te sa te 3rd product design studio assignment collaboration with : Kandura Studio Zuchex Indonesia Award 2014 Most Unique Tableware Product Brief: to help small local industry develop either their market or product. by analyzing the strength and threat of the current company business condition
11
objective to help small local industry develop either their market or product. by analyzing the strength and threat of the current company business condition
insight
as the ceramic making studio, Kandura distinct itself by emphasizing on the manual process of ceramic making. resulting in the less effective production process, and the high price for its final product. while resembling their studio design philosophy, which is to explore the unpredictability of ceramic. as a material.
the rich Indonesian cuisine, in fact wasn’t really supported by the development of the tableware product to ease the way of its serving. this does give the opportunity to develop one. especially if we look at the young Indonesian ceramic users aspiration, as the targeted market of Kandura, which is to have a ceramic product that could be used for another type of food serving.
12
design concept sate serving problem x picuk form =
sate serving problem a sliced meat that is put on a bamboo stick that is roasted with charcoal, sate is primarily served with a peanut sauce. but the fact that its bamboo stick is often covered with its sauced, even on the end part for the users to hold it, can cause some inconvenience when eating it.
X
new ceramic product that could serve another type of food serving
pincuk form pincuk is traditional food container which is traditionally made from banana leaf. a simple yet effective structure of pincuk enables it to serve both wet and dry food at the same time. such as pecel, with its sauce at picture above.
13
prototype based on the intention to prevent the bamboo sticks of sate from getting covered in sate sauce, i then developed a new form of tableware ceramic product, inspired from the shape of pincuk.

18
objective to design a new package design that could serve as a “pioneer” to initiate the social change in society.
inspiration
defining what pioneer means
the case of tea production process
i began by exploring the problem in the field of packaging design. and i realize about how packaging is sometimes too much about the presentation of the product. that we sometimes forget about other aspect and process in the making of the product itself. in which not happen in the “present”, but surely happened in the “past”, that isn’t presented in the packaging itself.
the tea product had to go throuch a long process. but tea packaging in general doesn’t really try to communicate about this aspect. and with growing consumer concerns about the health and safety of food product, i think it is important to try to make the packaging design, more about communicating the product creation process. instead of just presenting its final product.
19
design prototype from the case of a tea, i decided to try to make a tea packaging that communicate the process of tea production. from the image board, i realize that tea leaf picking was one of the most recognized tea production process. so i tried to mimick this gesture in design of tea packaging.
