different thing to you than it does to me. Heck, it means different things to everyone. For some being on the scene
might be spending a Saturday night at the most popular nightclub in town. For some being on the scene might be spending a Tuesday evening at a PTA meeting. For some people being on the scene might be spending a Sunday afternoon playing games over a friend’s house. So, although being “on the scene” usually just sounds like dancing the night away with Elton John and Rick James at Studio 54 in 1979, it Photo by Jody Suarez

English, Bremont Watch Company originated from the brothers’ lifelong love and passion for engineering and aviation. They inherited their love of watches, clocks, and all things
mechanical at an early age growing up in the workshop of their engineering father, Dr. Euan English, a Ph.D student of Aeronautical Engineering from Cambridge. As an ex-RAF pilot English also taught the brothers to fly. Award-winning Bremont sold its first beautifully engineered chronometers in 2007 and will sell upwards of 6,000 in this year. Bremont boutiques have recently opened in Mayfair, London which is the location of the first stand-alone store and in Hong Kong. Last year they relocated assembly operations from Switzerland to Henley on Thames, England. The attention to detail given to every watch has placed Bremont proudly at the center of the British revival of fine watchmaking. England is not the only place modern fine watchmaking is appreciated. The appreciation is expanding ever so quickly around the globe.
Michael Pearson, director of North
America operations, says he is driven to sell more of the highend timepieces in the U.S. than are sold in Britain. Pearson is instrumental in expanding Bremont’s operations from eight stores to 50, including distribution to Canada and the Caribbean. Central Texas has the distinction of featuring the Bremont Chronometers collection that is only available at Jack Ryan Fine Jewelry + Timepieces. Together, Pearson and Jack Ryan showcased in October three of Bremont’s most soughtafter timepieces proudly worn by some of the world’s most influential men such as Orlando Bloom, Tom Cruise and Bear Grylls. Offering Bremont to clientele in Austin was an easy decision. Pearson says, “I’ve always loved Austin, and as the director looking after all of North America, there’s always the stereotype of New York, Los Angeles and South Florida. But, Austin has a great deal of passion and power. If you look at how people dress, what they drive and what their houses look like, they are obviously very savvy.” What is it about a Bremont timepiece that makes it one of the most sought after timepieces? detail.
Frankly, it is the attention to
The timepieces are tested beyond
any normal call of duty and are precise and durable. A Bremont timepiece is made to a high specification for the price point and every watch in Bremont’s standard range is Chronometer certified. This means a Bremont timepiece doesn’t just hold its value, but it increases over time. Pearson says, “From the beginning we wanted to create a classic watch.
A timepiece that
could be worn by a man in his 20s and on into his 70s at which time he could look at his wrist and say it is still beautiful.” With a combination of dedication to quality and distinct design, Bremont has put itself on the wish lists of

watch enthusiasts around the world; it is no surprise then that since the launch of its first watches in 2007, Bremont has never looked back. Of course, the resulting awards speak for themselves. Since its founding, Bremont has received many prestigious awards including the Best Emerging British Luxury Brand Award in 2008, the Watch Brand of the Year Award in 2011, and the Couture Design Award in 2012. What’s next for Bremont?
Quite simply,
the goal is to continue making the perfect timepiece. Pearson sums it quite nicely, “There are many trends in watches that go from decade to decade or even year to year, such as size, materials, diamonds, gold, and such. We’re definitely not a fashion brand. We just want to offer a classic watch that will always look good.” 10

will be diagnosed with this disease and approximately 2,650 will lose their battle in Texas. Breast cancer can be successfully treated and when caught early your chances for survival are highest. It’s easy to improve your chances of catching breast cancer early if you actively practice the four steps of breast self-awareness. It goes beyond a breast selfexam and truly focuses on knowing your risk and your body better overall. KNOW YOUR RISK It’s important to know the two biggest risk factors are being female and getting older.
