It’s autumn time in Victoria and the prevailing market conditions are steady. We are pleasantly surprised by the number of people seeking to secure a property in the inner west and anticipate a busy season ahead.
2012 has started off well as the market is looking in a better condition than it did a year ago. Last year we experienced a slowing economy, turbulence in interest rates and sensationalism from the media of a “property bubble.� This year it is a different story as signs of a stronger economy signals positive news for buyers and we are enthused for a healthy autumn selling period with solid buyer demand. Housing is more affordable than it was a year ago as prices are below their peak in nine out of ten suburbs and following two interest rate cuts the cost of borrowing is also lower. The REIV reported house prices in Melbourne dropped 6.1 per cent in the year to December, behind only Brisbane, down by 6.7 per cent and Adelaide, down 6.4 per cent. With these interest rate cuts we are
seeing more people selling their properties, interest is at an all-time high and the market is looking stable. Compton Green is proud to be servicing the western suburbs.
