ere we are – the last issue of 2015! We can’t believe how fast this year has gone, and what a year it’s been. Since our launch in May, we’ve produced six gorgeous issues and teamed up with some of the biggest names in bridal to give you a great magazine filled with top planning tips and advice, the latest in wedding fashion, stunning real weddings and much more! We’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support for us, and we will strive to give you even better features in 2016. Professional bridal make-up artist, Becky Flynn, reveals how you can create these two great looks for your big day... VINTAGE GLAMOUR
THE EYES Keep the eye shadow colours fairly neutral. Start with a wash of colour such as MAC Naked Lunch and then to add a little depth, one of my most-used colours is MAC Satin Taupe. For the liner use a powder, gel or liquid liner for a bold, crisp line. My favourites are Maybelline Master Precise liner and Bobbi Brown gel liner. Draw a thin line along your lash line, making it a
little thicker on the outer edge, then mark a dot where you’d like the wing to end. Wing the liner out and have a cotton bud on hand to clean it up, leaving the line precise.

THE SKIN Focus on creating a beautifully flawless complexion. Some of my favourite reds are Lancome Rouge in Love 170N, Dior Diorific 038, MAC Ladybug & MAC Russian Red. Apply this with a lip brush and you will get a cleaner application.

What was your best buy? “I don’t know how I can choose! The venue was out of this world, so beautiful and I couldn’t

imagine marrying anywhere else, plus it was affordable! We both wanted a photo booth but couldn’t afford one, so we had an Ant and Dec cardboard cut out, an old frame and spent £40 on props and made our own. Both the
children and adults had so much fun with it, it really made the day even more special. We also got a Polaroid camera for our guest book, and what an amazing idea that was! Our book is brilliant with so many funny photos.”
What’s your saving tip?
“We didn’t really need to save too much before the wedding because we had savings already that we used to pay for it. Each month we bought bits and bobs, which worked really well for us, rather than buying in
one go. I’d also suggest making a lot of stuff yourself to cut the price of things. Not only will it save you money but it’s very enjoyable, too! Since the wedding I’ve been feeling lost without having to make things for the big day!” D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 5 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ 59

“In July 2013 we bought our first home together in Surrey. As we moved in, Matt surprised me with a holiday to Corfu! On our second day there,
while we were having a few drinks on our balcony at sunset, Matt got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I instantly said yes! I was so happy.”

“My wedding dress! By buying the sample in the shop, I saved myself £800! Matt’s favourite was our L & M light letters from Mad Philomena. They looked fabulous in the orangery for our evening ceremony.”

“Do lots of research into prices. Having a good idea of what’s out there will help you save money.”

What dress did you wear? “I didn’t have a lot of time to organise the wedding or look for the dress. I finally found my beautiful Calas dress in a small shop in Paris called Nectar Mariage.”
And the accessories?
“I had silver earrings that I bought in a small boutique nearby our apartment in Paris. My shoes by Guiseppe Zanotti Design were a 64 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 5
gift. I also put flowers in my hair and wore a short veil.”
Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from? “My bridesmaids were my little sister who wore a dress from Debenhams and my best

“The groom wore a royal blue suit and accessories from Zara.”
What was your theme? “Rustic countryside, traditional but with a
touch of chic. A nice combination! Most of the decoration was handmade or borrowed. This included haystacks, sheets to cover them, wild flowers and sunflowers everywhere, which we picked the night before in uncultivated fields.”

“Absolute Beginners by David Bowie played at the exit of the church, which was a real highlight along with our private photoshoot, which was very intimate – we had lots of fun!”
What was your best buy? What’s your saving tip? “My wedding dress, the rings, my caterer – a fantastic French Chef Jerome Dupouis – and the photographer, Tomasz Kozak from Sound Pictures. I still can’t stop looking at the photos even now!”

“DIY! Our flowers were grown in our garden and used on the day, we bought hoola hoops and transformed them into flower circles for decoration, and we accumulated coffee jars for the flowers to go into
in the months before the wedding. I looked for many ideas on the internet, and Pinterest was a great tool to visualise the venue and store decoration ideas that we could keep referring to. Working together with family
and friends meant not only was preparation less stressful and saved money, but I also got to spend time with family creating bits for the day, too. I know it meant a lot to people that they were so involved in the build up to our wedding day.”

What was your theme?
“We wanted a relaxed feel without a definite colour scheme. We mixed and matched summer pastel colours and handmade as much as possible to give our day a personable feel. Over eighteen months, Carmen sourced fabric from charity shops in blues, yellows, pinks and peaches, and handmade over 50 metres of bunting. This pulled together the peach colours of the
bridesmaid dresses and the flowers in the blue ball mason jars, which were our table centres.”
What was your best buy? “Our best buy would definitely be our photographer – Simon Biffen. He was amazing with us prior to the day helping us prepare, during the celebrations he made us feel completely at ease and mixed well with our
guests, but most of all the fantastic images we have of our day are something we can treasure forever and show our children in the future. You can’t put a price on that.”
What’s your saving tip?
“Don’t leave everything to the last minute and have a thrifty wife like mine who isn’t afraid of ebay, charity shops and hand-me-downs!”

A LICE & M ATT A gorgeous day in Somerset, filled with pastel hues. We caught up with bride Alice... How did Matt propose? “Matt proposed on the 1st December 2013. We’d been to a friend’s wedding the night before, when Matt woke me up the next
morning (a little too enthusiastically because I was slightly hung over!) and insisted we go for a walk around Tarr Steps on Exmoor. I was really reluctant to go, trudging

around Exmoor on a cold December morning was the last thing I wanted to do, but Matt was weirdly insistent we go. We were walking along the bank of the river, when he stopped and said: “I’ve actually brought you here under false pretences…” And with that he got down
on one knee, produced a ring box and asked me to marry him.”
What dress did you wear? “My dress was Mimi by Sassi Holford, which I bought from the Taunton boutique. I affectionately called it ‘the cloud’ because the huge tulle skirt reminded me of

called Florence on display, she was turned into a photobooth for the day. We also put up lots of bunting, balloons, deck chairs and plenty of beautiful flowers, which were provided by Rachel Husband from the Rose Shed.”

“I absolutely loved the speeches. They were the perfect mix of hilarious and touchingly sweet, along with being perfectly delivered. They gave me a really special opportunity to look
around the room and see everyone I loved and cared about laughing and just enjoying the day.”
What was your best buy?
“Definitely Studio 1208 for our photography and videography. Sadly, very shortly after our wedding
we lost someone very close to us and our wedding pictures and video hold a whole new significance to us both now that he is gone. We can look back and see him, and be reminded of how happy and proud he was on our special day.”
What’s your saving tip?
