ubo un tiempo en que, al hablar de valores en la empresa, únicamente se citaban los requeridos a los trabajadores: aspectos como la honestidad, responsabilidad, conducta o puntualidad. Más adelante, la cultura de los valores se trasladó a la propia empresa, y ya no queda ninguna que no los tenga convenientemente definidos, junto con su misión y su visión. Además, aquellas de mayor tamaño desarrollamos manuales de políticas y procedimientos, esto es, estándares que regulan las relaciones internas y también el modo en que interactuamos con nuestros clientes. Todo esto, junto con la mejora de producto sumada a la creciente tecnología, ya se da por hecho, por lo que está dejando de ser un factor distintivo. De ahí que, en una empresa como la nuestra, cuya misión es ofrecer una extraordinaria experiencia (como todas las dedicadas al sector servicios), nos centramos en poner el foco en el valor que damos a nuestros clientes. ¡Por supuesto que invertimos en hardware para que nuestros campos e instalaciones se modernicen y estén en las mejores condiciones! El progreso en innovación tecnológica y en procesos de gestión es continuo en nuestros establecimientos, como usted bien puede comprobar año tras año. Pero en nuestra opinión, el hecho que supone un factor diferencial, el que transmite todo el esfuerzo empresarial, es la persona comprometida. Por eso invertimos tanto esfuerzo en reforzar el talento, la formación y los valores de las personas, que son las que hacen que las cosas buenas sucedan. Aspectos como anticiparse a los deseos del cliente, tener un compromiso absoluto con la experiencia ofrecida, ser flexible, hacerse visible, trabajar en equipo, tener la capacidad para reaccionar a imprevistos, y también para aprovechar oportunidades. En definitiva, sentirse parte y ser participativo, configurando el futuro, no gestionando hechos pasados, con un empoderamiento adecuado, responsable y de confianza. Es imposible poder escribir lo anterior en los manuales, y por supuesto es una ardua tarea controlarlo todo; pero sí es posible contar con jardineros que miman el corte del campo, agentes de reservas empáticos con las necesidades de cada jugador, un servicio del restaurante prestado con la máxima profesionalidad y cariño... Siendo siempre conscientes de que la suma de todos estos detalles es el componente distintivo que nos singularizará. Y de eso estamos muy orgullosos: del compromiso de todas las personas que forman parte de Arabella Golf y de su sentimiento responsable, ocupen el área que ocupen, trabajando juntos con un enfoque holístico, centrados en dar satisfacción a los clientes que nos visitan y que merecen lo mejor. ¡Gracias a todos por hacerlo posible!

ALUES. Once upon a time, when one spoke of values within a company, only those required of its employees were cited: aspects like honesty, responsibility, conduct or punctuality. Later, the culture of values was transferred to the company itself, and now every single business has duly defined its values, along with its mission and vision. And in larger firms we develop manuals of policies and procedures, standards that regulate internal relations and also the way we interact with our customers. All this is taken for granted now, as is product improvement in conjunction with growing technology, and as a result it is no longer a differentiating factor. Therefore, in a company like ours, the mission of which is to offer an extraordinary experience (like all those dedicated to the services sector), we centre on focusing on the value we provide for our customers. Naturally we invest in hardware so that our courses and installations are modernized and maintained in the best of conditions! Progress in technological innovation and management processes is continuous in our establishments, as you can verify year after year. But in our opinion, the thing that does comprise a differential factor, transmitted by all of the corporate effort, is the commitment of people. Which is why we invest so much work in strengthening talent, training and people values, which are what make good things happen. Factors such as anticipating customers’ wishes, being totally committed to the experience on offer, being flexible, making ourselves visible, working as a team, having the ability to react to unforeseen events, and also to grasp opportunities. In short, feeling a part of things and being participative, shaping the future instead of managing past events, with appropriate, responsible and trustworthy empowerment. It is impossible for the above to be written up in manuals, and of course, controlling everything is an arduous task; but it is possible to have

