Crystal Tuning Forks have just arrived on planet Earth! With precise healing and the energy of pure pristine quartz energy. The consciousness of the Crystal Kingdom has “ascended”, radiating 5th D energies. This higher consciousness deeply influences us just by listening to crystal tuning forks. Each musical instrument creates its own unique harmonics, (a pattern of after sound-ripples that go on-and-on to influence our bodies and consciousness). The material that is producing the vibrations is key - metal instruments emphasize one pattern of harmonics, wood instruments another and crystal instruments yet another! In ancient China and Sumeria, archeologist’s unearthed instruments made of rare materials quartz, precious gold and gem stones. Numerous channeling sessions report that the Ascended Hosts preferred, above all else, instruments made of these with harmonics that advance our consciousness and evolution. If you have this healing frequency in your aura and body, the fork will sound near you. If you have had a bad day or don’t feel well, perhaps it is not in your energy field. You ingest this by simply hearing it. Place the base of the crystal fork on your chakras and above your head to open up greater fields of light within. Use it to clear dark, stagnate and stuck energy within your home or healing areas. With prayer ask a healing angel or diva to enter your crystal fork, making it a talisman – for powerful energy protection. As a crystal stores and transmits energies, use it to store and transmit your manifesting, chanting and toning efforts and energies! The 432 & 528 tones are not readily available. This frequency is in-between our smallest interval of musical notes. An instrument, such as a tuning fork, is required to hear these beneficial frequencies. – For information on purchasing the amazing crystal tuning forks, and much more- check out Jill’s special purchase options at JillsWingsOfLight.com. Give the Gift of Love by Judith Stevens

The poet, Edwin Markham, penned a definition of love as:

must show love, peace, harmony with his fellow man [and woman].” (Edgar Cayce reading 262-43)

He drew a circle to shut me out,

Have you ever tried to “be merciful” to everyone in your world? Many Study Groups have tackled this concept as a weekly discipline and reported back on their progress at the next meeting. What did they learn? We found that unless we could show brotherly love to people of all stripes—extend mercy to people we might not “like” as much as some others—we could not experience true fellowship with God.

Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout – But Love and I had Wit to win. We drew a circle that took him in. It’s no coincidence that the A Search for God, Book I, chapter on “Love” comes at the end of the book— the 12th and final chapter. A Search for God Study Group members had to work up to demonstrating love after learning cooperation, setting spiritual Ideals, practicing fellowship, patience, and unity with all. In the chapter on Love, we are told: “For, he that would expect mercy must show mercy to his fellow man; he that would find peace and harmony in the love of God

4

When a member of Mr. Cayce’s original Study Group asked how she might “…better apply personally the affirmation of this lesson,” (“…make us more aware of ‘God is love,’”) she was told (65 years ahead of the Nike ad campaign) – “Just do it!” (Edgar Cayce reading 262-41) As we cultivate an awareness of God in other people

and in every situation, our acceptance of life begins to expand. We begin to realize that we don’t always have to be right about everything. Love develops in us an active patience that shows just what our development is: whether we are ready to bear with others and overlook their shortcomings, or are primitive in thinking that our way is the only way to truth. We are admonished to “trust” (love) when “slights and slurs” enter in. True love prevents us from feeling “slighted” or taking something personally because we are tired or feel misunderstood or unappreciated. Life is Creative Force in action and is the expression of love. Love, divine love, is universal. As Cayce says, it is found in the smile of a baby, the beauty of a song, and the peace that encompasses nature. Love is manifested in the performance of duty, when there is no thought of personal gain. Three members of our study group are all caring for an elderly parent or special needs child at great personal challenge and cost, but gladly “walk the walk” out of love. Pure, undefiled love is so powerful that men and women lay down their lives for others, forgetting themselves. We’ve heard stories of how someone dived off a bridge to save a drowning person—dragged children out of a burning building, or leapt in front of a grenade or bullet to save a friend. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) Edgar Cayce did this himself each time he gave a reading for others. During the war years [World War II] when many frantic parents contacted him searching for the whereabouts and safety of their sons in service, Mr. Cayce gave up to 10 readings a day (even though his own health readings advised him to give no more than two readings per day.) The “Search for God” material says that in the beginning, Love looked upon the earth and saw that it was good and blessed it. Love (God) is that dynamic force that brings into manifestation all things. It is the healing force, the cleansing force, and the force that blesses everything we touch. With our hearts filled with love, we will see only goodness and purity in everybody and in everything, and not impute any lesser emotions or motives to others. As Love is God, it is therefore our abundant supply. Do we lack? Do we love? Do we allow conditions to keep us from the realization of the presence of God?

Infinity

If so, how can we expect the flow of abundance, when we are keeping the channel blocked by our thoughts and attitudes? What if we make a conscious decision to dwell on our blessings, instead of our hardships? Try this exercise: Tell yourself first thing each morning that whatever happens to you today is God’s Will for you. (I have a sign taped on my car’s dashboard that reads, “Take all that happens as My Planning.”) Then, when something or someone “interrupts” you, love the interruption. Consider it heaven-sent. Since God is the sender, it is our job to welcome whoever or whatever is in front of us. Only when our hearts are full of love—for people, for conditions, for God—can we fully realize this. Love allows no place for hate and recognizes no evil, but sees all things working together for good. The power of love is unlimited. We alone set metes and bounds. We can choose to use our love constructively or selfishly. We may uplift our fellow humans or crush ideals, instigate revolts, or wreck civilization. It all depends on whether we are in love with ourselves or are willing to lay down our lives for others. The Father’s love is the golden thread that is woven throughout the Scriptures. To fulfill the law of love is more than simply to love those who love us. The readings indicate that until we can love others, we have not even begun to develop. And development is exactly what Mr. Cayce’s work is all about. The “Search for God” material was given to help people put into practice spiritual laws, that if used, will help us become people of a higher vibration, people truly changed from within. That change, then, is the gift of love each of us gives to the world.

