With clearance rates edging upwards and more and more SOLD stickers appearing on properties, increasing numbers of buyers are being spurred into action. After the double interest rate cut it seems people are paying closer attention to activity in the property market with many buyers now making their move. Of the seven inner-Melbourne properties I personally auctioned on the weekend, six achieved a strong sales result. These results ranged from half million dollar apartments right through to multi-million dollar homes, which is an encouraging sign for the market. One of the highlights for the weekend was our sale of a stately Edwardian 3 bedroom home at 359 Danks Street, Middle Park. The auction saw good competition from multiple bidders who pushed the price well beyond the reserve of $1.98 million to achieve a terrific sale price of $2.090 million.

Looking further afield, interstate clearance rates also seem to be moving upwards with Sydney recording a 61 per cent clearance rate for the weekend – just two percentage points behind Melbourne.
