You’ve found your perfect princess dress with a sweetheart neckline, only to be distracted by the black bra straps on your shoulders! Make sure you wear nude underwear including a strapless bra when you go shopping. It’s also a good idea to take shoes of a heel height you feel comfortable in. It’s no secret that buying your wedding dress online is often a huge risk with terrible consequences. To guarantee you’re getting exactly what you pay for, shop for your dress in a bridal boutique. TAKE PEOPLE YOU TRUST WITH YOU

Having a herd of people with you on your shopping experience can be more of a hindrance than a help. People will have their own opinion of which style they think you should choose, but ultimately, it’s your decision. It’s wise
When you’re trying on all the beautiful dresses, you may want to take photos of yourself to remind you of your favourite styles, however, this is often prohibited. It isn’t because the boutique owner is being mean, it’s for

COUNTERFEIT DRESSES
IF IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
DO YOUR RESEARCH VISIT THE WEBSITES OF YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNERS TO FIND THEIR AUTHORISED STOCKISTS
PRINCESS IMPERFECTION THIS DRESS LOOKED MORE LIKE A FANCY DRESS COSTUME THAN THE PRETTY GOWN IT WAS MEANT TO BE
Ensure your wedding dress dreams don’t get shattered by falling for illegal counterfeit schemes. We reveal all the pitfalls...
A
dvertised as a gorgeous dress from one of your favourite designers, but at a third of the price, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is. Designers are constantly battling against crooked counterfeit dress companies that rip off their designs and deliver something that’s not what the bride expected, leaving them absolutely heartbroken. We reveal true stories and top tips to ensure you don’t make the same mistakes as other unfortunate brides…
“With the number of counterfeit websites rising, we strongly encourage brides to be aware of who they are purchasing their gown from,” says Rachael Rowles of Allure Bridals. “More and more brides are struggling just weeks before their wedding to find an emergency replacement gown for the designer knock-offs they purchased online from unauthorised manufacturers. While the low price may be tempting, you could end up spending more on a second dress to replace the original.
32 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ J U L Y 2 0 1 5
Always check the designer’s website for authorised retailers if you are concerned about purchasing online.” And it’s not just the wedding dress to be aware of, as real bride-to-be Alice reveals… “Having been inspired by a photo I’d seen on my photographer’s blog of a gorgeous bride and her bridesmaids getting ready in silk dressing gowns, I wanted to recreate something similar for the morning of my own wedding as a gift for my
girls. I searched online for silk robes, and came across an eBay shop with exactly what I was looking for. The photo of the robes was really pretty – they were a beautiful blush pink colour, the perfect length and looked a really nice fit. However, what turned up on my doorstep was nothing like the photo advertised. They were inappropriately short, polyester, hideous, static-inducing nightmares, and came with a free (unwanted!) g-string. I’ll never make that mistake again.”
UNLESS STATED, ALL COUNTERFEIT DRESS IMAGES SUPPLIED BY KNOCK OFF NIGHTMARES
A LESSON LEARNED THIS BRIDE SAW HER DREAM DRESS, ABOVE, TRIED IT ON IN A BOUTIQUE, THEN SAW AN ONLINE COPY FAR CHEAPER
“Here’s a photo of a counterfeit wedding dress that was purchased online. If you find a price on the internet that seems too good to be true, then it probably is! As you can see, the quality of the knock-off dress is nowhere near the quality of the authentic Allure gown. So shop carefully!” Allure Bridals

A NDR E A & Y UR I Gorgeous bride Andrea reveals all about her dreamy wedding day How did Yuri propose? “Yuri Planned to propose to me in London. We were heading there for a weekend away, but as soon as the ring was made and he collected it, he couldn’t keep it from me for a week! He came running through the house up to the bathroom (I was in the bath getting ready to go to my 23rd birthday party) and popped the question there and then.

He handed me the most beautiful ring and I said yes immediately. I literally had no idea and was so shocked.”
What did you wear?

And the accessories?
“I chose Manolo Blahnik Hangisi nude heels, a cathedral veil from Suzanne Neville, a

“Nude, classic and elegant details to match the venue. I also wanted to incorporate London as it’s like a second home to me, so there was a London bus as transport for guests, tables named after London streets and I also

What was the highlight of your day?
“Performing our dance to Etta James’ At last. We were so nervous about getting it right, but we did.”
What was your best buy? What’s your saving tip? “Apart from our photographer and videographer, I loved our make-up artist Flossy & Leigh. Not only did they do an amazing job, but they helped all of us get into our dresses and made me feel so relaxed.”

How did you feel when you first saw him up the aisle? “I felt like my heart was going to burst, it was a feeling of sheer and utter joy. Ollie had tears streaming down his cheeks – I just wanted to run down the aisle and hug him.”

