My favourite picks this month! 1. Style 21606 by Morilee is a floor-sweeping stunner! I adore the neckline and shimmering material. 2. Classic dangly earrings will complete any look. This pair from Yarwood-White is a great example for £40. 3. Not a big fan of heels? Try this pretty shoe from Lulipa for £46.99. 4. Opt for a truly regal theme with this two-tier crown cake from Rosalind Miller Cakes.

hings have been really unusual of late (to put it mildly!), but I can really feel a sense of normality returning to the world, and we’re here for it! Wedding restrictions are gradually lifting, allowing couples to celebrate their big day again, when planned. For those that had to postpone to later this year, or to 2021, fear not – your wedding is going to be even bigger and better, and more time to plan is never a bad thing! This issue we have loads of beautiful real weddings to get you excited about your upcoming day (from page 50). We have some great planning features including top tips for trimming down the dreaded guest list (page 72) and we highlight 15 of the best wedding venues around the UK (page 74). My pick of the bunch this issue has to be 10-page dress feature (page 13), full of stunning designs for brides. Personally I love the high necks – so sophisticated! Personal Wedding Songs from The Song Cabin

If you’re looking for a unique way to commemorate your wedding, what could be more romantic than your very own personal wedding song? Commission a song to celebrate your marriage. A song that is personal to you. A song that is one of a kind and exclusive to you. A song that you can listen to on your own, or broadcast to the world. Who is this for? You could work together as a couple to create your song. You could work on it alone and gift it to your partner. You could be a friend or family member gifting it to the betrothed couple. Writing the lyric. You can write the lyric yourself (if you need some tips on this we can help). Or, we could work together to create it. The Music. We can create songs in most genres. Think of a few tracks that describe the style – pop, rock, ballad, etc. to be used as references to help us compose your song.

What will you get? A professionally recorded original song, using instrumentation of your choice. You will also receive the instrumental and a version with backing vocals just in case you feel like performing it karaoke style! Your song will feature a professional male vocal and for a little more, a female vocal or duet version can Paul Baggott, producer/songwriter. be created. £600 with a male vocal or £750 for a female vocal or duet. Rupi & Luke A G O R G E O U S C E L E B R AT I O N IN PE AK SUMMER

A beautiful wedding with plenty of personalised details. Real bride Rupi tells us her story... How did Luke propose? “Luke proposed on 1st July 2018 whilst we took a walk along the River Severn from Bewdley to Arley. We took a picnic and had

champagne and it was beautifully sunny. I was pouring a drink for our dog, and when I turned around Luke was down on one knee. He barely had

My shoes were from Debenhams.” What did Luke wear? “Luke’s suit was from Moss Bros. It was a woollen sage green two piece and was paired with a cream waistcoat. He wore tan brogues from

Next with a pocket watch to finish off the look. His best man wore the same colour suit with a sage waistcoat, while the two ushers also wore woollen three-piece suits from Next. Luke, his groomsmen, our dads and brothers and dog all wore forest green bow ties from King and Priory.” How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle? “I actually managed to sneak a glimpse of Luke

before he noticed me as my bridesmaids and flowergirl entered the orangery from the ground floor and I entered from the first floor. He looked quite calm. We did both have a split second where our eyes met and it felt amazing. Us girls had had quite a calm morning in our cottage as we got ready and it hadn’t felt real that I was the one getting married but when our eyes met it suddenly

became very real and very exciting.” Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from? “I had two bridesmaids, Suzannah and Lucy, a flowergirl and a page boy. The bridesmaids’ dresses were by Jenny Packham and they were beaded to follow the 1920s vibe. Suzannah and I have been friends since we trained as teachers together at

golden snitch and a bottle of potion to take away with them.” What was the highlight of your day? “For me the highlight was being pronounced husband and wife for the first

time! For our first dance we choreographed it ourselves and drafted our wedding party into it too, which was a lot of fun. Although my ultimate goal for the day was getting to the end of the night and drinking tea and eating cake in the

else would ever have a dress exactly the same as mine.” And the accessories? “My tiara was borrowed from my older sister. My bridal shoes were from Monsoon, and my earrings and bracelet were from Debenhams.”

How did you feel when you saw Joe up the aisle? “In the build up to the wedding I was so nervous. I’m usually a really emotional person so I thought I would blubber all the way down the aisle and during our vows, but as soon as the music started all

that fear went. As soon as I saw Joe at the end of the aisle I couldn’t stop smiling – this was the moment I had always been waiting for.” Who were your bridesmaids and where were their dresses from? “With a massive bridal party

of 13 containing close friends and family, it was difficult to find a dress to suit all. I then came across multiway dresses from La Closet De Chanel – they were perfect! I wanted my maid of honour in a different dress, and her gown was purchased from Goddiva.”

