Innis Celebrates Diwali
Programming Don: Mahvesh Vahidy
On November 7th, Innis took to the night by celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights. In the event hosted by the Office of Student Life, put together by Aakash Arora, students got to learn about the history of Diwali while participating in cultural activates such as Henna and the painting of small traditional clay lamps called Diyas. We even celebrated by setting off sparklers and eating delicious Indian foods like samosas, butter chicken and pakoras. A great time was had by all!
Hey Innis! My name is Mahvesh Vahidy and I will be your Programming Don for the 2014/2015 academic year. I will be entering my final year at Rotman Commerce, specializing in Finance and Management. As your Programming Don, I will be working alongside a team of Life Skills Committee Heads to coordinate programming events to help enhance your residence experience. These programs are designed to help further student development on both a personal and academic level. My advice to all of you would be to find something you’re passionate about and to get involved within the Innis community. My door is always open and new ideas are always welcome! I’m very excited for this year to start and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
