ROOTS OF COMMUNITY

Peregian Beach is a community rooted in connection – from the Kabi Kabi people who moved freely about the wallum to the generations of today calling these sand dunes home.

When the road from the Sunshine Coast to Noosa was nothing but a dirt track, this idyllic village was established almost on accident.

In 1960, developers laid roads along the easiest routes, divided the land on either side into lots and sold the first home with sweeping waterfront views on Pelican Street. Soon after, tennis courts, a sports oval and a caravan park sprung up across the low-lying hills.

Where the village square now grows, a community pool opened in 1964 and attracted scores of locals and visitors. As the story goes, a few larrikins once left a shark in the water for swimmers to find!

As more families moved in, chasing a lifestyle like a leisure trip, they embraced Peregian Beach’s small-town spirit.

The community banded together to create the first kindergarten, the local bushfire brigade and the bowls club,

which later gave way to the Peregian Beach Community House.

Also seeking to protect their natural paradise from urban development, volunteers regenerated dunes and wetlands, which soon became part of Noosa National Park.

Unlike epicentres of tourism along South-East Queensland, this commitment to community living has kept the village free from high-rise hotels and traffic-choked highways. A Hidden Gem, a showroom and studio just off the Village Green, Deborah Noble is seated at her jeweller's workbench, using specialised hand tools to handcraft gold and platinum into luxury gemstone and diamond pieces.

Her passion for design flows from her heart to her fingertips, carried by decades of experience and qualifications in Gemmology and Diamond Grading, Restorations of Antique Jewellery and Custom Hand Manufacturing Jewellery. She opened Alexander Rose Diamond Jewellery to transform every client’s dream design into reality with bespoke pieces of luxury jewellery.

“Many of my clients are seeking unusual designs that represent their own personal ideas,” she said.

Whether you’re discussing the restoration of a magnificent antique family piece or your declaration of eternal love with a dream engagement ring, Deborah will work

with you to capture your vision.

In every consultation, she listens, advises and sketches important details for each personalised design, all of which are drawn to scale for you to approve. Then she disappears into the onsite workshop to create opulence.

“I live for the touch of raw stock gauge 18 carat gold, knowing the creative process will be labour intensive and using a hot torch for soldering and annealing, milling out the gold into exacting mathematical measurements of length and width,” she said.

“All coloured gemstones and luxury diamonds inspire me every day. I’m mesmerised by the brilliance and the fire, the dispersion of light into the colours of the spectrum.”

With mastery of the craft unlike any other local jeweller, Deborah imbues personal meaning into each design, celebrating a moment in time belonging only to you.

Waves of movement from decades past emerge at The Local Peregian, a freespirited concept store brough to life by Boom Shankar’s founder Dui Cameron. The boutique’s eclectic mix of products, including fashion, homewares, giftware, skate gear and music, reflect beachside memories of Peregian Beach.

General Manager Liv Mills said the store’s laidback space allows slow-paced shopping for customers – and both kids and fur babies are welcome!

Peregian Beach is well known for its love of furry friends, so much so they've created their very own dog lovers festival! Doggy Vibes is celebrated in The Village Square on the last weekend of September and raises funds for local canine charities. What was life like growing up on the Sunshine Coast? It was a beautiful environment to grow up in, especially as a kid who loved surfing and the outdoors.

What attracted you to a career in the real estate industry? After landing my first job in real estate at 15, I was highly attracted to the ability to set up a business and lifestyle that was financially rewarding, located in my hometown and did not have an age barrier which is common in many other industries.

What philosophy drives your business model? Honesty, Integrity and Innovation. How would you describe your relationship with clients? We are often complimented by our clients on our ability to communicate effectively, and I enjoy providing them with as much information as possible so they can make the most