About the Author: Judith Stevens has been a student of the Edgar Cayce material for over 45 years. Currently A.R.E.’s National Outreach Manager, she also founded A.R.E.’s Prison Outreach Program and was formerly manager of the Study Group Department. As a staff member for over 20 years, she is a regular long-time contributor to Venture Inward magazine, and is also a poet, musician, and yoga instructor. ASpiritual sk Sage Woman: Advice

for the Real World with Sage Woman

Dear Sage Woman, My name is Wendy L. I would love to have some guidance and insight on how to get out of a funk. I feel as if I have had no ambition to even get out of bed in the morning. I seem to wake up every morning cranky and depressed for no apparent reason. Please help! ___________ Wendy, Great to connect with you and let’s face it: we all wake up feeling cranky or even depressed everyone once in a while. When this happens we are truly faced with two choices, either stay in this mood or make a choice to change our mindset by acting in ways that bring us positivity! The great thing is you have a choice! When I have one of those mornings the first thing I do is honor those feelings. I sit for a minute or two and ask myself where are these energies coming from. Am I feeling residue from the past? Am I worrying about the future? I truly sit with the uncomfortable feelings for a few minutes and then make a choice! I will share a few of my own personal tips that I use when I want to shift out of a lower vibration into a higher place of energy. 1. Go for a walk! Take a 10-15 minute walk around the neighborhood and clear your mind. Stretch, look at the sky and feel the simple pleasure of moving your body. I have found that a simple walk every morning is a great way to connect to mother earth and simply be. 2. Count your blessings. Get out your gratitude journal and write down five things you are grateful for. Being in the state of gratitude brings more to be grateful for. 3. Achieve a goal. Even small successes can have big mood payoffs. Get out that to do list and complete one of them today! 4. Meditate. Meditation is a quick, effective way to chill out and improve your outlook. Just a few minutes of sitting quietly, focusing on the breath, and maybe

6

chanting a few Oms can snap us out of a funk. 5. Take your focus off of you. Call a positive friend. Perhaps volunteer your time to one of your passions. Giving is a great way to receive and elevate our mood. 6. Get some sun. A boost of vitamin D can keep the blues at bay. 7. Unplug and have some fun. Every one of us could use a break from our computer, social media and disconnect from your phone. Go do something that feeds your soul! Make time for play! Turns out positivity is a choice! Sending you love and blessings Wendy! Iwith t’s A Wonderful Life Your Angels by Maureen Hollmeyer

Do you remember the last scene in the move ‘It’s a Wonderful Life?’ George’s daughter said, “Look daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets it’s wings.” George looks up to the ceiling and says, “Attaboy, Clarence.” You see, George Bailey, had been contemplating suicide until his guardian angel, Clarence, made him realize how many lives he positively impacted. So, George’s life was saved and Clarence earned his wings. The movie demonstrates that it is a wonderful life to have the love and support from family and friends regardless of your financial shortfalls. Like George, we have all felt hopeless and this movie is a great reminder that we can call upon our angels to help us through any difficulties.

8

The key is to ASK your angels for help! I say this because they need your permission to intervene, as they will not take away your free will. Their main existence is to help you live a joyful & abundant life with lots of miracles! The ironic part is that your angels are already communicating with you, but can you understand their messages? Can you feel their loving touch? Can you see your angel’s bright light? We all have the ability to communicate with our angels and here are some other ways your angels use to give you messages: MUSIC: It’s amazing how a song can transform you

Feb / Mar 2019

in time and trigger memories and emotions as if you are experiencing them for the first time. The angels know how much music touches your soul, makes you laugh and dance with no worries in your heart. What better way to push you in the right direction than through music? For example, I was deciding if I wanted to write about a time in my life when the most significant song for me was St Elmo’s Fire. Do you know, I heard that song almost every single day on the radio! Then once I decided to write it, I never heard the song again because soon after the radio station disappeared. The article my angels encouraged me to write is now published and in a book. I’m so delighted I listened to their guidance! FEATHERS: Have you ever found a feather in the most unexpected place or have you seen a feather floating in the air toward you? Did it get your attention? What were you thinking of at that time? Feathers are associated with fuzziness that gives you a light hearted-feeling. This is what your angels want you to feel along with receiving encouragement to go forward. An example of this is when I was designing angel wings on my driveway and a small, white, fluffy feather appeared. It landed right in between the two wings where I would normally of put a heart. The angels were giving me their heart warmth love and they were suggesting for me to have as much fun as possible! BIRDS, BUTTERFLIES OR LADYBUGS: Have you ever noticed a cardinal that suddenly appeared in your yard after a loved one had passed? Did this bird come to visit you every day around the same time at the same window? Was it almost as if the bird was looking into your eyes and waiting for you to recognize them? This is your angel’s way of getting your attention and I firmly believe this angel is your deceased loved one.

since they know how to present themselves to you in a way that will trigger your memories. My motherin-law was known for collecting ladybugs and my former client loved butterflies. Both of these winged creatures came to visit me shortly after each of their deaths. I had no doubt in my mind who they were since my soul automatically recognized their energy as Joan and Charlotte. RAINBOWS AND COINS: Think about how unexpected and beautiful a rainbow can be to witness along the magical feelings of awe. In my case, when I see a rainbow it’s usually after making a tough decision and I know it’s my angel’s way of saying, “Way to go, you are exactly where you need to be in life.” Think about how exciting it was as a child to find a coin on the ground? Even if it was only a penny, it would make me feel especially lucky. The angels want you to feel this way all the time to keep you from taking life too seriously. For me, I usually find pennies when I need a hug and it always makes me smile! As you can see, there is a common link, it’s that your angels will use whatever it takes to get your attention and you must realize there is no such thing as a coincidence. If you want to live a Wonderful Life continue to seek and learn about your angels to enhance your knowledge of the benefits of welcoming them into your life.

