James Ready Brewing Co. James Ready Brewing Co is a Canadian beer that over the years has become very popular with college students for its low costs and high alcohol content. It’s brewed by Moosehead at Canada’s oldest brewery, so it’s purely Canadian and that’s something to be proud of. James Ready is one of my favourite beers. Its price alongside its 5.5 percent alcohol content just cannot be beat. This beer should be a staple in any college student’s diet. Although those are James Ready’s key selling points, it is not all that I admire them for. Being the proud Canadian I am, I want to drink a Canadian beer. James Ready is one of a handful of companies I actually follow on Twitter and have liked on Facebook. Their interaction and appreciation for their customers is refreshing to see from a company. They are consistently replying to customers on their social media and always post content from them as well. Their interaction with their customers even goes as far as to include them in their advertising. James Ready had an advertising campaign where they purchased billboards and then let customers by a portion of it and fill it with a picture, and at the bottom wrote, “thank you for keeping James Ready a buck.” “When James Ready Beer was re-launched in 2004, James’ “Man of the people” attitude was kept at the forefront of everything we did.”
Paul Newman Paul Newman accomplished a lot in his life. He won an academy award, six golden globe awards and has won many national championships as a racecar driver. However, above all he was also a very charitable man. In 1982, Paul Newman created “Newman’s Own”, a company where all profits went to charity. Newman summarized his intention by saying, “My profits will be divided between a number of tax-deductible charities and causes, some church-related, others for conservation and ecology and things like that.” In addition, since 1982 Newman’s Own has donated over 370 million to charities. The reason Paul Newman is such an inspiration to me is because he was able to make the ethical and moral decision that he should profit from his company just because it includes his “When I realized I was going to have to be a whore, to put my face on the label, I decided that the only way I could do it was to give away all the money we make.”
