INDUSTRY 4.0 Introducing Machine Learning By Mor Nguirane, Dott. Chemical Engineering Machine learning teaches computers to do what comes naturally to humans and animals: learn from experience. Machine learning algorithms use computational methods to “learn” information directly from data without relying on a predetermined equation as a model. The algorithms adaptively improve their performance as the number of samples available for learning increases. Machine learning algorithms find natural patterns in data that generate insight and help to make better decisions and predictions. They are used every day to make critical decisions in medical diagnosis, stock trading, energy load forecasting, and more. Media sites rely on machine learning to sift through millions of options to give you song or movie recommendations. Retailers use it to gain insight into their customers’ purchasing behaviour. With the rise in big data, machine learning has become particularly important for solving problems in areas like these: • Computational finance, for credit scoring and algorithmic trading • Image processing and computer vision, for face recognition, motion detection, and object detection • Computational biology, for cancer detection, drug discovery, and DNA sequencing • Energy production, for price and load forecasting • Automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, for predictive maintenance • Natural language processing How Machine Learning Works Machine learning uses two types of techniques: supervised learning, which trains a model on known input and output data so that it can predict future outputs, and unsupervised learning, which finds hidden patterns or intrinsic structures in input data. Supervised Learning: The aim of supervised machine learning is to build a model that makes predictions based on evidence in the presence of uncertainty. A supervised learning algorithm takes a known set of input data and known responses to the data (output) and trains a model to generate reasonable predictions for the response to new data.

8 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

Supervised learning uses classification and regression techniques to develop predictive models. •Classification techniques predict discrete responses for example, whether an email is genuine or spam, or whether a cancer is cancerous or benign. Classification models classify input data into categories. Typical applications include medical imaging, speech recognition, and credit scoring. •Regression techniques predict continuous responses for example, changes in temperature or fluctuations in power demand. Typical applications include electricity load forecasting and algorithmic trading.

Unsupervised Learning Unsupervised learning finds hidden patterns or intrinsic structures in data. It is used to draw inferences from datasets consisting of input data without labelled responses. Clustering is the most common unsupervised learning technique. It is used for exploratory data analysis to find hidden patterns or groupings in data. Applications for clustering include gene sequence analysis, market research, and object recognition. Selecting an Algorithm Choosing the right algorithm can seem overwhelming, there are dozens of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, and each takes a different approach to learning. There is no best method or one size fits all. Finding the right algorithm is partly just trial and error, even highly experienced data scientists can’t tell whether an algorithm will work without trying it out. But algorithm selection also depends on the size and type of data you’re working with, the insights you want to get from the data, and how those insights will be used. Machine Learning Application Consider using machine learning when you have a complex task or problem involving a large amount of data and lots of variables, but no existing formula or equation. For example, machine learning is a good option if you need to handle situations like these:

1.Hand-written rules and equations are too complex as in face recognition and speech recognition; 2.The rules of a task are constantly changing as in fraud detection from transaction records; 3.The nature of the data keeps changing, and the program needs to adapt as in automated trading, energy demand forecasting, and predicting shopping trends. Example: Optimizing HVAC Energy Usage in Large Buildings The heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in office buildings, hospitals, and other large-scale commercial buildings are often inefficient because they do not consider changing weather patterns, variable energy costs, or the building’s thermal properties. Building IQ’s cloud-based software platform addresses this problem. The platform uses advanced algorithms and machine learning methods to continuously process gigabytes of information from power meters, thermometers, and HVAC pressure sensors, as well as weather and energy cost. Machine learning is used to segment data and determine the relative contributions of gas, electric, steam, and solar power to heating and cooling processes. The building IQ platform reduces HVAC energy consumption in large-scale commercial buildings by 10% - 25% during normal operation. Reference Mathworks® ebook, Inc. Matlab

LATIN AMERICA Developing a Local Content Strategy By Mor Nguirane, Dott. Chemical Engineering Based on a study by Baker III institute (1) about 90% of new hydrocarbon production in the next 20 years will come from developing countries. Many of these nations have understandably introduced ‘local content’ requirements into the regulatory frameworks governing natural resource developments. For instance, the Mexican government has introduced the first regulation on local content on 2008. Local content is the added value brought to a host nation through the activities of the oil and gas industry. This may be measured and undertaken through: •Workforce development: employment and training of local workforce; •Investments in supplier development: developing and procuring supplies and services locally; The aim of local content regulation is to create jobs, promote enterprise development and acquire new skills, know-how and technologies. Considering the growing importance of local content, many oil and gas companies approach the concept as a strategic issue that can have a direct impact on a range of core business functions, such as business development, procurement and operations. In response, companies have begun to develop innovative tools and approaches aimed at meeting local content requirements and contributing to sustainable economic growth. At the same time, these efforts can protect and enhance companies’ own commercial interests and expand company level of cooperation with the local industry.

