Too busy? Here’s what you missed at Innis last week: Innis Swings! Last week ICSS Community Outreach held a Charity Auction & Swing Dance Bid. The Charity Auction was a chance for folks to make a bid to go out on one of eight awesome dates with a fellow Innisian. All proceeds went towards Covenant House Toronto, a shelter for homeless youth in the city. After the auction, the Outreach Committee hosted a swingin' 40s-themed dance. Graham Coulter (top) led the way and gave everyone a taste of the Jitterbug-Jive, a bit of Boogie Woogie, and some serious Swing steps. Photo: Randy Hanbyul Lee Harold’s House was back! Two weeks ago the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) hosted the first Harold’s House of 2015! In a true display of Innis diversity, we were treated to performers spanning many cultures and styles. Rosie Webb (right) performed an acoustic cover of Bombadil’s “A Question” on ukulele. Graham Coulter gave his renditions of “Riptide” by Vance Joy, and “Crazy” by Niles Barkley. Judy Zhu (bottom) performed “The Harmonious Night” on the traditional Chinese erhu.

Entrepreneurship Congratulations to Morgan & Jackson Wyatt, two brothers (both Innis grads who lived at the Innis Residence!) who are just about to launch their incredible product, The Green Lid. The Green Lid was born when Morgan and Jackson Wyatt realized a number of Canadians prefer to throw out organics rather than deal with changing and cleaning their kitchen organics bin. Morgan, who holds a PhD in Chemical Biology, and Jackson, who is in Industrial Design, combined their expertise in microbial metabolism and design to create the Green Lid. Last week, they appeared on Dragon’s Den and practically had the investors fighting over their pitch: Check out the video! They’re all-around super guys and both are mentors in our new INNIS Mentorship program as well.

INNIS COLLEGE LEADERSHIP AWARDS The deadline to apply for any Innis College Leadership awards is April 2nd . Now is a great time start to think about whether you'd apply and what you will need for your application. There are two big "families" of leadership awards, each with their own application. The first group is for returning students (aka "in-course awards"): these recognize exceptional extra-curricular engagment and leadership by candidates, and if a student receives the award, it is paid out upon their reregistration in the Fall of 2015. The second "family" of leadership awards is for graduating students, whether graduating this June or *having* graduated in November 2014. There are also awards with their own applications. One that pertains to this Spring is the M "Fuzz" Friend Memorial Award, which recognizes long term contribution to the life and community of the Innis College Residence. Bookmark this page which focusses on Innis awards requiring applications!
