During the Summer, Belfast’s Irish language community suffered a body blow when we lost after a short illness our friend, Éamon Ó Faogáin. An accomplished musician, an inspirational teacher, a lover of all things Gaelach, Éamon will be missed especially at the seasonal “Oíche Síol”, a night when Irish speakers get together to chat, to sing a few songs and swap a few stories and to take part in the ‘Síol’ ballot. At the next Oíche Síol, on 8 October, we will gather again to celebrate the life and contribution of Éamon. Friends and fellow musicians will gather to sing a few songs and play a few tunes to help us call to mind Éamon’s ready smile and we will do this in a way befitting his memory. Join us for this very special night.

Fómhair - 25 Samhain 14 October - 25 November 7in: Ba í Susannah Wilson, céimí de chuid Coláiste Ealaíona Ollscoil Uladh, a bhuaigh Gradam Gerard Dillon i 2015 agus is é a duais ná taispeántas i nDánlann Gerard Dillon. Is saothar idirghníomhach — ach neamhleictreonach — a ghnóthaigh an duais do Susannah anuraidh, saothar a bhain stangadh as na moltóirí as a úire agus a shamlaíocht. Níl a fhios againn céard atá beartaithe aici don taispeántas seo ach táimid cinnte go mbeidh sé dúshlánach agus taithneamhach! 7pm: Susannah Wilson is the 2015 winner of the Gerard Dillon Prize, an award sponsored by the Cultúrlann to encourage the next generation of artists to follow in the footsteps of the artist for whom our main gallery is named.

Susannah surprised and amused our judges with the freshness and imagination of her interactive exhibition - though there wasn’t a computer in sight! We’re not sure what she’s planning for her prize, the exhibition which opens on 14 October, but we’re sure it will be challenging and entertaining.
