Innis College Mentorship Program

FEATURED

Career Education @ Innis

The Innis College Career Mentorship Program kicked off on Thursday, January 29th, with a lively reception in the Innis Residence. This event brought together upper-year student Mentees with their Mentors, from the Innis alumni & friends community, marking the official start to the program – the first of its kind in the 50 year history of the College. With over 100 guests in attendance, the Events Room was teeming with a spirited combination of eager anticipation, first impressions, and even unexpected reunions. Innis Principal Janet Paterson warmly welcomed everyone to the College, followed by Mentor Rahul Bhardwaj, Toronto Foundation President & CEO, with insights about the importance of mentorship. Fourth-year Innis College and Cinema Studies student, Samii Folliott, capped off the remarks expressing sincere gratitude to all the Mentors, hinting that students themselves might also bring wisdom and insight into their partnership with mentors. Over the next three months, Mentors will connect with Mentees over coffee, email, Skype, and more, to share personal narratives, postgrad expectations, and career advice. The second cycle of the Mentorship Program is expected to run from Fall 2015 to Spring 2016. Applications will be open to any upper-year student of the College or the three academic programs housed at the Innis. Look for promotion of this opportunity as early as April 2015. Thanks to all who took part in this memorable event. We are thrilled to officially welcome you to the inaugural Innis College Mentorship Program!