About the author: Maureen Hollmeyer is a Licensed Social Worker and helps others seek answers from their angels through teaching, counseling and writing. Also, she provides Oracle Angel Card readings, designs angel jewelry and uses her angel’s assistance as a Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner Level II.

The Amazing Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate by Dr. Joeseph Mercola Of all the treats available, chocolate is one of the most craved foods in the world. The first solid chocolate bar, made from cocoa butter, cocoa powder and sugar, was introduced by the British chocolate company J.S. Fry & Sons in 1847, but the history of chocolate goes back at least 4,000 years.1 Pre-Olmec cultures in Mexico produced chocolate as early as 1900 B.C. Originally, it was consumed as a bitter beverage. The cacao beans were fermented, roasted, and then ground into a paste that was mixed with water and spices like chili peppers and vanilla, sweetened with honey. Throughout its history, chocolate — “the food of the Gods” — has remained a symbol of luxury, wealth, and power. During the 14th century, the Aztecs and Mayans even used cacao beans as currency. Research has also revealed chocolate has some rather impressive health benefits, provided you’re willing to give up the now-familiar sweetness of modern day milk chocolate. The Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs valued cacao for its mood enhancing and aphrodisiac properties, and it was typically reserved for the ruling class. In the 17th century, cocoa and chocolate were considered potential medicine, and historical documents in Europe reveal they were used to treat angina and heart pain.2 Not All Chocolate Is Created Equal Raw cacao is actually quite bitter, not sweet, due to the nearly 400 polyphenols that are present. When we’re referring to the health benefits of chocolate, this is the chocolate we’re referring to. Americans consume an estimated 12 pounds of chocolate per capita each year.3 Unfortunately, the vast majority of that is in the form of milk chocolate candy, which contains very minute amounts of healthy cacao, and loads of sugar. The milk

10

added to milk chocolate can also interfere with your body’s ability to absorb the beneficial antioxidants (polyphenols) in the chocolate. Cocoa Contains Hundreds of Health-Promoting Chemicals Cacao’s benefits are related to naturally occurring compounds in the bean, including epicatechin (a flavonoid) and resveratrol, the former of which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and is thought to help shield your nerve cells from damage. Resveratrol, a potent antioxidant, is known for its neuroprotective effects. It has the ability to cross your blood-brain barrier, which allows it to moderate inflammation in your central nervous system (CNS). This is significant because CNS inflammation plays an important role in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Recent science also shows resveratrol is an exercise mimic and produces similar benefits as exercise to the mitochondria by stimulating AMPK and PKC1alpha which increase mitochondrial biogenesis and mitophagy. Norman Hollenberg, a professor of medicine at Harvard who has spent years studying the Kuna people of Panama (who consume up to 40 cups of cocoa a week), believes epicatechin is so important it should be considered a vitamin.5 The Kuna have less than a 10 percent risk of stroke, heart failure, cancer and diabetes, which are the most prevalent diseases ravaging the Western world.6 Indeed, many studies have confirmed that cacao can benefit your heart, blood vessels, brain, nervous system, and helps combat diabetes and other conditions rooted in inflammation. • One 2012 meta-analysis7 found that eating chocolate could slash your risk of cardiovascular disease by 37 percent and your stroke risk by 29 percent.

Feb / Mar 2019

• Another meta-analysis8 published that same year found that cocoa/chocolate lowered insulin resistance, reduced blood pressure, increased blood vessel elasticity, and slightly reduced LDL. In one study,9 patients consuming 100 grams of flavanol-rich dark chocolate for 15 days showed decreased insulin resistance. • According to a paper10,11 published in the journal Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, cocoa polyphenols may have specific benefits for cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and cancer prevention. The authors note that:

contains more than 16.5 milligrams (mg) of catechins per gram (g), whereas Jamaican cocoa contains less than 2.7 mg per gram.

The phenolics from cocoa may ... protect against diseases in which oxidative stress is implicated as a causal or contributing factor, such as cancer.

They also have antiproliferative, antimutagenic, and chemoprotective effects, in addition to their anticariogenic effects.” Processing Destroys Many Valuable Nutrients As noted in the Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity paper,37 the nutrients found in raw cacao are easily altered and destroyed through processing. The bitterness of raw cacao beans is due to their high concentration of polyphenols. To some people, cacao is virtually inedible because of its bitterness. To make it more palatable, chocolate manufacturers decrease the polyphenol content, and as a result you can find products containing anywhere from 10 to 100 percent polyphenols. In dried fresh cacao beans, the total polyphenol content is around 15 to 20 percent, whereas fermented, non-defatted beans contain just 5 percent. The reason for this is because the fermentation process reduces epicatechin and soluble polyphenol content by as much as 20 percent; anthocyanidins are removed altogether, and procyanidins are decreased by as much as 500 percent. The phenolic content of cocoa also varies depending on its origin. For example, Costa Rican cocoa

Unconditional Love by Cynthia White Flower

Unconditional Love has given us life. Unconditional love is the life force that courses through us. With unlimited generosity, we were created. We are the gift of divine love. Enlightenment is our path. We are here to discover and acknowledge our divinity, to maintain and grow it, to shine and share it, to learn and to teach it. Unconditional love is our legacy.

explore our divinity is to walk the path of enlightenment. Electrons explained that light is the “transmitter” of the Creator’s peace, happiness, beauty and abundance. We are instructed to turn our “consciousness to the light within, for that is the connection with the Creator over which the Creator’s substance and perfection flows to enrich the individual...”