Uns immer bewusst sein, dass die Summe all dieser Details unser Unterscheidungsmerkmal ist, das uns von anderen abhebt. Wir sind sehr stolz auf das Engagement aller Mitarbeiter der Arabella Golf, auf ihr Verantwortungsgefühl, egal in welchem Bereich sie tätig sind. Mejoras tangibles e intangibles

stimad@ golfista: Es una satisfacción informarle, una edición más, de las interesantes novedades que rodean a Arabella Golf. Nuestro deseo es siempre mejorar la experiencia de quienes nos visitan. En esta ocasión las mejoras pueden dividirse en dos: las intangibles, es decir, aquellas que suman valor gracias a las aportaciones de nuestro equipo humano; y las tangibles, las que se pueden ver y disfrutar, y en las cuales, al igual que en la formación continua de nuestro equipo, invertimos año tras año. Una noticia a destacar es que estamos implementando satisfactoriamente nuevos estándares de servicio. Lo hacemos con el fin de que nuestro equipo ofrezca una excelente atención al cliente en nuestros 4 campos de golf y, también, en las pro shops y restaurantes. Este invierno, Golf Son Vida finalizará el segundo año de mejoras —nuevos tees de salida, nuevos bunkers de calle y nuevo sistema de riego. Además, la idea es renovar la flota de buggies en este emblemático campo. Quiero resaltar también que toda nuestra estrategia tiene siempre en cuenta el componente sostenible. Un buen ejemplo ha sido el cambio de botellas de plástico por las fuentes de agua, que ha tenido tan buena acogida que nos han citado como uno de los 10 resorts de golf más sostenibles del mundo. En breve vamos a producir nuestro propio aceite de oliva, que usted podrá degustar en nuestros restaurantes. Y, de cara a 2020, tenemos planeado sembrar otros 200 olivos que, además de producir aceitunas para obtener más aceite, harán que los campos luzcan todavía más atractivos. Por último, verá que en Golf Son Muntaner hemos instalado unos paneles informativos que contienen información relativa a la fauna y flora del campo, lo que otorgará más visibilidad al hábitat natural extraordinario tanto de éste como del resto de campos de Arabella Golf Mallorca. Es un placer formar parte de sus buenos recuerdos.

ANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE IMPROVEMENTS. Dear Golfer, It is with satisfaction that I can inform you, in yet another issue, of the interesting news surrounding Arabella Golf. Our wish is always to improve the experience of those who visit us. This time, the improvements can be divided into two categories: intangible ones, i.e., those which add value as a result of the contributions made by our human team; and tangible ones, which can be seen and enjoyed and into which we pour investment year after year, as with the continuous training of our team. One piece of news worth highlighting is that we are satisfactorily implementing new service standards. We do this so that our team can offer customers an excellent standard of attention on our 4 golf courses, as well as in the pro shops and restaurants. This winter Golf Son Vida will conclude a second year of improvements — new tee-offs, new fairway bunkers and a new irrigation system. The plan, moreover, is to renew the fleet of buggies on this emblematic course. I would also like to draw attention to the fact that our entire strategy always keeps the sustainability component in mind. One good example was the switch from plastic bottles to water fountains, which has met with such a good reception that we have been cited as one of the 10 most sustainable golf courses in the world.

