Stormtech Leads the Way in Architectural Linear Drainage Solutions STORMTECH introduced Australia to lineal drainage for bathrooms in the early 1990s and has since then provided efficient architectural drainage solutions. The Slim Line range is a patented Australian designed and made lineal grated drain system which can be used in showers, bathrooms, thresholds, balconies, paved areas, driveways and pools - virtually anywhere a high performance, high quality contemporary looking drainage solution is needed. In interior applications, the Stormtech system forms a sleek partition between the “dry” area of the bathroom, housing the sink and toilet and the “wet” bath and shower area. Sealeck Bio-Containment Doors, Windows and Fumigation Chambers THE recently completed Ecosciences precinct located on Brisbane’s old Boggo Rd gaol site is a dedicated science facility focussing on climate change, protecting our natural resources and environment, whilst developing more competitive and sustainable ways to grow farming, mineral, forestry, and marine industries. Sealeck’s Bio-Containment group provided leading edge Bio-Containment Doors, Windows and a complete operational Fumigation Chamber. The requirement to meet PC3 certification standards meant that doors and windows were installed into rooms to form pressure tight barriers as a means to prevent the escape or ingress of harmful bacteria. The Fumigation chamber was supplied as a complete stainless steel fully seamless room using three inflatable seal
high containment access doors with electronic access controls that permit only one door to be opened at any time. Doors and door frames are fitted seamlessly into the walling structure with recessed flush controls and electronics for seal inflation/deflation and door locking/unlocking functions. The completed stainless steel chamber including doors was pressure tested at the Sealeck plant prior to being transported to Brisbane and met particularly high pressure tight conditions with only extremely low leakage rates. On site, the chamber was lowered into the building and connected to adjacent walls and services.

Shadowclad – the Architect, Builder’s and Banker’s Choice CARTERWILLIAMSON was presented with a common challenge with this Rozelle (NSW) renovation – create a fabulous, open plan, light, modern space at the rear of an existing home – within a limited budget. Architect Shaun Carter was looking for an inexpensive but attractive cladding material without compromising on durability and longevity. SIX STAR Insulation Solutions
ThermaStarTM A healthy solution for a Hawthorn hospital. The Challenge or this retro fit project, the architects needed a cost effective, but efficient solution to insulate the hospital patient areas from the undercover carpark and flat roof. The site was required to meet BCA Section J energy rating and was subject to the cold blasts of winter and the heat of the Melbourne summer. With a short timeframe for construction material needed to be immediately available and be able to be erected quickly around existing services mounted in roof areas. The solution needed to be aesthetically appealing.

The Solution RMAX worked with the builders to develop the right specification of ThermaStarTM double foil sided expanded polystyrene insulation panel that met both insulation and aesthetic needs, which was installed by Star Ceilings and Partitions. Although RMAX ThermaStarTM is manufactured in 24 and 28 grams/litre, density can be customized to deliver a specified R-value. It meets AS4859, AS3937 – BCA Group 1 – flame spread characteristics and meets the BCA 2010 section J energy ratings. RMAX ThermaStarTM is made without CFC’s, HCFC’s of HFC’s and has zero ozone depleting potential (ODP).
The Result The combination of the superior insulation qualities of RMAX Environmental Expanded Polystyrene together with the exceptional reflective qualities of aluminum foil produced an outstanding insulation medium together with a pleasant aesthetic. This development is another demonstration of RMAX Innovation in environmental expanded polystyrene building products working to produce six star environmental Insulation solutions.

ThermaWallPlus® An environmental solution for a six star development. The Challenge he developers, Frasers Property, specified a six star rating for this unique development at Frasers Landing, Mandurah, south of Perth. Every product used in the development had to make its contribution in order to achieve the rating. They stipulated materials that supported the sustainable approach for the estate be used, believing that sustainable building practices would appeal to the target market.

The estate would eventually carry 1250 houses so continuity of supply was critical. As it was an estate built for families, product durability was crucial.
The Solution Frasers Property design team with builder Frasers Homes and collaborating architect Bravura Design nominated RMAX ThermaWallPlus® as the preferred cladding system not only for its excellent insulative qualities but because of its ease and speed of construction and its resistance to backyard knocks. RMAX and their distributor in Perth, Build Technologies worked with the developers to ensure the challenge was met on time and within cost parameters.
The Result This community of architecturally distinctive homes have been sensitively designed and planned to connect with the unique natural environment while meeting the desired six star energy rating, saving on heating and cooling costs for residents. ThermaWallPlus® is a good example of RMAX Innovation at work in the development of expanded polystyrene building products for the building and construction industry.
