LANA Imperial’s 'Made-inItaly' masterpiece BY CHARL VAN ROOY
H
aving raised the bar in 2019 with the addition of the 136-metre Flying Fox to its charter fleet, this year Imperial delivered the 107-metre charter yacht Lana to her owner. In doing so, the company added yet another 100-metreplus option to its portfolio for clients looking to experience what the finest life at sea has to offer. One of the largest Benetti yachts ever built, Lana is in a class of her own and, following a highly successful summer in the Mediterranean, has now set course for her first winter season in the Indian Ocean. Designed in-house by the Italian yacht builder, Lana’s unusual profile is deceptively reminiscent of a smaller, sportier vessel, but at 3,900 GT she holds plenty of space for all the latest amenities that charter guests demand. Guest spaces are spread across five decks stretching from the top deck to the lower deck where Lana’s beach club is located. It is also here where guests board the vessel by tender upon arrival. Where smaller-sized charter options might offer a two-person-per-cabin ratio, Lana’s sheer size allows her 12 guests to choose from a total of eight suites. The spacious interior is defined by impressive deckhead heights of 2.7 metres across all of the key guest areas, including the main saloon. Hosting up to 18 guests, the main saloon is centred around a lavish formal dining table located beneath a striking light installation that can be described as nothing else but a work of art. The full-beam, 100-square-metre master suite on the bridge deck features its own two sea-view balconies, a large ensuite bathroom and his and hers walk-in closets. An adjacent study is fitted with custom-made furniture that includes an executive desk with Bentley sofa and armchairs. Custom lamps
made from Tiger Eye gemstone round off the space with a business touch. Stretching the length of the forward main deck below are the seven spacious VIP suites, each covering an average of 35 square metres, and that’s not even counting the bathroom and dressing area. These generous suites have been kitted out, like just about every guest area on board, with an advanced entertainment system that includes a 65’’ 4K QLED TV and a 5.1 Sonance Audio System. For Hollywood-quality entertainment, guests have access to an onboard cinema with an 88” 4K TV and a carefully calibrated sound-system by James Loudspeaker Engineers. A second formal dining room is found on the bridge deck, where large groups of guests can be entertained with direct access to the spacious aft decks, each with an outdoor lounge and bio-ethanol fireplace for those cosy nights under the stars. Available exclusively for charter though Imperial, Lana can be enjoyed for €1,700,000 per week (ex. VAT and APA) and will be cruising through the Red Sea and Indian Ocean this winter

BEACH STYLE GUESTS ARE WELCOMED into the full-beam beach club area when boarding the yacht by tender. Here, 120 square metres is tastefully outfitted with all the comforts of a seaside resort, with the design utilising the full 12-metre beam in this part of the ship. A large fold-down sea terrace on each side of the beach club further extends the usable space and creates a relaxing open-plan flow. “Using this lower deck area to build such an unrivaled beach club makes Lana outstanding in her range,” explains Imperial Director Julia Stewart. “In this complex period, guests’ relaxation and wellness are at the centre of our priorities and Lana delivers to a high level with this well-built, dedicated area.” Amongst the hand-picked crew of professionals is a team of beauty therapists, masseuses and wellness instructors that call this part of the vessel home. On this level, guests will also find the onboard gym, a waterside lounge with views through the fold-down balconies on either side and the spa that comes with a Hammam, dry massage room and Gharieni massage bed.

RELYING SOLELY ON diesel-electric power for her propulsion, eight IMO Tier III Caterpillar generators power Lana’s two Rolls Royce electric engines, each of which has an output of 2,800 kW. A sophisticated power-management system ensures that this energy is efficiently distributed around the yacht and uses the minimum number of generators at any given time. Furthermore, HUG Nauticlean soot filters filter exhaust gases before being sent up and out through the mast structure. Energy-saving solutions can be found all around the yacht and the interior is no exception. An extensive LED lighting system not only consumes a fraction of the power compared to halogen options, but also produces significantly less heat, easing the load on Lana’s air-conditioning system which ultimately results in an even greater reduction in power and fuel usage. In terms of cruising performance, Lana delivers the unrestricted exploring options which you would expect of a yacht of this size. With an autonomous range of over 5,500 nm, she cruises comfortably at 12 knots and can reach speeds of up to 18.5 knots with all generators working at full steam.
VIEW FROM THE TOP
WHILE SOME LARGE yachts ditch the conventional open-plan sundeck layout in favour of extended internal space, Lana’s sleek design includes a single-level al fresco deck that can be configured for a number of uses. As the outdoor entertainment hub on board, the 100-square-metre sundeck features a neat layout that includes an 8-metre-long swimming pool forward and a 16-seater dining area aft. “The simplicity of this enhances her beauty,” comments Stewart. The heated pool can be filled within 45 minutes and is surrounded by wrap-around sun pads for relaxing poolside afternoons. Designed to rival the best beach clubs on the Riviera, the entire deck becomes party central thanks to a custom CAT Audio System that combines eight speakers, two subwoofers and professional-grade amplifiers along with DJ decks and two deck-mounted venue speakers. However, the clever design means that even when the party has started, there are areas where guests desiring a more relaxing atmosphere can find places to unwind. A central sliding door separates the forward and aft parts of the deck to create a quiet zone, while upstairs an intimate seating area on the top deck is almost totally insulated from the directional speakers.
TREASURE CHEST LANA COMES FULLY-LOADED with a serious fleet of tenders and toys for her guests’ enjoyment. A 14-metre covered limo tender designed by Giorgio Cassetta takes the flagship position of the fleet and continues the same interior theme as found on the mothership, while the custom 9-metre open tender adds a touch of luxury to relaxed watersport and diving excursions: “The dive master on board knows all of the hidden spots for exceptional diving,” Stewart adds. The fun doesn’t end there though, as two 7-metre rescue tenders, stored below Lana’s flush foredeck, can be deployed to support all water activities and are great for towing a number of inflatable toys. In addition, four Jet Skis are on standby for a thrilling experience as you fly across the sea on either the limited-edition Seadoo GTX300, one of two Seadoo RTX-X RS 300s or the Yamaha SuperJet Stand Up for the more experienced riders. The highly-trained watersports team features a diverse range of skill sets and is ready to cater to guests of all ages. As Lana heads to the Indian Ocean, this team will no doubt have their hands full in the crystal clear tropical waters that make this region so popular for sports enthusiasts. ©IMPERIAL YACHTS / IMAGES: JEFF BROWN - BREED MEDIA