And, looking towards 2020, we plan to plant a further 200 olive trees which, as well as producing olives in order to obtain more oil, will make the courses even more attractive than they already are. Finally, you will see that in Golf Son Muntaner we have installed some information panels displaying details relating to the fauna and flora on the course, so as to make the extraordinary natural habitat of both this course and the other Arabella Golf Mallorca courses more visible. ONKRETE UND ALLGEMEINE VERBESSERUNGEN. Verehrte G@lffreunde, Es ist mir ein Vergnügen, Sie auch in dieser Ausgabe über die interessanten Neuigkeiten rund um Arabella Golf zu informieren. Unser Ziel ist es stets gewesen, unseren Gästen ein immer besseres Golf- oder Urlaubserlebnis zu bieten. In diesem Kontext gibt es zwei Arten von Verbesserungen. Zum einen die allgemeinen, das heißt die Wertsteigerung, zu der unser Personal beiträgt. Auf der anderen Seite stehen die konkreten, greifbaren Verbesserungen, die Sie sehen und genießen können und in die wir, wie auch in die kontinuierliche Weiterbildung unserer Mitarbeiter, Jahr für Jahr investieren. Eine herausragende Neuigkeit ist die zufriedenstellende Implementierung neuer Dienstleistungsstandards, damit unser Team jedem Gast vorzügliche Betreuung zukommen lassen kann, sowohl auf unseren vier Golfplätzen als auch in den Pro Shops und Restaurants. In diesem Winter geht auf dem Golfplatz Son Vida das zweite Jahr mit Modernisierungsvorhaben zu Ende: neue Abschlagtees, neue Bunker und ein neues Bewässerungssystem. Darüber hinaus soll die Buggy-Flotte des legendären Platzes erneuert werden. An dieser Stelle möchte ich das Engagement für Nachhaltigkeit in unserer Unternehmensstrategie unterstreichen. Ein gutes Beispiel hierfür ist der Austausch der Plastikflaschen gegen Trinkwasserspender. Das Projekt fand einen derartig guten Anklang, dass man uns als eines der weltweit nachhaltigsten zehn Golfresorts zitiert. In Kürze werden wir mit der Herstellung unseres eigenen Olivenöls beginnen, das Sie in unseren Restaurants probieren können. Für 2020 ist die Anpflanzung von 200 weiteren Olivenbäumen geplant. Damit können wir nicht nur mehr Olivenöl herstellen, auch die Plätze erhöhen mit den Bäumen ihre Attraktivität. Schließlich werden Sie bemerken, dass wir im Golfclub Son Muntaner Informationstafeln mit Erläuterungen zur Fauna und Flora auf dem Platz aufgestellt haben. So wird der außerordentliche, natürliche Habitat, den dieser und die anderen Plätze der Arabella Golf Mallorca darstellen, um vieles sichtbarer. Es ist uns eine Freude, wenn Sie uns in bester Erinnerung behalten.

“Arabella Golf Mallorca es un lugar fantástico para relajarse”

astian Schweinsteiger, reciente abonado Premium de Arabella Golf Mallorca, nos habla de fútbol y golf, sus dos pasiones. ¿Cuándo empezó a jugar al golf? Empecé a jugar con 15 o 16 años. Mi padre se aficionó y me dio las primeras lecciones. Y al cabo de un tiempo yo también empecé a jugar. ¿Cuáles son las principales diferencias y similitudes entre el fútbol y el golf? Ambos deportes son muy físicos y se practican al aire libre con una pelota de por medio. Pero mientras en el golf estás solo, el fútbol es un juego de equipo en el que dependes de más compañeros. ¿Cuándo vino a Arabella Golf Mallorca por primera vez? ¿Qué piensa de Golf Son Muntaner? Vine a Arabella Golf Mallorca por primera vez hace cinco o seis años. ¡Golf Son Muntaner es un lugar increíble! Tienes que concentrarte mucho, porque está lleno de retos. El hoyo 9, hacia la casa club, es un lugar maravilloso. ¿Qué opina de las demás instalaciones? Arabella Golf Mallorca es siempre un sitio fantástico para relajarse. ¡Y sus campos están muy bien cuidados! La zona es buena, la casa club es estupenda, la comida es deliciosa y, sobre todo, el personal es muy amable y te hace sentir muy cómodo. Además, los nuevos driving ranges son perfectos para los principiantes. ¿Cuántos días a la semana juega al golf? Ahora tengo más tiempo que antes. Normalmente intento jugar dos veces a la semana. Pero si mi padre o mi suegro nos visitan, salimos al campo de golf cada dos días.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, who recently became a Premium member of Arabella Golf Mallorca, speaks to us of his two passions, football and golf. When did you start to play golf? I started to play when I was 15 or 16 years old. My father began to play and taught me some golf skills. Afterwards I started playing. What are the main differences and similarities between football and golf? Both of these sports are mostly played outside and include a ball. Golf is a highly physical sport, where you are completely by yourself. Football is very physical as well, but you are very focused, together with your team. When did you came to Arabella Golf Mallorca for the first time? What do you think of Golf Son Muntaner? The first time I came to Arabella Golf Mallorca was five or six years ago. Golf Son Muntaner is an amazing place! You have to concentrate a lot, because it isn’t that easy to play.