Divine love is our reason for living. Divine love is everywhere, in everyone and in everything, resonating at its frequency of light. To be enlightened is to open the door to more light, to manifest a higher and faster vibration, opening to knowledge and love. We are Divine Love in Action. We are told in the book Electrons, “Light is the instrument of the Great Universal Intelligence.” We are The Light resonating at our own unique frequency, opening to allow the electrons to take us higher in awareness and consciousness. They make the changes and do the work for us according to our bidding. To

There are many ways to grow the light within. The affirmation “I AM the light” brings this resonance to us. To affirm it- is to become it. Meditation takes us away from chaos and helps us to do what the Buddhists refer to as “walking the Middle Way” or choosing to exist in between emotional extremes. As we meditate, our heart gathers and holds light. As we close our eyes and feel the light within our heart, we can imagine a small sun, expanding slowly, filling, then engulfing our body. We feel the peace of the light! Let’s breathe. We can add an affirmation, “I AM the resurrection and the life.”

12

Feb / Mar 2019

This statement recorded in The Holy Bible, John 11:25, was spoken by Jesus the Christ. It has been reported to invigorate and renew. We can add to it anything that we want to change, such as “I AM the resurrection and the life of my enlightenment” or “of new discoveries” or “of my prosperity.” “My health” is a great one to affirm and change as well! Finally, before we drink water, we can declare, in union with The Great Creator, that it is now changed into the Light of God” and see our self drinking and filling with The Light. Carrying more light helps us to feel at ease, experience more joy and feel abundantly blessed. We have been given the gift of free will, a present of unconditional love! While we live in a world filled with laws, rules and socialization, we are free to think what we want to think. Our thoughts go out, do the job of landing where we sent them and boomerang back to lodge within us, all the while, drawing more of the emotion we commissioned within them. We are loved and trusted to be our own Creator. Free will is our paint-board where we construct our lives and our choices determine our life’s path. This system of unconditional love shows that we are trusted to be wise and to know what is best for ourselves. We are provided - not one- but many fair chances to “make it right” through reincarnation. This system of fairness confirms that, what we put in, is exactly what we get out of life. This is love! Unconditional love! Essentially, God said, “I will give you all that I have and I will allow you to create what you want.” Rumi observed, “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” “Created in the image and likeness of God,” Genesis 1:27 informs us that we are the entirety of God in All that We Are- right here and now. Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda teaches that “Selfrealization is the knowing in all parts of body, mind, and soul that you are now in possession of the kingdom of God; that you do not have to pray that it come to you; that God’s omnipresence is your omnipresence; and that all that you need to do is improve your knowing.” We are the Divine, but we don’t know all of the answers. The more we know, the more there is to know. Rumi observed, “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Where we resonate is where our lessons are. This is what we draw to ourselves. If we choose to resonate higher, we must appeal to our God Self, grow the light and choose to rely on the divine guidance of unconditional love. The entire universe is God’s cosmic motion picture, and that individuals are merely actors in the divine play who change roles through reincarnation; mankind’s deep

suffering is rooted in identifying too closely with one’s current role, rather than with the movie’s director, or God.” “You are a volume in the divine book - A mirror to the power that created the universe. Whatever you want, ask it of yourself. Whatever you’re looking for can only be found Inside of you.” Rumi For a more fulfilling life, choose the path of enlightenment, new discoveries and prosperity. Allow Divine guidance of unconditional love to lead the way.” Pray with me: Beloved Great Creator, I thank you for the gift of today. I thank you for all that is normal. I thank you for love and all of the loved ones in my life and in my world. I thank you for the blessings of this moment in time. I thank you for the path of enlightenment, new discoveries and prosperity. I thank you for my health. Thank you for a fair and Divine system that allows me to create my own life. I put into Your capable hands All That I AM for the purpose of resonating at a higher frequency. I choose to walk with you, and I ask You to stand where I stand. I thank you for the gift of allowing Your Divine guidance of unconditional love to lead the way. Aho. Mitakuye Oyasin. Amen Works Cited

Rinto ising Above the Chaos Consciousness by Jocelyn Dietrich For a great deal of my life I had been stuck in the same unhealthy patterns that would negatively affect my physical, emotional and spiritual health for years to come. I’m talking about the better part of 15 years. It seems like as a society we are getting sicker and yet more comfortable in our toxic bodies. We have become complacent. Which in turn affects our emotional and spiritual health. Say what? Yes, we are ignoring the warning signs and refusing or even worse can’t hear when our body or spirit speaks to us. I’m not saying it’s a substitute for regular visits to our medical professionals but just think about it…we have the most amazing resources right at our fingertips – our intuition being one of them. The magical way our body simply knows what it needs and/or what to do. Its like having a bird’s eye view of our own situation. Unfortunately, when we choose to tune out our intuition, we obsess over things like yo-yo dieting, body image and become consumed by anxiety. When we get into this mindset, we are unable to see, hear, and sense the subtle cues. After many years of disordered eating, putting undue pressure on my body and being caught in the nasty binge/starve cycle that many women and men get sucked into for multiple reasons including societal pressures and childhood trauma. I slowly realized that my health was deteriorating at rapid speed especially for my relatively young age. With the help of some spiritual professionals as well as the power of my own intuition and new-found healer abilities I forced myself off the endless wheel of negative patterns that I had come to identify with. These negative patterns had literally become a part of my being. They had imprinted onto my soul and I clutched onto them with a vengeance. I honestly didn’t know who I was without identifying with 14