The advantages of having a local content strategic plan include: •reductions in operational costs by keeping expatriate staff to a minimum; •smoother flowing supplies of goods and services; •a consistently renewed licence to operate; •enhanced engagement with stakeholders.

Successful local content programmes are shaped by a clear understanding of the business benefits and a well-defined strategic plan. Detailed understanding of the local context is imperative. That means avoiding prescriptive solutions.

Considering above mentioned advantages, the strategic plan should focus on improving the capabilities of the local workforce. This can be done through employment, training and investment in the local supply base by means of procurement and development.

Practitioners should concentrate on the key drivers in achieving local content: regulatory requirements, business and stakeholder expectations including those internal to the company.

10 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

Drivers of a successful local content strategy Local context: the knowledge of local context enables companies to understand its importance in terms of demand-side requirements, supply-side capabilities, and the barriers that limit local worker

and local company participation. These factors vary by location, the nature of the project and the stage of the project life cycle. Experience demonstrates that targets beyond the existing capacity of local industry or the absorptive capacity of assets can result in greater costs, lower government revenues and less competition (2). Thorough analysis of the local context can yield a realistic baseline for a local content strategy plan. Regulatory requirements: oil and gas companies operate in several localities worldwide and thus facing different regulatory environments. Depending on how regulations are structured, they may impose limits on the initiation, growth and development of new enterprises. The regulations may also define explicit targets or objectives for local content development. All of this can add significantly to the costs of doing business. The regulatory environment will influence the feasibility of implementing a local content strategy. Hence, an understanding of the context is crucial to the strategic plan’s development. Business expectations: there are an increasing number of strategic and commercial reasons behind the move for local content. By identifying them in each case, companies can justify applying the necessary resources and management effort and simultaneously identify the functions and areas of the business that should be involved. The advantages of having a local content strategy may include the following: •contributing to the stability of the business environment; •meeting legislative requirements; •meeting expectations of host governments for local economic and social benefits of oil and gas developments; •increasing the likelihood of ‘competitive

differentiation’ in bidding rounds/negotiations with host governments and government authorities; •maximizing opportunities for achieving higher levels of reliability and quality through local supplier proximity; •maximizing opportunities for lower costs on some locally procured goods and services; •increasing access to new staff resources, ameliorating the growing global issues of the aging workforce within the oil and gas industry and a gradual shrinking of the pool of technically capable, skilled resources; •delivering sustainability and corporate responsibility objectives and maximizing the impact of community investment resources. Stakeholder expectations: These should help define objectives, particularly when key stakeholder expectations are not explicitly part of regulatory requirements or the defined business case. AMERICA Intellectual Property and Innovation in Biofuel Sector By Leonello Trivelli | Researcher at UniversitĂ di Pisa (UNIPI) Sustainability is a key theme in current discussions between policy makers, entrepreneurs, researchers, NGOs and the society. Indeed, CO2 emission reduction, the development of renewable energy sources, and natural resources consumption are some of the aspects which gathered more interest in such context. The effort to identify alternative energy sources for the transportation sector is constantly growing and encompasses both liquid fuels, gasses and electricity trying to replace the dependence on fossil energy. Within this context, liquid biofuels that are extracted from vegetables such as sugar cane, corn, jatropha, and algae constitute one of the main alternatives that are available on the market today. Despite the importance biofuels can have in terms of sustainable development for what concerns their reduced environmental impact related to extraction and consumption, discussions are still in place for what concerns the impact generated by their production process. These aspects made the biofuel sector as a key field for policy makers wanting to address the growing sociopolitical pressure on the themes related to sustainable development. Indeed, countries all over the World are investing on biofuels starting from seventies with the goal of encouraging biofuel production and consumption and supporting research in biofuel technologies. However, as far as the nations producing biofuels are concerned, only Brazil is able to maintain a biofuel marketplace without public support. Conversely, all other countries require policy intervention to make biofuels economically competitive through tax reduction as well as mandatory rules for fuel blending. These investments were conceived to support two main policies: demand-pull and technology push. The first refers to actions aiming to sustain the consumption of biofuels through mandatory fuel mixes. The second, instead, has the goal to support the development and adoption of biofuel technologies thanks to research and development funding. Despite the great effort put by Countries on supporting the development and dissemination of biofuels, it is still difficult to understand the economic productivity of such research inputs.