Hole 9, on the way to the clubhouse, is a wonderful place! What is your opinion of the other facilities? Arabella Golf Mallorca is always a great place to get some peace and to relax. And it is a very well-kept place! It’s a good area, the clubhouse is great, the food is delicious and above all the friendly staff cater for your maximum comfort. Also, the new driving ranges are perfect for beginners. How many days a week do you play golf? Now I have more time than in the past. Normally I try to play twice a week. But if my dad or my father-in-law are visiting us, we are on the golf course every other day.

Wann haben Sie mit dem Golfspielen begonnen? Mit 15 oder 16 Jahren. Mein Vater begeisterte sich für Golf und hat mir die ersten Stunden gegeben. Und nach einer Weile fing ich dann auch mit dem Spielen an. Worin bestehen die hauptsächlichen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen Golf und Fußball? Beide Sportarten werden zumeist unter freiem Himmel und mit einem Ball gespielt. Golf ist ein sehr physischer Sport, den du allein ausübst. Fußball ist auch körperbetont, aber da spielst du zusammen mit deinem Team. Wann waren Sie das erste Mal auf einem Platz der Arabella Golf Mallorca? Wie bewerten Sie den Golf Son Muntaner? Vor fünf oder sechs Jahren kam ich zum ersten Mal zu Arabella Golf Mallorca. Der Golf Son Muntaner ist ein großartiger Ort! Du musst dich total konzentrieren, der Platz ist voller Herausforderungen. Die Bahn 9, Richtung Clubhaus, ist einfach wunderbar. Und die anderen Anlagen und Einrichtungen? Arabella Golf Mallorca ist immer ein phantastischer Ort zum Entspannen. Die Plätze sind äußerst gepflegt, die Gegend exzellent, das Clubhaus phantastisch, das Essen köstlich und, vor allem, ein ganz besonders freundliches Personal, das dir den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm macht. Außerdem sind die neuen Driving Ranges perfekt für Anfänger. Wie oft in der Woche spielen Sie Golf? Jetzt habe ich mehr Zeit als früher und versuche, wenigstens zwei Mal pro Woche Golf zu spielen. Wenn mein Vater oder mein Schwiegervater uns besuchen kommen, gehen wir alle zwei Tage auf den Platz.

uándo y por qué vino usted a vivir en Mallorca? Vine a Mallorca en 2013, después de 45 años en el negocio de la restauración. Tras pasar las vacaciones en Mallorca cuatro años seguidos, a mi mujer y a mí nos pareció natural mudarnos a la isla. El tiempo, la gente y el ambiente hacen que sea muy diferente a Suecia. ¿Cuándo empezó a jugar al golf y por qué? Empecé a jugar al golf en 1976, cuando dejé de jugar al fútbol. Tenía muchos amigos que me convencieron a jugar al golf, y encajaba bien con mi trabajo en el mundo de la restauración. Usted es socio Premium de Arabella desde 2013. ¿Qué ventajas le supone? Facilidades para reservar horas de salida, driving range gratuito, buenas ofertas en los restaurantes y en los pro shops, y también en el Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel y en el Castillo Hotel Son Vida. ¿Qué opina de cada uno de los 3 campos, Golf Son Vida, Golf Son Muntaner y Golf Son Quint? Son 3 campos con diferentes características, y eso me facilitó la elección cuando decidí hacerme socio, con derecho a jugar en todos ellos. Usted es miembro del “Happy Group”. ¿Qué actividades desarrollan? El Happy Group se estableció en 2013. Éramos ocho personas de diferentes nacionalidades a los que nos encantaba el golf. Ahora somos 115 en el grupo, y jugamos cada martes y jueves en los campos de Arabella Golf. Es una estupenda manera de hacer networking. ¿Cuáles son sus responsabilidades como miembro de la Junta Directiva de Club de Golf Son Vida? Hacer más agradable la vida social para todos los socios de los diferentes países, realizando concursos y cenas. Y también pensando ideas sobre cómo mejorar los campos, la vida del club, el servicio y la relación con los socios.

