os polifenoles, tan nombrados por sus bondades antioxidantes, son sustancias químicas que se encuentran en las plantas y le brindan color, sabor, las protegen de la acción de los rayos ultravioletas y ofrecen una importante cantidad de beneficios para la salud.

Normalmente todos podemos ingerirlos a través de frutas y verduras. De hecho, los polifenoles más importantes son los flavonoides, contenidos por ejemplo en el té verde, que es un gran aliado para la belleza y la salud; el cacao, los frutos rojos y muy especialmente las uvas.

Un artículo de Nutrición Hospitalaria explica que los polifenoles son reconocidos como poderosos antioxidantes por su capacidad para modular la actividad de diferentes enzimas, por interferir en distintos procesos celulares del organismo y por participar en distintas reacciones metabólicas celulares de óxido-reducción. En este sentido, al ser limitantes de la acción de los radicales libres, reducen el riesgo de padecer cáncer, enfermedades autoinmunes y mejoran los síntomas de la alergia, entre otros beneficios, a los que se suman los efectos positivos para la piel cuando se usan de forma tópica.

Un estudio de la Universitat de Barcelona concluyó que “los efectos principales de los polifenoles sobre la piel son fotoprotectores, tienen acción antioxidante, mejoran la integridad de la piel en su hidratación, textura y pigmentación, y son antiinflamatorios. En general, los polifenoles tienen un efecto muy positivo sobre la piel”.

Además, los polifenoles son considerados prebióticos y esto beneficia no solamente a órganos como el intestino, sino también a la microbiota de la piel. Un artículo en el portal de Thader Pharma detalla que preservar la microbiota es fundamental para el correcto funcionamiento del órgano más grande del cuerpo humano, así como también para cuidar su estructura y prevenir la aparición de algunas patologías.

En este sentido, especifican que los polifenoles pueden “inhibir o aumentar el crecimiento de bacterias específicas en la composición microbiana de la piel. El microbioma es el encargado de actuar como primera línea de defensa del cuerpo contra sustancias tóxicas y patógenos”, pero además, así como trabajan sobre las plantas, protegiéndolas de factores externos, estas sustancias pueden combatir y aliviar los daños que factores como el sol, la contaminación o la exposición a agentes químicos pueden causar a la piel.

¿DÓNDE LOS ENCUENTRO?

La industria cosmética y la industria farmacéutica han incorporado con éxito los polifenoles en las fórmulas de muchos productos. Así, es posible encontrar cremas hidratantes, geles, champús, cremas antifúngicas y sueros. La clave para aprovecharlos es revisar los ingredientes que compongan estos productos: cafeína, té verde, té blanco, aceites de semillas de sésamo y de semillas de uva, aceite de argán, entre otros que se mencionan en la investigación de la Universitat de Barcelona ya citada. Hay que decir, además, que los efectos beneficiosos de los polifenoles se extienden a muchos aspectos de la salud, especialmente sobre el sistema cardiovascular, según variados estudios, y esto es muy importante puesto que las enfermedades cardiovasculares son la principal causa de muerte en el mundo.

De manera que vale la pena destacar que, además de buscar sus beneficios tópicos, recordemos mantenerlos dentro de nuestra alimentación para poder favorecer a nuestro organismo de sus muchas propiedades. Además de estar presentes en el té verde, el cacao y la uva, también están en tomates, berenjenas, y otras frutas y vegetales rojos, como fresas, frambuesas, arándanos, frutos cítricos, soya y lentejas.

Cuando tenía 3 años, mi tío hizo sesiones de fotos para mí y poco a poco comencé a hacer trabajos más profesionales, pero fue a la edad de 13 años que EMPECÉ en el mundo de la pasarela.

¿Cómo aprendiste y con quién?

Siempre me ha apasionado el mundo del modelaje, me parece un mundo muy interesante, estricto y exigente pero también divertido, aunque me gusta combinar este mundo con mis estudios.

¿Por qué elegiste esta carrera?

Las hermanas Hadid siempre han sido mis modelos favoritas desde la primera vez que vi a Gigi Hadid en la pasarela de Victoria’s Secrets se convirtió en un referente para mí.

Principales influencias

Diría que un desfile de moda que hice en Dubai y las portadas de esta revista.

Lo que has hecho hasta ahora trabajo presentaciones importantes, etc.

Me encantaría poder llegar muy alto en el mundo de la moda y ser una de las top models del mundo.

How did you start in what you do?

When I was 3 years old, my uncle did photo sessions for me and little by little I began to do more professional work, but it was at the age of 13 that I started in the world of the catwalk.

I have always been passionate about the world of modeling, it seems to me a very interesting world, strict and demanding but also fun, although I like to combine this world with my studies.

Why choose your career?

The Hadid sisters have always been my favorite models since the first time I saw Gigi Hadid on the Victoria’s Secrets catwalk she became a reference for me.