12 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

In order to investigate such aspect, several research teams have used patent data to analyse the economics of innovation in biofuel technologies and the effects generated by policies over time. One of the most recent works on such topic is the one published on Energy Policy and conducted by Michelle Arnold, Joseph A. Tainter and Deborah Strumsky from the Department of Environment and Society of Utah State University. Calculating the innovation productivity of a sector or a company is a very hard task since organizations do not disclose such kind of strategically relevant information. For this reason, the approach adopted by the research team was based on the analysis of data that are publicly available because of their legal relevance: patents. Indeed, the analysis we are going to describe grounds on the assumption that an innovation is taken into consideration only if it has all the features needed to earn a patent.

Accordingly, the main source of data was the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the researchers focused on the liquid biofuel technologies patented since 1976. The information provided by USPTO included title, authorship, patent number, technology codes, date patent was requested, and date patent was granted. Overall, the search gave back more than 11,000 patents from 1901 to 2016. The patents awarded from 1976 to 2012 were 2587. The biggest part of them refers to the last years and the number of patents on liquid biofuels grew significantly after 2005. In particular, it passed from a few dozens in 2005 to about 700 patens in 2012. Another interesting information is the one concerning the authors who contributed to achieve a patent. Indeed, the average number of people involved in a patent increased from 1,5 (1976) to 3 (2012) authors per patent. This information is significant for describing the patenting process and the innovation productivity in such domain. In fact, the need to involve more people in the patenting process reflect higher costs to be afforded to get a patent awarded. Conversely, such data shows a lower innovation productivity in the liquid biofuel domain. Such declining pattern in innovation productivity is evident in both newer technological areas (such as information technology, biotechnology, and nanotechnology), and in older sectors (Strumsky et al., 2010; Tainter et al., 2018). Thus, the declining productivity of innovation in biofuel technologies is part of the overall pattern in science-based R&D, resulting from increasing complexity and costliness. Moreover, authors analysed the methanol sector separately. Such choice comes from the importance of such chemical in the biofuel domain, but also in other sectors.

Methanol shows a more persistent grow in term of inventive activity than biofuels in general. Indeed, it starts growing in 2001 when the patents awarded were about 10, to the 50 awarded in 2012. However, it presented the same declining pattern of innovation productivity shown for other biofuels. The same happens also for patterns of innovation productivity in first generation (food crop feedstocks), second generation (food crop co-products or waste products, and non-food crops), and third generation (algae) biofuel technologies. These results show that productivity innovation in biofuels domain is experiencing problems which somehow reflects the difficulties of biofuels in penetrating the market all over the world. On one hand, the diminished return of R&D activities may lead companies to curtail research projects. On the other hand, Governmental actions can help companies to address such costs. The last option for company will be to make research activities more efficient and in case reduce the human resources devoted to such actions. In any case, the declining productivity of innovation is a huge problem for a sector which still has big challenges to address in terms of market penetration. Indeed, such criticalities, together with the concerns related to biofuels production represents the main issues for the dissemination of biofuels on a wider scale. Even if policy makers can play a big role in such game, the perception is that growing the market might be the priority for the next future. References Arnold, M., Tainter, J. A., & Strumsky, D. AFRICA Wireless Technology for Process Automation (Hart and ModBUS) By Andrea Fenzi WirelessHART network uses a 2.4 GHz band (license-free and used worldwide). This type of industrial network uses a mesh network where all field devices form a network. Each device operates simultaneously as a signal source and a repeater. The original transmitter sends a message to its closest transmitter, which forwards the message to the base station and the actual receiver. In addition, alternative routes are set up during the initialisation phase. If the message cannot be transmitted on a particular route, due to an obstacle or a defective receiver, the message is automatically redirected to an alternative route. Thus, the wide area network provides redundant communication routes to increase reliability while extending the range of the network. The communication over the wireless network is coordinated with the TDMA system, which synchronizes the network participants in 10 ms timeframes. This allows you to create a highly reliable, collision-free network, and reduces the leads and lags when a station has to remain active. WirelessHART also uses FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology to prevent interference. All 15 channels as specified in IEEE802.15.4 are used in parallel; WirelessHART uses FHSS to hop across these channels. Channels that are already in use are blacked out to avoid collisions with other wireless communication systems. The combination of 10 ms synchronization and 15 channels allows 1,500 communications per second.