OLF: IT’S A GREAT WAY TO DO NETWORKING”. When and why did you come to live in Mallorca? I came to Mallorca in 2013, after 45 years in the restaurant business. After taking vacations in Mallorca four years in a row, it felt natural for me and my wife to move here. The weather, people and atmosphere made a big difference from staying in Sweden. When did you start to play golf and why? I started playing golf in 1976 after I stopped playing football. I had a lot of friends who talked me into golf, and it combined well with my job in the restaurant world. You have been a Premium member at Arabella since 2013. What does it mean, and what advantages do you have? Easy access to book tee times, free driving range, great deals in the restaurants, pro shops and also at Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel and Castillo Hotel Son Vida. Can you please comment on your feelings about each of the 3 courses, Golf Son Vida, Golf Son Muntaner and Golf Son Quint? They are 3 courses with different characteristics; this made the choice easy for my when I decided to join, with membership that allows me to play on all of them.

You are a member of the “Happy Group”. What activities do you engage in? Happy Group was established in 2013. We were eight people from different countries who loved golf. Now there are 115 of us in the group and we play every Tuesday and Thursday at the Arabella Golf courses. It’s a great way to do networking. What are your responsibilities as a member of the Board of Directors of the Club de Golf Son Vida? To make social life pleasant for all members from different countries with competitions and dinners and come up with ideas on how to improve the courses, club life, service, and relationship with the members.

Dann haben wir vier Jahre lang Urlaub hier gemacht. Anschließend haben meine Frau und ich uns für Mallorca als Wohnsitz entschieden, das erschien uns ganz natürlich. Das Klima, die Leute und die Atmosphäre unterscheiden sich sehr vom Leben in Schweden. Wann und aus welchem Grund haben Sie mit dem Golfspiel begonnen? Ich hab 1976 mit Golfen angefangen und mit Fußball aufgehört. Viele meiner Freunde hatten mich auf die Idee gebracht, Golf passte außerdem gut zu meiner Arbeit im Gaststättengewerbe. Sie sind seit 2013 Premium-Mitglied bei Arabella. Welche Vorteile genießen Sie? World Cleanup Day

Creando lazos con la comunidad

on motivo de la celebración del World Cleanup Day, Arabella Golf Mallorca organizó una jornada de limpieza en el Parc Municipal de Son Muntaner, junto al bosque público situado al lado del hoyo 4 de Golf Son Muntaner, para contribuir a cuidar el medio ambiente. Durante más de dos horas, decenas de voluntarios quitaron más de 200 kilogramos de residuos. Esta acción se enmarca dentro del programa de sostenibilidad Green Evolution, de Arabella Golf Mallorca, en el que participaron empleados de los campos de golf. El movimiento World Cleanup Day consiste en una jornada reivindicativa que surgió hace 10 años en Estonia, cuando el 4% de la población del país se implicó en la recogida de basura en ríos, playas, montañas y parajes naturales. El director de Arabella Golf Mallorca, Bernat Llobera, agradeció a los voluntarios su asistencia y cooperación. “Me alegra que el equipo esté tan comprometido con el entorno cercano y el medio ambiente. Es una oportunidad de crear lazos con nuestra comunidad más allá del golf”.