A NATURAL THEME
LOUISE & A NTHON Y Nature was the theme running through this bride’s day. She shares the details... How did Anthony propose?
“He took me to Rome for a mini break as a gift for my 30th birthday. On the first day we spent the afternoon having a walk around the city getting our bearings and seeing the main tourist spots. The walk turned into a bit of an epic journey as Anthony was apparently searching out the ideal spot to propose! After the sun had set in 72 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ J U L Y 2 0 1 5

collection. I saw it in a magazine and fell in love with it, nothing else I tried on would do, but I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere. Eventually I asked the lovely girls at the Wedding Boutique Cheshire to order it in for me. As soon as I tried it on, I loved it.”
And the accessories?
“My shoes were from Pink by Paradox, which I ordered from Elegant Steps and had them dyed sky blue. My Jewellery was kept quite simple. My earrings were a Valentine/ early wedding gift from Anthony – a simple white gold and pearl drop.”

“The theme was ‘spring watch’. I wanted elements of woodland and nature to run through the day. The inspiration for this was the real tree used for our table plan, with creatures perched on it as the table names.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The ceremony was definitely the best part. It suddenly felt very real, very big and very serious, but in a really good way!”

The enchanted woodland look is becoming a popular trend with rich tones and most importantly, lights. Flowers can be a big cost in any wedding, but there are more affordable options that are bang on trend. STRONG THEMING
If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want your wedding to look like, you can a) end up with clashing styles and b) waste a load of money on purchases you later discover just don’t work. The best thing to do is to use Pinterest and cut out your favourite finds from wedding magazines, then
use these to create the look you want. Right now everyone’s loving Art Deco, coral and pastel florals. BUDGET FROM THE OFF
OK, so it’s not technically a trend, but it is essential! Being clear about how much you are willing to spend on each element of your day will help you keep under budget.
Crafty brides can save a bundle if they have the time and patience to DIY their day. From homemade jam and chutney favours to paper floral bouquets and bunting, you can make your day really unique and save money at the same time. Just make sure the materials don’t cost more than buying from a professional supplier, or you could end up with disastrous styling and a hole in your pocket, too!

PHOTOGRAPHS Get a cover-to-cover perfect album of your big day with these essential tips
HELPING HANDS Throughout the day the likelihood is that your make-up will smudge, your hairstyle will start to fall out and you will get food caught in your teeth! Make sure your bridesmaids are equipped with make-up top-ups, tooth picks and hairspray and ask them to check you every couple of hours or when you go to the toilet. FUN PROPS Your day is filled with fun, laughter and joy, so make sure your photographer captures this. Have a dress up box of props that you and your guests can use throughout the day or evening. You can set up a DIY photobooth too, and use the pictures for a fun, informal album. We love funky sunglasses, blow up guitars and feather boas!
KEEP ON TOP OF TIMINGS When you have a clear idea of the timings of your day, send this to your photographer. Ensure they arrive at least an hour before the wedding to get the details shots as well as photos of you getting ready. Be clear that you want them to stay until the first dance, as some photographers will consider the end of the day shortly after the speeches.

HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN Don’t let the possibility of rain ruin your day.You may have dreamed of a sunny soirée but sometimes Blighty just won’t play by the rules! With this in mind, ensure your photographer has all the appropriate additional lighting in case it’s cloudy, and have indoor spots in mind for photos, too.

WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT? Many couples make the mistake of assuming that after the wedding the photos are theirs and the photographer has no rights to them, but this is almost never the case. The photographers often have copyrights to the photos, meaning that they can submit them to magazines and blogs, or use them in their own promotional materials. If you aren’t happy about this, make sure it’s cleared up early on.

GET PHOTOS OF THE DETAILS The little details are often the most complimented elements of a wedding by guests, and couples tend to put a lot of time into choosing them or even making them themselves. Make sure all that hard work is reflected in your photos. Get your photographer to capture the reception room set up before guests sit down to eat (and wreck it!).

CONSIDER A PHOTOBOOTH As well as the professional shots, it’s always nice to have the loopy photos from a booth when you and your guests are in full party swing! They can be costly, but they will keep guests entertained and will be a fun addition to your photos, too.
LITTLE TREASURES Aside from you, the attention on your big day will be towards any little ones you’ve invited. Dressed up smartly, young attendants will have the awwfactor, so get a photo of them. They grow up so fast, it will be a great memento for them to look back on (or squirm over!) when they’re older.
MAKE A SHOT LIST Your photographer will know the essentials, but it’s still important that you make sure that all the important shots (with particular family members or in specific places) are noted by your photographer.