Wireless technology in the process automation The technological development of field bus is represented by solutions based on wireless radio technology. Although proprietary solutions have been available for some time, a standard application range has not yet become widespread on the market for a number of reasons. In the transfer of measured values of safety-critical data and of data directly related to process control, the cable represents the best available solution for transferring the signal. A cable-based solution should always be preferred to a radio technology solution for critical control applications, while wireless technology can play an important role for non-critical applications that do not require a cable to be installed. Cable vs wireless dilemma Cable-based solutions are not necessary in smaller plants and in logistics operations involving intermediate material storage since there may be no instrumentation and thus no feedback on storage levels. Cable solutions may also be discounted for

14 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

economic reasons because there are obstacles between the control system and the process itself. Level measurements, which are generally carried out manually, can easily be replaced by a radio control method. Here there is no necessity for real-time transfer, and if a level value cannot be transmitted for a short period, it will not interfere with the operation of the plant. There are also new possibilities in the sphere of environmental monitoring. One example is corrosion measurement using CorrTran MV from Pepperl+Fuchs. Corrosion measurement is applied to critical areas of a vessel or pipeline. These positions are often extremely difficult to access or far away from the control system. The CorrTran MV wireless device can be installed optimizing the use of wiring. In this case, transmission security is not a critical application and, since corrosion is an extremely slow process, it is not time-critical. Nowadays, with a wireless system the status of ball valves is transmitted to the control room and, as a result, the control system monitors the status of the ball valves at all times. The same applies to all the

other manually checked status parameters, such as pressure and temperature. Wireless technology can also be used to ensure quality and to optimize important process parameters. These parameters, which are generally less critical to the process control, are often only temporarily monitored, for example in the event of a fault being detected or in temporary plant installations with low volume requirements and frequent product changeovers. In these applications, wireless technology improves the information on plant status, material flow and process sequence. It provides a basis for sequence and process optimization, asset management and decisions relating to preventive maintenance. Wireless technology improves the economy of process plants. Wireless Hart according to Endress + Hauser The second example of the use of the WirelessHart solution is a series of indications from Endress + Hauser, one of the most important companies in the Process Automation sector. This part of the article refers to the technical presentation made by engineer A. Icardi (Endress + Hauser Italia SPA) during the ANIPLA AIS workshop in Milan. HART 7 has been available for several years: it is a protocol extension that is already available on almost all process devices on the market. Revision 7 is fully compatible with existing HART field devices and all HART compatible host systems. In terms of process automation, it should be noted that the HART protocol is the most popular field protocol with over 30 million devices installed. WirelessHart features fast and flexible installation, and new sensors can easily be added to the network. Applications in the process automation The main areas of application of this wireless solution are the monitoring and maintenance of systems based on wireless sensor networks. Integration is essential for Wireless Fieldgate sensor

