utumn has arrived, and it’s my most favourite season of the year. To celebrate, we’ve packed this beautiful issue with dreamy details for you, so no matter what time of year you wed, we’ve got you covered! Trend Report Discover all the latest bridal fashion trends for 2017, as seen at The Harrogate Bridal Show...
T
he Harrogate Bridal Show is one of the biggest bridal trade events in the world, attracting all the best designers and manufacturers in wedding fashion from all around the globe. We went along to see what the latest trends are for 2017, here’s what we discovered… SENSATIONAL SKIRTS We predicted that high-low
hemlines would be big for 2017, and it looks like we were right! Many designers have tapped into this trend, with tea-length fronts and longer trains at the back. Perfect for brides that want something a little different, and a great excuse to show off those shoes! We also saw loads of beautiful full skirts with fabulous layers, pastel-coloured underskirts and sumptuous details from
feathers to all-over sparkle. We found our favourites at JLM, Modeca, Justin Alexander and Nicole Spose.

trains at Harrogate, with some designers making this the main focus of the whole dress. We found some of the best examples of this by Mon Cheri and Enzoani, and we loved the extended lace trains by Kittychen and Diane Legrand.
THE WEDDING DRESS OF THE YEAR LOV E OUR
Love Our Wedding were proud sponsors of this coveted Bridal Buyer Award this year, and even up until the moment we opened the card to announce the winner, we couldn’t call who would take the crown! The finalists included Ellis Bridals, Enzoani, Essense of Australia, Maggie Sottero and Mori Lee, but it was the stunning Sheridan design by Watters Brides that took the title. This beautiful strapless dress features a beautifully-embellished bodice and sweetheart neckline, finished with a full A-line tulle skirt. If this design is anything to go by, fairytale style is definitely set to make a big comeback for 2017. A gorgeous gown, and a worthy winner.

‘Losing weight gave me the courage to propose!’
A
ndrew Brown, 47, is a civil engineer from Weymouth, Dorset who lost 4st 1½lbs with Slimming World. Andrew hadn’t thought about his diet before he started Slimming World. “It sounds strange now, but before finding Slimming World, I didn’t even connect my eating habits with my weight,” remembers Andrew. “Although it had crept up since my 20s, taking my 34ins waist up to 40ins, I told myself it was inevitable that people got bigger as they got older. I was just a tall bloke with a big appetite – especially for greasy full
English breakfasts, doorstep sandwiches with loads of butter and mayonnaise, pies and chocolate treats!” It was Andrew’s children who made him rethink his lifestyle. “I knew I was missing out on quality time with my boys, Oscar and Elliot,” says Andrew. “They wanted Dad to play football with them and run along the beach like their friends’ fathers. At over 18st, though, I’d get out of breath after a few minutes, and
would end up just sitting and watching. I didn’t like the idea of people looking at me, either, and it was for this same reason I hadn’t asked my girlfriend, Claire, to marry me.” On a family holiday in 2013, Andrew was finally forced to confront the way he looked. “The campsite pool had a strict dress code for men: no baggy shorts; only trunks,” remembers Andrew. “I felt so self-conscious, and when I saw

the pictures Claire and the kids had taken, I barely recognised myself. I was embarrassed and ashamed. It dawned on me that if I really wanted to get to grips with my weight problem, I needed to change my diet.” Andrew discovered Sliming World and decided to give it a go. “I must have sat in the car for at least 15 minutes, plucking up the courage to walk through the door; I was anxious I’d be the only man and everyone would laugh,” explains Andrew. “My fears were completely unfounded. The first thing my Consultant, Lucy, did was introduce me to another man who’d lost several

ZESTY LAMB WITH CANNELLINI BEANS The aromas of rosemary and lemon really bring out the best in lamb, and this simple dish will be loved by slimmers and non-slimmers alike. SERVES 4 READY IN 30 MINUTES PLUS MARINATING INGREDIENTS 8 lean lamb leg steaks, visible fat removed Finely grated zest and juice of 1 unwaxed lemon 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary, plus sprigs to garnish 2 tsp ground paprika 4 garlic cloves, crushed Low calorie cooking spray 1 onion, finely chopped 250ml boiling chicken stock 2 x 400g cans cannellini beans, drained 200g orange and red baby plum tomatoes, halved 100g baby spinach leaves Salt and freshly ground black pepper Salad or vegetables to serve INSTRUCTIONS 1. Put the lamb steaks in a large bowl and add the lemon zest and juice, rosemary, half the paprika and half the garlic. Toss to

Divide the bean mixture between plates, top with the lamb and garnish with rosemary sprigs. Serve hot with salad or your favourite vegetables. We asked the bridesmaids to buy a dress in blush pink, and the ushers were instructed to wear whatever suit they wanted to, as long as they wore a white shirt and braces so we would match with jackets off.”

What was the highlight of your day? “We both loved the entire day, but my
personal highlight was during our first dance. We chose Otis Redding’s Try a Little Tenderness as we wanted a song that started off slow but built up. When the tempo lifted I beckoned our friends and family onto the dancefloor. I have this incredible memory of all our favourite people flooding onto the dancefloor with massive smiles on their faces and the buzz that was
already in the air went up another notch. Guests said what a beautiful moment it was as they could see how close all of our friends are.”
What was your best buy?
“I always wanted bow ties for the groomsmen. I found them from a US company, and I was overjoyed when they arrived. They even custom made a small one for my son Ezra to wear.”

What dress did you wear? “My gorgeous dress was by Jasmine Couture purchased from White Dresses & Tiaras in Crawley (where I work). My boss Claire said I mustn’t feel bad if I wanted to shop around, but I knew my dress was the one for me. From my first day working there, it was love at first sight! Obviously I’m biased, but White Dresses & Tiaras is a beautiful shop, and

the team are always so helpful. My generous Nan purchased my dress for me. I lost my Dad when I was seven and she told me it’s what he would have wanted, so it meant even more to me.”

“Walking down the aisle and becoming a proper family, sharing the same name with Nigel’s three children and our little boy.”

WHAT IS THE HOTEL LIKE?
The Arch is a wow-factor Georgian townhouse hotel in Marble Arch, London. The grandeur of the exterior is only rivalled by the incredible decor inside – in fact, The Arch have purposely made the hotel a piece of art using the best names in the business to create murals, paintings and decor throughout the hotel. Each bedroom has funky wallpaper specific to its room too, giving each one a sense of personality. Furnished to the highest quality with plasma TVs, comfy queen or king-sized beds and many with double bathrooms, these rooms will make you feel at home, with an A-list gloss. To give you an idea of the glamour here, Madonna has a threestorey apartment opposite the hotel, and even the bathtubs have TV screens! The perfect place to celebrate in the capital.
DO THEY HOST HEN PARTIES?
Yes they do, and they’re as grand as you’d expect from this sophisticated venue. We experienced the bridal shower afternoon tea to see exactly what was on offer, and we couldn’t believe how fancy everything was, without being pretentious. With a choice of teas on offer, or a glass of bubbles if you wish (of course you do!), followed by a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and jams, your afternoon tea is full of treats.You’ll be left to your own devices to chat away whilst enjoying the tea in a private room downstairs. The service is impeccable, with a lovely waiter/ waitress serving every round and checking all is ok, without being intrusive. The perfect way to celebrate with your girls before the big day, whilst keeping it classy.

Despite it being in one of London’s most exclusive areas and the 5 stars of the hotel shining through, the price isn’t as expensive as you’d expect.