the negative patterns. They were my comfort and I welcomed it. Because of this I allowed these patterns to continue much longer than they had to. The prolonged cyclical eating patterns and blocking out my intuition was causing infection and disease to work its way through my body. In my case this was in the form of auto immune and candida. Once I accepted that I had a strong spiritual bond with allowing victim hood to control my life and realised that my thoughts, negative or positive would turn into the reality that is around me. Usually that looked and felt like chaos. Everyone’s version of chaos will be different. Ultimately, I decided to take some steps to break free. This too will look different for everyone. But the end goal is the same. Personally, I embarked on a few months’ worth of intense shadow work where I worked through accepting all parts of me, dark and light and the role that I played in continuing the chaos that was not intentionally started at my own hands as a young girl. Life isn’t always fair, and I had to let that go. I did two candida cleanses to get my body back on track and rid myself of all the years of pressure that binge eating put on my body. I try to eat intuitively. I worked on filling my house up with healthy and filling foods. I try to cook meals at home. I have incorporated light exercise (mainly walking) outdoors into my days. I meditate each morning and keep a journal of my daily thoughts. Good or bad they get put down on paper so that I can let them go at the end of the day. I surround myself with positive people. I started a food journal online which helps to fuel my creativity and keeps me motivated to continue the path of good health and happiness. Most importantly, although it was hard, I chose Feb / Mar 2019

to forgive people who contributed to the chaos that set me down the dark and lonely path that I stayed on for many years. Making these daily choices and changes, choosing to live in the present and feed body, mind and spirit all good things leads to living consciously and really appreciating life. Forgiving the past, letting it go, trying not to live in fear of the future – but really settling in and holding space for the present. That’s where our enlightenment is. That’s where the work of consciousness begins. It takes courage and resilience to rise above the chaos and learn to trust the power of our intuition and love all aspects of self again.

BTestimonial aker Chiropractic more permanent PE tube placement, and to repair to my deviated septum. I would not recommend sinus surgery to anyone! It was extremely painful and took almost a month to recover from. About a month after surgery, the ENT figured out why I was taking so long to recovery! I developed Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). My follow up CAT scan showed that the sinus surgery was not successful. Due to the infection, more scar tissue had formed in my nose and sinuses. His recommendation? Let’s do the surgery again! I told him that I needed time to consider my options. Valerie Hobbs and Dr. Patrick Baker “Early one morning, I sent a message to Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. By 4:00 pm that same afternoon I started on my road to recovery. Over 10 years ago, I began having chronic ear and sinus infections. I have 2 older sisters and they both began having ear infections around the same age. They both had PE tubes placed and never had issues with ear infections again. My primary care doctor treated the infections for a while and then recommended that I see an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. The first ENT told me that adults don’t get chronic ear infections. Basically, he totally blew me off. No treatment was provided! I found another ENT and was taken seriously. Unfortunately, his interventions did not lead to success. He recommended PE tubes and they worked for about 6 months. Even with the tubes, I had 2 additional ear infections. The last ear infection resulted in the tubes being displaced. The ENT allowed my ears to “heal” and started me on an allergy medication. He also recommended that I see an allergist. I began a long road of twice a week allergy injections. The only thing that I received from the allergy injections was that I no longer have a fear of needles! Next, the ENT recommended sinus surgery for new,

About 2 months later, I woke up in excruciating pain. I called my ENT and was informed that he was no longer in practice. I called my PCP and she was able to find me another ENT. The PE tubes, placed two months prior, were no longer in the place. He removed the tubes from the ear canal and told me to see him in 3 months. My PCP finally decided that I should see a SINUS guy! I was thrilled that I would finally get relief from chronic pain and pressure. I had another CAT scan done. All my hopes were short lived. The ENT looked at my CAT scan and said that “if I was looking for surgery then I came to the wrong doctor.” Surgery was the last thing on my mind. But to get relief, I would have gladly had another surgery! The doctor then recommended that I take allegra and a saline spray daily. He assured me that this would relieve all my symptoms! A year later, he was dead wrong! In this past year alone, I have seen a doctor over 20 times! All visits were for my ears or sinuses. Even after all those visits, I still had chronic sinus pain and pressure. That pressure led to multiple ear infections in the past year. After too many sleepless nights, I searched and found Baker Chiropractic and Wellness and submitted an appointment request at 4:00 am. I received a response from Danielle by 8:00 am with an appointment that same day. I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was

S Most trengthen Love, with the Unexpected Thing! by Jill Mattson

Music makes us feel, but can it make us be more loving?” Love and the energy of music are more connected than we ever imagined! Both energies have waves, which alter each other when they are in close proximity. A movie makes you feel, largely because of the sound track. Music plays your “feelings,” as if your body is a harp. If music can trigger your feelings, the right music can create loving feelings. Music can move you to feel love, but a fleeting song doesn’t last long. We don’t use this way to create love, because we want a lasting love. The important question is, how much listening-dosage is required to create a lasting love? To really make a difference, you must listen a lot, a really long time, until you fill up

20

with so much love, that it alters your character and you become a loving person. That is a lot of listening! But the impact of making someone more loving is incredible and could be a huge change! Using music to enhance love seems crazy, but it was not always so. Ancient sages created uplifting feelings through music, and then listened for incredible amounts of time. With each listen they ingested a tiny amount of this desired energy via music. For example, if they wished to make a boy ferocious, he was constantly exposed to brutal music. In the same way, a person was softened with continual gentle music. Ancient sages prescribed listening to music (with a consistent feeling) – many thousands of times until it was a dominant energy within one’s personality. These masters considered this the quick way to change one’s personality.

