial financial losses, we are always ready to provide customers with fast and effective solutions to support them in keeping their projects on track” said Clair Gunn, Commercial Executive, at Volga-Dnepr. ENERGY

REC increases its solar footprint in Thailand Munich,

REC, the largest European supplier of solar panels globally, announces the starting operation of six REC-powered solar plants in Thailand, in Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri provinces, totalling 72 MW. Owned and operated by Yanhee EGCO Holding, this project brings the number of utility-scale installations with REC solar panels in Thailand to seven, and generates enough power for approximately 40,000 Thai households. Over 11 months of construction, 292,608 REC Peak Energy solar panels with 245 Wp and 250 Wp were ground-mounted over a total area of 1,175 rai (1.88 km2) in this greenfield project. All the electricity produced – 103 GWh per year – is sold to Thailand’s Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) under a Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) contract, reducing the country’s CO2 footprint by over 59,000 metric tons*. “We are excited to be part of this large-scale project in Thailand with Yanhee EGCO,” says Jenvit Jivakulchainan, Country Manager at REC in Thailand. “This project reaffirms our market leadership in the region with total REC installations of 86 MW in Thailand. We at REC have worked hard to strengthen our presence in the growing Thai market. In 2013, around 15% of our MW shipments went to Southeast Asia, with Thailand being one of the key markets for REC. We expect Thailand to remain most attractive country in this region.” The project in the Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri provinces is EGCO’s first-ever installation using REC solar panels. Vichan Sripairoj, General Manager, EGCO, affirms that REC solar panels were an excellent choice: “We selected solar panels by REC owing to their reliability and efficiency, both of which are backed by strong warranties on product quality and power output. In a project on this scale, the efficiency and reliability of the solar panels are the key to delivering the expected return

on investment while also generating clean, renewable energy for the country.” As one of the region’s highest performing solar power installations, the new six-plant project points the way forward for the country’s solar sector, with the efficiency of REC solar panels optimizing the land use by providing higher yields. As one of the first countries in Asia to launch incentive schemes for renewable power generation, Thailand remains one of the region’s most attractive countries for project investment. Despite the gradual phase-out of the first incentive schemes, which offered premiums on feed-in tariffs to incentivise new solar installations, Thailand has pledged fresh support for solar power, introducing preferential feed-in tariffs for rooftop and ground-mounted solar systems. With the country targeting a solar capacity of 3 GW by 2021, large-scale utility projects such as the six EGCO plants are fully aligned with the country’s strategic direction for generating more energy from renewable sources and reduce its dependency on electricity imports. By 2021, Thailand targets renewable energies reaching 25% of its total electricity mix. * According to data from the Thai Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) For further information please contact: Agnieszka Schulze Public Relations Manager, REC Leopoldstr. 175, 80804 Munich, Germany Phone +49 89 54 04 67 225 Email agnieszka.schulze@recgroup.com Jenvit Jivakulchainan (Mr) General Manager REC Systems (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The Arctic is of increasing global importance and is very much in focus within the offshore and shipping industries. Climate change, the exploitation of Arctic resources and environmental threats are topics of great public concern, and which the UiT takes special interest in. As a part of its new priority program, the Maritime Faculty will move into a brand new technology building co-located with the rest of the University . The new premises are specially designed to house the extended simulators. The University benefits from a Long-Term-Service-Support-Program with Kongsberg Maritime, which allows significant upgrades of new software technology and new functionalities. By this the University will have the latest and most advanced simulator system available. In addition, Kongsberg Maritime was awarded a contract for extension of the existing main ship’s bridge simulator with a new 6 DOF (degree of freedom) motion platform, more visual channels and integration with a DNV class A Dynamic Positioning (DP) simulator. With its simulator upgrade and expansions in place, UiT will offer students and external partners a wide range of courses within navigation and ship maneuvering, including ice-navigation, ice management, emergency, search & rescue and operations in the Artic and harsh environments. The expansion of new simulator capabilities are geographically very relevant to the UiT, since it will be able to meet demand for advanced training for ship owners, oil & gas companies and other organisations operating, exploring and developing in Northern Norway and arctic waters, especially in light of the growing interest for exploration & production in the high north.

TT Club Warns of Cyber-crime Risks Speaking

at TOC Europe’s Container Supply Chain Conference in London, freight insurance specialist TT Club’s Mike Yarwood has warned of the increasing dangers posed by ‘cyber-criminals’ targeting carriers, ports, terminals and other transport operators. Examples of computer hacking affecting organisations, companies and individuals are numerous. Data and information used to focus on high value cargo and susceptible loads. As invasive cyber-technology becomes more widely available, a greater risk to legitimate trade is emerging, exposing operators in the supply chain to economic and commercial damage.