What was the highlight of your day? “We hired singing waiters from Silver Service Singers. It was by far the highlight of my day. They are what my guests still talk about now! They got everyone together and kick-started the party. A moment to remember.”

This superelegant wedding with an incredible floral theme is full of inspiration. Claire tells all... What dress did you wear? “My dress was by Sottero & Midgley and I had the best experience when searching over at TDR Bridal in Halesowen. Up to this point nothing had really wowed me or got me very excited, but this shop had everything a bride could ask for as far as range and style! I love glitz and detail but also the beauty of lace – they 64 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ J U L Y / A U G U S T 2 0 2 0

pointed me in exactly the right direction. The dress they said was out of their Downton range. The only thing it didn’t have, which I wanted, was a sleeve however a little extra fabric and lace ordered and their seamstress created me some beautiful sleeves to complete the dream dress.”

And the accessories? “I wore a wrap from Sasso Bridal, Jimmy Choo shoes, hair accessories from Ivory & Co and a belt from Lily Bella.“ What did George wear? “We opted for a morning suit with a grey/ivory tweed waistcoat and the matching

ties to complement the bridesmaids. It needed to be elegant but modern and they all looked amazing.“ How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle? “A mixture of excitement and nerves. After all the planning it was finally real. Emotional!”

What dresses did the bridesmaids wear? “The only thing I knew was I had fallen in love with a shimmery fabric from the Dessy collection, called Lavender Silver. We went over to my bridal shop’s sister shop, Pandora’s, and they had a great selection of

the Dessy range. The girls tried on various styles and I was extremely lucky that they all loved the same style and the colour suited all of their skin tones. As the day got closer, it dawned how chilly it had become so I also got them all beautiful feather boleros to take the

huge floral theme mixed in.“ What was the highlight of your day? “A few deep breaths as I got out of the car, and the short walk towards the church. I was very excited and my dad and girls were all there for support.”

Guest who? Can’t decide who to invite? Tackle the trickiest part of wedding planning with these top tips...

T

here’s always one element of wedding planning that causes more headaches than anything else – the guest list. Not only is it the one area that may cause rifts between you and family members, it will also take a huge bite out of your budget. So how are you meant to decide

who makes the final cut? Are you inviting children? What about plus-ones? Or your auntie and uncle you haven’t seen since childhood? The potential pitfalls are everywhere, and you can bet your bottom dollar everyone in your family will give you their opinion. Before you even cross that bridge, you

72 ♥ L OV E O U R W E D D I N G ♥ J U L Y / A U G U S T 2 0 2 0

must choose the venue of your dreams and see how many people they can cater for. This will then give you guidelines to work with. Do a rough guest list before you book to see if the numbers can add up. Next you need to discuss costs per head and find out exactly how many people you can afford. Now comes the tricky bit; choosing who will fill those precious spaces. It’s very easy to say it’s your day so it must be your decision, but in reality that can’t always be the

case. Whether your close family has invested in your wedding or not, you should consider their feelings about other family members. Sit down with your nearest and dearest before you decide and explain to them about the financial implications of inviting everyone to your big day. It won’t be the easiest conversation you’ll have, but at least there won’t be any nasty surprises when the invitations come out. To give you a helping hand, we’ve created some top tips to help you decide who

LOVE THE PLANNING

should and shouldn’t make the final cut... WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE THEM? As a general rule, if you haven’t seen or heard from someone in more than a few years, they probably shouldn’t be invited. And consider this: would they invite you to their wedding? CONSIDER A SMALL CEREMONY The latest guest cutting trend is to have a small ceremony with only your closest family, then an

earlier ‘evening’ party with everyone else. With a lower cost per head, it’s the perfect way to not offend anyone and ensure that all family members are with you for the majority of the day. DON’T INVITE CHILDREN This one can ruffle a few feathers, but cutting out the cuties will save you lots of money and any distractions during the ceremony. You might be pleasantly surprised – the opportunity for parents to have a ‘night off’ may go down well!

GET MARRIED ABROAD It may seem a bit extreme, but getting married abroad will definitely mean that only the people who you really want there will make the effort to come, and those who don’t can’t be upset that they weren’t invited. You could always have an evening-style reception back home on your return to invite everyone who couldn’t make it. IMAGINE YOURSELF A YEAR FROM NOW One of the best ways to decide who makes the final

cut is to picture yourself a year after the wedding. When you look back at your photos, are they going to be filled with people you still see, speak to and love? Or if certain guests are there will you be annoyed at yourself for feeling pressured to invite them, having most likely not spoken to them since the big day? This is a surefire way to help you make up your mind. The last thing that anyone wants is to look back at their wedding photos with any regrets. Don’t make that mistake!