Feb / Mar 2019

A habit is created by repeating targeted feelings over and over until they automatically surface from our unconscious mind. We feel desired things by playing certain music over and over again. In this way we create a good habit from listening to music, perhaps just background music. This can create a dominant personality trait. No will power or attention is needed for this upgrade, other than listening to enjoyable music while doing other things. Our ears never sleep, so we can even sleep with the special music, getting in lots of replicated listens. (Imagine progress from sleeping!) Music is accessible, free or inexpensive and can be repeated and repeated. Sound energy, music, can intensify love. What are other ways to use this phenomena? For example, to acknowledge your loved one’s beauty (personality or appearance), play beautiful music to grow the feeling of beauty. The author composed the Deep Wave Beauty CD, which is beautiful music to make you feel beautiful. But music can do even more than make you feel, Deep Wave Beauty music contains frequencies associated with vitamins, collagen and muscle in the face and neck. This music is like aural makeup, delivering beauty on many levels. Yet another way to use music to enhance love is to speak with a loving voice. Recall that emotions and sounds combine. The “hello” you say when you are angry or loving is quite different. If every word out of your mouth including the feeling of love, your whole life could change. Think how your relationships would change if you delivered this energy every time that you spoke. Music is like a pager, connecting you to your memories. When you hear a favorite a song from your youth, you remember when you heard it. It transports you back to that place and time. The song serves up the feelings that you had when you heard it long ago, creating a moment of youthening. Here’s a another way to enhance love with music. Select a love song and make it “your song.” When this song is played, entwined your feelings with the feelings of the music, as both the sounds and emotions combine into one energy. This love song now creates

Infinity

your loving feelings when you hear it. The special song, that has bonded your feelings, is like a safety deposit box of love. You can create such treasure troves of love that you can dip into – perhaps when you need it the most. Love exists without music, but special music can amplify it. Music communicates love like no words can, and “stores” it for later enjoyment! Music can change you ever so subtly - with each transformative listen! With careful select of your music, you can enjoy every moment of personal transformation!

Your Relationship Plan for the New Year

by Jody Johnston Pawel, LSW, CFLE As you look forward into this New Year, what are your intentions and resolutions? If you are like most people, you want to improve your health, receive greater abundance into your life, make new friends and keep the old, and have positive fulfilling relationships at work and home. If you look way into your future, to the end of life, which of those things will bring you the most fulfillment? Certainly improved health extend your life, but sooner or later we all die. Wealth and other forms of prosperity certainly make life more enjoyable, but “you can’t take it with you.” The one thing you do take with you are your relationships. While you can’t physically take people with you, your soul has a relationship with each person in your life. The purpose of that relationship could be to teach lessons, balance karma, heal past issues, gain experience, or other possible reasons. Some people believe in soul families that reincarnate together and whatever you don’t resolve here will follow you to another life to resolve. Whatever the reason or your beliefs, one thing’s for sure: every single person in your life is part of your life’s flow, of give and take. Obviously, no one wants drama, dissention or to have broken relationships, yet it seems to happen to almost everyone. You can resolve to improve or heal relationships, but just how can you do that? Most people use trial and error, trying to figure out the way, maybe never getting healed. Fortunately, you can create a plan to follow. One possible blueprint is taught in the “Relationships Come F.I.R.S.T. (Formula for Improving Relationship Success Tools)” course, which is an evergreen course offered online and that will be offered live in the tri-state region in June through Relationship Toolshop®.

22

A plan for improving your relationships can start by deciding to dump the drama and choose the path of enlightenment, new discoveries and abundance. It involves letting go of blame and embracing unconditional love, for yourself and others. Then follow this six-step plan for improving your relationships: 1. Adopt a Conscious Relationship Mindset. Most relationships are influenced by old belief systems and petty drama patterns that were programmed in childhood, which determine perceptions and emotions. Instead, intentionally create a belief system of your choosing. 2. Reframe your trigger buttons, which cause you to react (or over-react) to situations and people today that remind you of past experiences and people. Instead of blaming others for “pushing your buttons,” use triggers to identify areas you need to heal, so you can take responsibility for your own healing. 3. Learn and use effective listening, communication, and problem-solving skills. Too often, we and others use psychological games that are emotionally dishonest, like “I’m the victim here,” “I’m a martyr, and “see what you made me do!” These are defense tactics that protect the ego, but create a wall that prevents intimacy and healthy relationships from forming and growing. Unfortunately, most people don’t learn these healthy skills in their family of origin, but fortunately you can learn or improve them now. 4. Understand the mind-body connection. When you have a thought, it creates a bio-chemical reaction that you experience as “feeling” an emotion. Other people and things are not responsible for making you feel emotions, your thoughts are, and you can control and choose your thoughts. This is what mindfulness is all about. By being more mindful about choosing your thoughts, you can experience greater inner peace and not get hooked by people and situations. 5. De-program trigger buttons and emotional

Feb / Mar 2019

addictions. When the body chronically experiences toxic emotions, it can eventually cause health issues, like dis-ease. A body that has been consistently fed toxic emotions can become addicted to or dependent on these bio-chemicals. Then the subconscious mind will create situations that cause drama, to feed this addiction. By understanding this process is unintentional and subconscious, you can consciously and intentionally break these addictions and heal the cellular memory of trauma and other toxic emotions. Techniques like Emotional Freedom Technique, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming, and hypnosis are just a few that can help. 6. Embrace the fact that your thoughts, words and actions are what create your reality. Instead of resisting what is, either accept it or change it by changing these three areas. When they are aligned, they will create whatever they are aligned to, positive or negative. By intentionally aligning them for what you do want, and getting excited that it is already becoming that, it increases your electro-magnetic vibrations, which then attracts those positive people and experiences into your life. By taking these steps, you can literally change every aspect of your life, including improving your health, receiving greater abundance into your life, making new friends and keeping the old, and having positive fulfilling relationships at work and home. They are universal principles, so they work whether you are conscious of them or not. Once you take responsibility for addressing everything in your life, instead of making excuses or blaming others for it, you become empowered to become a victor over, not a victim of, circumstance. That empowerment and good intentions will take you far. Add in more knowledge and skill training and you can literally re-create your reality! May each of you have a year full of love, inner peace, good health, and abundance!