networks. WirelessHART Adapter and WirelessHART Mesh Network are available - these devices can integrate any HART field device (4-20 mA, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, HTTP RS485: HART, Modbus RTU) into the network. The safety features of the given reliability, usability coexistence with other radio signals allow using standard technology with costeffectiveness. Retrofit integration with a long-life battery adapter is also possible. The system operates with AES128 & CCM encryption, self-organizing mesh network, TDMA, FHSS, DSSS, CCA, blacklisting FDT, DD, OPC, Modbus, Wireless monitoring. This solution can be used in process automation for pressure and temperature monitoring on wellheads, flow monitoring, process data monitoring on wellheads, process data monitoring along the piping of an extraction plant, inventory data monitoring in oil&gas tanks at refineries and depots, temperature monitoring on rotary kiln Tank Gauging system, pressure measurement at the relevant manifold. The typical installation for each site is composed of 6 pressure meters, 5 temperature meters, 1 flow meter - each instrument with its own SWA70 adapter connects to 1 SWG70 Fieldgate within an area of approx. 100 m². EUROPE Energy Blows from the Sea By Valeria Menecchini | Journalist The global offshore wind energy market is expected to exceed 81,000 MW by 2024. Growth is certainly due to increasing incentives for the entire wind energy market, but held back by high plant costs and energy distribution difficulties. A Market Research Engine report published in December 2018 shows that the main drivers of the market are the large number of wind turbine installation projects; innovation in wind power generation technology and, finally, increased demand for efficient wind power converter systems. Offshore plants, ie wind farms installed offshore, have a higher yield than those on land, not only because the wind speed is higher, but also because it is more constant and does not present turbulence disturbances. Offshore turbines can also be installed in very deep sea locations, exploiting coastal winds, using the same construction technologies as oil platforms. Instead the floating turbines are placed in the open sea and usually the project uses a three-point anchoring system with steel cables anchored to the bottom. It should be borne in mind that although costly works are required for the foundations, that the turbines must be treated to protect them from the corrosive effects of salt and water, that the cost of cables and sea connections may be greater, as well as the costs of installation and maintenance, access roads are not necessary, disputes with local communities must not be resolved, nor naturalistic or reforestation works. The ecological impact of offshore installations, the subject of some recent studies, is minimal. In fact the turbines are located more than 3 km from the coast, so beyond the visible line and some researchers hypothesize that they could favor areas of repopulation and biodiversity on the seabed over time. The most significant negative effects are caused by the rotation of the moving blades and their underwater noise, but the results of current research do not indicate short-term effects in the area between the generators, and the foundations have even caused the allocation of new species and new fauna communities. The first offshore wind plant consisting of 11 wind turbines (for a total of 5 MW) was built in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Vindeby, Denmark, in the early 1990s. The first and largest formation of the new millennium was inaugurated in 2005 off the mouth of the Thames at Kentish Flats and alone generates 90 MW. In 2018 the first Hornsea One turbine was installed, the largest offshore wind farm project in

16 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

the world. Located 120 km from the Yorkshire coast in England, the plant will cover approximately 407 sq km and will consist of 174 wind turbines that, once in operation, will be able to develop a total power of 1.2 GW, on a par with conventional fossil power plants . The electricity generated at sea will pass through one of the three offshore substations, before being transported by three high voltage submarine cables (245 kV), through the reactive compensation station, to the ground. The Hornsea One marine power station is only the first of the four planned in the area, in fact the company has already received the green light and the incentive for a second phase that should be completed in the early 2020s. And for the last two projects - Hornsea 3 and 4 - Ă˜rsted is considering the possibility of installing even more powerful turbines, at least 10MW. The total annual consumption of Great Britain could be satisfied by the offshore wind energy potential even excluding the critical sea areas (within 5 km of coastline; seabed lower than 10 meters and higher

than 50; with intense traffic of ships; the areas military ...) estimated at around 230 TWh per year. Germany started building the wind farm on the island of Borkum in 2008 to achieve 15% off-shore renewable energy within twenty years. In 2018 work began in China for the nation’s largest offshore wind farm off the island of Nanpeng, in the southern province of Guangdon which is expected to come into operation by 2020, generating about 1.46 million MWh a year. But the Nanpeng mega plant is only the first in China, in fact, as early as 2030, as many as 23 offshore wind farms are planned and the nation should reach 31 GW installed in the sector by the end of the next decade. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, the People’s Republic ranks third in terms of total installed capacity of offshore wind turbines, holding 11% of the world total starting from the end of 2016, after Great Britain and Germany.

Taiwan aims to bring the “marine” share over 8 GW by the end of 2027. “Taiwan - explains Wood Mackenzie senior analyst Robert Liew - represents the largest offshore market in the Asian Pacific thanks to a relatively stable regulatory regime, government support and openness to foreign investments “. But not all ambitious projects seem to be destined for success, in fact factors such as technological maturity and a stable supply chain are still far away. “Along with South Korea and Japan, East Asia needs about $ 37 billion in investments to cope with the huge growth of offshore wind capacity over the next five years,” said Liew. “The good news is that prices are going down. Future offshore costs should become competitive with traditional thermoelectric prices by 2025, “he added. “This should attract investment in the sector.”

