In 1959 the Allsopp name disappeared from bars. Our assets destroyed. Our original recipes lost.
We’ve delivered our beer across the globe since 1730, through bandit infested canals and over treacherous seas. We've had our beer impounded at borders, not by red-tape but by Napoleon and the largest army the world had ever seen. We’ve been chased out of cities by angry militias while selling our beer into revolutionary Europe. We’ve even sent our beer to the Arctic to rescue pioneering explorers.
Until now. After sixty-two years in the wilderness, Allsopp’s has returned. Jamie Allsopp, seven times great grandson of pioneering brewer Samuel Allsopp, is fulfilling a lifelong dream of restoring the ales that made his family’s name, to their former glory. ur journey began when our founders, two avid homebrewers, pursued their passion for beer and sold their home to fund a 5-barrel brewery, in a shed behind the Pot Kiln Pub in the picturesque Berkshire village of Yattendon. Twenty-six years and four brewery sites later we have steadily grown and built one of the most modern and exciting brewing facilities in the country. What’s more, the family legacy continues to this day, with assistant head brewer and founder’s son Griff Maggs following his passion for beer and playing a crucial role in Brewery team.