Walking Together

with Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger

Winter is a time for reflection and taking a long view of things. It is a time of reconnection with the Divine and with our friends, family, and our pets. For us it has also served as a reminder of the finite boundaries of physical life. Like many of you, we are coming face to face with the reality that our pets, like us, are aging. We see our dog with arthritis moving more slowly on cold, damp days. Our oldest dog is suddenly having challenges with holding his urine. Terri’s horse, who is close to 30 years old, is becoming forgetful, and may be having small strokes. The cold winter has been hard for him. We are just not ready for any of our kids to leave us yet. We are not. And we find ourselves struggling to cope with the reality that it is up to them, not us, as to when they choose to leave/transition. That last statement bears repeating. It is up to our pets, not us, to choose when they are ready to leave us. Our most important job is to listen closely, so that we can understand their wishes and their timing. One of

24

the things that we have learned over the years, both from our own animals and our clients’, is that each individual animal is different in terms of what “quality of life” means to them. For some dogs, incontinence is not acceptable to them. For others, not being able to get up and move around is the turning point. Still others are not happy if they can no longer run and play, or do their jobs for their families. In our experience, cats can be more difficult to understand in terms of quality of life. It is also much more difficult to determine when they are sick (in some cases) until their health has seriously declined. That may be because cats are both predators and prey. As prey animals, they instinctively will hide lameness and illness as to not appear to be weak to predators. Horses can be much the same way at times, because they too are prey animals. For example, my horse Cheyenne did not start visibly limping until she tore a ligament in her leg; we suspect the ligament was weakened and sore long before it tore. Her survival instinct would not let her limp until she had to.

Feb / Mar 2019

When an animal signals that they want to leave their bodies, we as their humans need to do our best to listen and to respect their decision. We must trust them and the Divine/Universe/God to support and guide them, and us, through the transition process. This is not easy. We love the physical presence of our pets – how they feel when we touch them, how they smell, their physical expressions, their humor, and their demonstrations of affection for us. We don’t want to let them go, and sometimes we unconsciously miss the signs they are giving us. Sometimes we simply cannot imagine life without them, and so we don’t acknowledge their need to leave us. It is difficult, but we must remember that we are their stewards for their lifetime. That includes making sure they have a good ending to their lives with us. We cannot emphasize enough that it is essential to partner with your veterinarian at this time, to discuss the medical aspects of the situation, and to help you make decisions based on the physical condition of the animal. If your vet feels that your pet can come home with palliative care, then make sure you have an ample supply of medications to keep them comfortable and safe. There is a pet home hospice organization in Cincinnati that can assist you with this situation. As harsh as it sounds, make plans ahead of time for what will happen when it is time for your pet to transition. Will they transition at home or at the vet’s office? Will the family and your other pets be able to be with them when they transition? Do you wish to have your pet cremated, or do you wish to have them buried? It is important to make these decisions prior to the actual time of transition so that you are free to be WITH your pet for the remainder of their time with you. Sit with them, remember good times together, and be present with them. Spoil them. Love them. Enjoy the time you have together. Trust the Divine/Universe/God to take care of the rest.

Author’s Spotlight Recommended Reads The 5 Love Languages of Children The Secret to Loving Children Effectively

by Gary Chapman, Ross Campbell Quote from the book- “Only as we give our children unconditional love will we be able to deeply understand them and deal with their behaviors, whether good or bad.” Gary Chapman has been a best selling author of the 5 Love Languages series for many years. His passion is helping people form lasting relationships with their partners and children. Mr. Chapman and Mr. Ross describe the 5 ways children and people speak and understand emotional love. In these series of books, there is a simple evaluation for readers so a person can determine their own love language. In the book, 5 Love Languages of Children, Gary Chapman states that all children are unique and require different ways to be shown love. He notes that for young children, between ages 5 and 8 years old, it can be harder to determine their own love language, but he provides excellent suggestions to show you basic steps. True unconditional love can never spoil a child. Mr. Chapman defines in his book that although no parent can be perfect, it is a lack of training and loving incorrectly that can lead to a unhappy child and parent. A solid and loving relationship between a child and parent is built on a foundation of clear communication.

26

This book will help you identify your child’s emotional needs and how to respond more effectively. The Love Language books were written for the reader to discover ways to have a more enjoyable and healthier relationship with our children, teenagers and partners. Gary Chapman leaves no stone uncovered, he feels it is never too late to tear down the walls and build back a healthy relationship with a teenager or a grown child. Contemplation can occur earlier than adulthood, but having a relationship with The Divine in which we are open to answers that might not be what we had hoped to receive indicates our willingness to grow spiritually. We demonstrate adult thinking when we have the maturity to act on the answers we receive. Contemplation is often accompanied or preceded by the study of something. It may also include speaking with someone, perhaps an expert, about a subject matter. When used as a religious or spiritual practice, contemplation also involves our intuition. If we are contemplating a life change, talking about it to someone more informed, listening to that person’s response, and then combining these elements with our intuition can give us wonderful results. Translated into our spiritual life, we talk to our Higher Power — pray; ask for wisdom from our Higher Power — meditate; and use our intuition to discern the best way to apply what we have received in order to give us the results that will work in our best interest — contemplate.