HANNOVER MESSE 2019 Driver of industrial transformation Make digital transformation tangible – that was what HANNOVER MESSE 2019 promised. After five days, the organizers announced a positive result. Artificial intelligence in industry and robotics, the potential of the new 5G mobile communications standard for industrial applications, lightweight design, and the future of work in a time of increasing digitalization were this year’s most important topics at the world’s leading tradeshow for industrial technology. Hannover, Germany, April 5, 2019. “HANNOVER MESSE 2019 showed that it is the world’s most important platform for all technologies related to industrial transformation,” said Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board at Deutsche Messe. “More than 215,000 visitors used HANNOVER MESSE to invest in new technologies and prepare their businesses for the future. Only Hannover provides the comprehensive look at application scenarios, the potential and the interaction of Industrie 4.0, artificial intelligence, 5G, and energy solutions.” Roughly 6,500 exhibitors from around the world presented solutions for the future of manufacturing and energy supply, including more than 500 examples of the deployment of artificial intelligence in industrial manufacturing, 5G applications, and solutions for the energy and mobility transitions. Robotics was also a major draw for visitors. Leading robot manufacturers and robotics start-ups demonstrated real-world applications for all industry sectors. With 160 exhibiting companies, Partner Country Sweden stood out as a high-tech nation. Nearly 40 percent of the show’s 215,000 attendees came from abroad. “The record-breaking turnout underlines the international significance of HANNOVER MESSE and shows Germany’s strength as an industrial location,” said Köckler. The top visitor countries after Germany were China (7,200), the Netherlands (5,900), Italy (3,400) and the USA (3,400). Partner Country Sweden contributed 2,600 visitors. The show received high marks from participating exhibitors. “There are a few clouds on the horizon for the mechanical engineering industry right now, making the role of HANNOVER MESSE all the more important as a continued beacon for industry and innovation. Mechanical engineers are at the vanguard of connected production environments, and the strong interest shown by visitors in machine-to-machine communication and the ‘global machine language’ OPC UA confirms that our members are at the forefront of developments. Another critical factor for integrated manufacturing is the ultrafast 5G mobile telecommunications standard, and this year’s HANNOVER MESSE generated some real momentum in this area. The Industry 4.0 wave has been rolling for a few years, and this year’s fair revealed how far we have come since it all started,” commented Thilo Brodtmann, Executive Director of the German Engineering Federation.

18 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

“5G and Hannover Messe are a perfect fit,” said Dr. Klaus Mittelbach, CEO of the ZVEI industrial association. “Next year’s fair will feature numerous applications for 5G technology. Companies in the electrical engineering and electronics sector are eager to use this new mobile communications standard. Together with artificial intelligence, it is going to be an important competitive factor,” he concluded. As a major premiere, the show’s technology partners Nokia and Qualcomm treated visitors to the first-ever 5G test environment. This enabled both solution providers and potential users to demonstrate and try out the potential of this new mobile telecommunications standard for industrial applications. The 5G premiere at HANNOVER MESSE also marked the start of Deutsche Messe’s “smart venue” initiative, which over the course of the next several months will turn the Hannover Exhibition Center into the world’s first tradeshow venue with fully operational 5G technology. In a rich array of HANNOVER MESSE forums and conferences, experts from industry, government and the R&D community stimulated fruitful dialogue on topics such as Industry 4.0, AI and the future of work. Among the supporting program’s popular highlights were the Lightweighting Summit organized by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Future of Work in Industry congress and the Industrial Pioneers Summit. Staged under the motto “Sweden Co-Lab”, Sweden’s Partner Country showcase was all about innovation and collaboration. As Köckler put it: “Sweden impressed as a powerhouse of creative ideas for tomorrow’s technological solutions: liberal-minded, agreeable and highly innovative.” HANNOVER MESSE sets course for bright future In an age of digital transformation, HANNOVER MESSE is also evolving. BP Awards Contracts to BHGE & McDermott for Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Natural Gas Project •BP awards BHGE and McDermott SURF and SPS equipment orders for Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) natural gas project •The companies are working together to realize efficiencies, drive project synergies and enhance delivery times HOUSTON, March 11, 2019 - McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE: MDR) and Baker Hughes, a GE company (NYSE: BHGE) have announced today that they have been awarded subsea umbilical’s, risers and flowlines (SURF) and subsea production system (SPS) equipment contracts by BP for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim natural gas project, located offshore Mauritania and Senegal. BP, BHGE and McDermott are working together to realize efficiencies, synergies and enhanced delivery times. BHGE is demonstrating the benefits of early-engagement and collaboration – some of the key components of Subsea Connect – as well as bringing its expertise in deepwater, long-offset gas projects. The company will provide five large-bore deepwater horizonal xmas trees (DHXTs), a 6-slot dual bore manifold, a pipeline end manifold, subsea distribution units (SDUs), three subsea isolation valves (SSIVs), diverless connections and subsea production control systems, specifically designed to enable the future integration of additional wells for the first phase of the development. “Together with McDermott, we will deliver the best-in-class solution to BP with cost-efficiency and industry-leading safety. These awards demonstrate the value of early-engagement, collaborative partnerships and holistic project planning, which are very much central to our new approach to subsea developments, Subsea Connect,” said Graham Gillies, BHGE’s Vice President, Subsea Production Systems & Services. “This major deepwater gas development is strategically important for Mauritania and Senegal’s domestic and global gas supply, and supports the industry’s drive for a more sustainable, lower carbon future.” McDermott was awarded a substantial (1) engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) SURF contract. McDermott plans to use its upgraded Amazon vessel, DLV 2000, North Ocean 102 (NO 102) and third-party vessels to support installation scheduled to begin