Thus, contemplation relies on the combination of prayer and meditation to produce answers that might not be readily available without the use of both. Contemplation is a practical tool that also embraces our common sense, although common sense is a relative expression because what makes sense to my life might not make sense to yours. That’s why it’s so important to develop the ability to listen to the voice of The Divine.

It wasn’t until I donned a clerical collar that I came to understand how people viewed religious leaders differently. Some were comforted by my presence while others seemed ill at ease. “Before long I realized that many had been damaged through judgment, guilt, rejection, and condemnation by a religion or by someone religious. I’m happy to report that these people do not have to languish in fear, depression, or resentment. “In Every Path Leads Home, Wayne Holmes has created a brilliant and very gentle way out of religious abuse and intolerance into peace, happiness, and personal freedom. “It is a way to heal us all.

Sauna Use Four Times per Week Slashes Heart Disease Sauna Use Inversely and Strongly Associated With Fatal Heart Attack Previous evidence indicates sauna use has a positive effect on reducing the risk of fatal heart attacks and all-cause mortality in men.7 The aim of this study was to look at the relationship between sauna habits and CVD mortality in men and women. The researchers were particularly interested in whether information on these habits could predict mortality risk. The researchers gathered data from over 1,650 participants with a mean age of 63, of whom 51.4 percent were women. During the study period of 15 years, 181 fatal CVD events occurred, with the risk of mortality decreasing linearly with increasing sauna sessions each week. Interestingly, the researchers found no threshold effect. In other words, even one sauna session a week conferred benefits to the user.8 After adjusting for known CVD risk factors and potential confounding factors, the researchers found the duration of use was inversely associated with mortality. They also found the additional information on frequency provided predictive value of the longterm risk for CVD mortality. The authors offered several explanations for this reduction in risk, including an increased demand on the cardiovascular system without active muscle work, and the fact that heat exposure has blood

pressure-lowering effects, decreasing peripheral vascular resistance and arterial stiffness.9 This supports previous data from the University of Eastern Finland where researchers tracked 2,300 middle-aged men for an average of 20 years. Over the course of the study, 49 percent of the men who used the sauna once a week died as compared to 38 percent who used it two to three times a week and just 31 percent of those who used it four to seven times per week.10 Heat Stress Improves Fitness Affecting Heart Health Saunas increase nitric oxide (NO) production in much the same way as high-intensity exercise. NO is a potent vasodilator that stimulates your brain, kills bacteria, defends against tumor growth and helps boost muscle growth and strength.11 Another benefit to fitness can be attributed to thermogenesis. Exposure to extreme temperatures improves mitochondrial function. When your mitochondria are not working properly, your body’s ability to generate energy is impaired. The key is to eliminate old mitochondria and generate new ones — a process called biogenesis. Strategies to support mitochondrial biogenesis are exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures, exercise and intermittent fasting. Each of these stimulates a transcription coactivator, which is the primary driver for mitochondrial biogenesis. Cardiovascular functioning and good health are dependent on a strong system of functioning mitochondria. Sauna Use Helps Rid Your Body of Heavy Metals Yet another benefit to sauna use is helping to boost the elimination of toxins, including pesticides and heavy metals such as cadmium, arsenic, lead and mercury. Even if you may live a relatively clean lifestyle, it is not uncommon to acquire heavy metals from cosmetics or secondhand smoke or vaping. Near-infrared saunas are particularly beneficial for detoxifying heavy metals as they heat your tissue several inches deep and enhance your natural metabolic processes, blood circulation and tissue oxygenation.

Feb / Mar 2019

A problem with reduced sweating may be the result of an increased toxic load, which in turn can adversely affect your heart and brain health. Compared to other strategies to detoxify from heavy metals, sauna use may be one of the best, as it lowers your toxic load in a natural way. As discussed in a previous interview with Dr. George Yu, mobilizing stored toxins for removal may be enhanced by using niacin (vitamin B3). Niacin helps mobilize fat, freeing up toxic chemicals in lipophilic tissues such as your brain. When taken in conjunction with sauna use, the mobilized toxins are safely eliminated through your sweat. Heavy Metal Poison Increases Your Risk of Cardiovascular Disease Acute heavy metal poisoning, such as what happens when you receive a high dose at one time, leaves you feeling confused, vomiting, passed out or numb. However, it’s more likely you will have a buildup of heavy metals in your system over time, resulting in symptoms such as headache, weakness and tiredness, achy joints and muscles, or constipation.12

the body as a plausible explanation for the benefits of chelation therapy on heart health. A recent study20 published in the BMJ used a metaanalysis to demonstrate even low levels of toxic heavy metals pose a risk to your cardiovascular health. Lead study author Rajiv Chowdhury, Ph.D., an associate professor in global health at the University of Cambridge in the U.K., commented:21 “It’s clear from our analysis that there’s a possible link between exposure to heavy metals or metalloids and risk of conditions such as heart disease, even at low doses — and the greater the exposure, the greater the risk.”

Another effect of long-term exposure to heavy metals is CVD. Traditionally, heavy metal toxicity is not counted as a risk factor for CVD.13 However, you likely have been exposed through food, water and your environment. Once in your body, metals displace essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium and increase the rate of inflammation.

12 WebMD, What is Heavy Metal Poisoning?

Repeatedly, large studies like the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey have found heavy metal levels are correlated with cardiovascular health.14 Other perspective studies have confirmed the presence of cadmium,15 lead16 and arsenic17 are associated with hypertension, peripheral vascular disease and other CVD risks.

It is important to know adverse events don’t occur only at high levels, but have also been linked to exposure below current safe standards.18 One of the unexpected positive results in a trial to assess chelation therapy was a reduction in cardiovascular events.19 The National Institutes of Health initiated a secondary study in an attempt to replicate the findings and establish the removal of toxic heavy metal from