20 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

in late 2020. The Amazon modifications are scheduled to be completed before the installation campaign begins and will include a multi-joint (hex) J-Lay system to handle the most challenging ultra-deepwater projects as well as the addition of a multi-joint facility, dual pipe loading cranes and additional power generation. McDermott-designed pipeline and riser structures will be fabricated at its yard in Batam, Indonesia. “This contract marks a number of firsts: our first significant subsea EPCI project in West Africa; the first project using our state of the art pipelay vessel Amazon; and our support of BP’s first entry into Senegal and Mauritania. This project is also of significant importance in support of our aspirations in this region,” said Tareq Kawash, McDermott’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Africa, Russia and Caspian. “Our collaboration with BHGE allows us to offer BP an integrated approach that builds on our proven solutions. We look forward, along with BHGE, to deliver this landmark project to BP with the highest levels of safety and quality.”These latest awards follow an initial front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase, awarded in March 2018, during which BHGE and McDermott worked together to define the technology and equipment scope for a four-well development phase. Project management and engineering teams from BP, BHGE and McDermott will remain co-located at McDermott’s London offices for this next phase. BHGE has also signed an agreement to become a “Country Partner” of Invest in Africa’s (IIA) Senegal chapter, of which BP is a founding member. The IIA helps local suppliers to connect with international oil and gas companies, increasing the opportunities for local businesses to support large-scale projects, and training African suppliers on core business skills and entrepreneurship. Project Details The initial subsea infrastructure connects the first four of 12 wells consolidated through production pipelines leading to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel. From here liquids are removed and the export gas is transported via a pipeline to the floating liquid natural gas (FLNG) hub terminal where the gas is liquefied. (1) McDermott defines a substantial contract as between $500 million to $750 million. The contract award will be reflected in McDermott’s first quarter 2019 backlog.

84 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

Modular System KNF pumps are underpinned by a modular concept. Each pump type consists of three main components: pump head, compressor housing and motor. The materials used in the pump head can be substituted to provide greater chemical resistance. Multiple motor options or inter-head connections are available depending on the customer’s requirements. Starting with a series product, any pump can be modified to provide an individual customized solution, which is then referred to as a project pump. Main markets KNF works in the medical, laboratory, gas analysis and process markets, amongst others. In this latter market KNF provides ATEX certified pumps and compressors for hazardous environments containing aggressive and explosive media; Double diaphragm pumps for the transfer of precious and dangerous gases; High pressure compressors for the transfer and compression of neutral and slightly aggressive gases; PTFE pumps for gas sampling and heat resistant pumps for hot gases up to 240 ° C.

86 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

GEAR PUMPS – EASY VIEW These gear pumps are used from 1 up to viscosity 1’000’000 cSt. In the operating scheme is shown how the rotations of the gears displace the product from the inlet side to the outlet side. The entire operation can be resumed in three main phases: Suction, Delivery and Discharge. Into a gear pumps the two rotors, that are respectively called driving and driven rotor, are seated in a body that round them from all side. On the both sides of the mesh zone of the teeth there is a hole in the body of the pump. These holes are respectively called suction and discharge. Spinning the rotors the fluid is moved, through the chambers between the teeth of the rotors and the body, from the suction side to the discharge side. Fluid does not pass through the meshing zone of the gears due to small tolerances. A back-flow of the fluid is blocked by the contact of the teeth of the two rotors in the meshing zone. ADVANDAGE Gear pumps need a lesser NPSH and have better properties of delivery repeatability. Gear pumps, being rotary volumetric pumps, are the best metering pumps, since their delivery depends directly on the revolutions rate. Also gear pumps will not generate flow pulsations, as standard metering pumps do, making the media flow constant. Indra Valves and Manifold

Set up in 1987, Indra Srl is nowadays at the forefront in the designing and manufacturing of a new concept instrumentation Valves: Manifolds, Monoflanges, SBB & DBB both in needle and ball types, strictly produced in according to the most stringent quality standards of safety and efficiency. The company is characterized by ‘Made in Italy’ and by the monitoring of all the production’s steps, from the engineering to the construction. A product traced in all its phases of production and the certain origin of the materials are fundamental characteristics in critical applications of various industrial sectors, especially for the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industry, where Indra mainly operates. The experience in the understanding of applications requirements, combined with the high flexibility, allows Indra to develop customized solutions designed for customers’ specific needs. The products are machined from the most standard materials but also from those ‘exotic’ materials used for critical applications (Duplex, Super Duplex, Monel...). Attention to quality Indra products are intended to plants and machinery of the highest value and technological content. Hence the need to guarantee the highest quality. For this reason the company has modern machinery for very precise mechanical processing, with testing phases of every single product during the various production steps. Modular Interlocking Manifold SIL4 for Hipps Systems An example of a product suitable to guarantee a high standard of safety, efficiency and quality is

90 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

the Modular Interlocking Manifold SIL4 for Hipps Systems, designed specifically for instrumental control applications. The Modular Manifold permanently guarantees the continuity of information between the process and the pressure sensors: human error is completely eliminated and, in the condition of having to replace and / or check electrical or mechanical damage to one or more sensors pressure, one or more sensors always remain active. Indra’s valves production can be completed with complementary accessories, something that makes the company a favourite and reliable partner for those companies that supply ‘packages’ of various matching goods. Indra products are widely used in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Off-Shore, Power Generation, Naval industries, etc., used as components of plants and machineries with an high commercial and technological value. The certifications Indra Srl is ISO 9001, 14001 e 18001 certified, proof of a company that works according to objectives of growth and continuous improvement. The product certifications are also indispensable: Fugitive Emission, Fire Safe, Ped, Atex, are just some of the certifications available to the customer on request. The company headquarters is in Magenta - west of Milan – in a 3.000 sqm owned building, 1.000 sqm of which are designated as offices. Indra is currently setting up its world wide businessnetwork with several local distributors.

CRANES

Hydraulic Cranes

Autogru Rigo Hydraulic Cranes

RIGO MODEL RT 500 Autogru Rigo few years ago introduced on the crane market a 50 metric tons capacity rough-terrain crane, called RT 500, with 35 meter fully hydraulic and proportional boom length and hydrostatic transmission. The advantages of this transmission are clear and easy to understand: the carrier of the machine becomes a simple box structure with internal steel stiffening ribs. This constitutes an extremely rigid element which is an ideal torsion resistant structure, lighter and stronger than traditional carriers. The RT 500 GVW is 32,5 tons and its carrier only 2,55 meter wide! So standard trailers are enough to transport this unit, without incurring in higher costs for special over-size vehicles. This carrier enables the crane to have a real 360° lifting chart, due to the components location on the superstructure which also simplify maintenance operations. In fact, the diesel engine and hydraulic pumps are all located in the superstructure, where they can be easily serviced when needed. In case of

118 B U Y E R ‘S G U I D E INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

machine malfunction, when there is a problem in the diesel engine or in the transmission, the down-time of replacing a component such as hydraulic pump or motor is much shorter of that if the torque converter or pumps had to be dismantled and then put it back on. It is easy to imagine the large space around the engine and other components that are located on the upper part, where they can be easily reached. On the other hand, on traditional rough-terrain cranes, the transmission (torque converter) is coupled directly to the diesel engine; both components are located on the rear side of the carrier, confined in a tight area, not easily accessible. Another technical feature of the RT 500, is its boom proportional telescoping system. The operator can select to extend the boom section according to 2 main programs using the ideal boom configuration according to the load he is lifting.