REATING TIES WITH THE COMMUNITY. On the occasion of World Cleanup Day, Arabella Golf Mallorca organised a day of cleaning in the Son Muntaner Parc Municipal, beside the public woodland located next to hole 4 of Golf Son Muntaner, with the aim of contributing to cleaning up the environment. For over two hours dozens of volunteers removed more than 200 kilograms of waste. This action was framed within Arabella Golf Mallorca’s Green Evolution sustainability programme, in which employees from the golf courses. The World Cleanup Day consists of a day of action that

started 10 years ago in Estonia, when 4% of the country’s population became involved in picking up rubbish from rivers, beaches, mountains and nature spots. The director of Arabella Golf Mallorca, Bernat Llobera, thanked the volunteers for their attendance and cooperation. “I am pleased that the team is so committed to its close surroundings and the environment. This is an opportunity to create ties with our community above and beyond golf”.

EN ZUSAMMENHALT MIT DER GEMEINSCHAFT STÄRKEN. Anlässlich des World Cleanup Day hat Arabella Golf Mallorca einen Tag zur Säuberung des Stadtparks Son Muntaner organisiert, der sich am öffentlichen Wald an Loch 4 des Golfplatzes Son Muntaner befindet. Damit leistet das Unternehmen einen weiteren Beitrag zur Sanierung der Umwelt. Mehr als zwei Stunden lang sammelten Dutzende Freiwillige, darunter Mitarbeitende der Golfclubs, über 200 Kilogramm Abfall ein. Die Aktion gehört zum Programm für Nachhaltigkeit Green Evolution der Arabella Golf Mallorca. Die Bewegung World Cleanup Day wurde vor zehn Jahren in Estland ins Leben gerufen. Damals beteiligten sich vier Prozent der Bevölkerung an der Müllentsorgung an Stränden sowie in Flüssen, Bergen und Naturgebieten. Seitdem wird dieser Tag jedes Jahr begangen. Bernat Llobera, Direktor bei Arabella Golf Mallorca, dankte den freiwilligen Helfern für ihre Kooperationsbereitschaft: „Ich freue mich, dass das Team sich so für die nahe Umgebung und den Umweltschutz engagiert. Es ist für uns eine Möglichkeit, den Zusammenhalt mit der Gemeinschaft außerhalb des Golfsports zu stärken.“

Na Capitana

l llegar a la altura del hoyo 15 de Golf Son Muntaner, vale la pena detenerse a contemplar el maravilloso olivo Na Capitana, que con más de 1000 años de antigüedad y un perímetro de tronco de 9 metros. Este monumento viviente da nombre a nuestra marca de aceite Na Capitana, aceite extra virgen con denominación de origen “aceite de Mallorca”, prestigiosa distinción de calidad. Todas las etapas, desde la recolección y transporte de aceitunas hasta la elaboración, envasado y comercialización, son controladas y verificadas por La Conselleria de Agricultura. En la Cooperativa de Sóller se trituran las aceitunas y luego se centrifuga a baja presión la masa resultante para separar la parte líquida de la sólida. Nuevamente se realiza el proceso, pero a mayor presión con el objetivo de dividir el agua del aceite. Por último, se envasan en latas o cristal opaco, y cada envase se sella con una etiqueta numerada que certifica su calidad y origen.

A C APITANA OLIVE OIL . When you reach hole 15 at Golf Son Muntaner, it is well worth stopping a moment to take in the wonderful olive tree named Na Capitana which, at over 1,000 years old and with a trunk perimeter of 9 metres. This living monument lends its name to our oil brand, Na Capitana, virgin extra olive oil with the “Aceite de Mallorca” designation of origin, a prestigious seal of quality. Every stage, from harvesting and transporting of the olives to the production, bottling and commercialisation of the oil, are controlled and verified by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture. The olives are crushed at the Sóller Cooperative and the resulting paste is then centrifuged at a low pressure to separate the liquid from the solids. The process is repeated, but at a higher pressure in order to separate the water from the oil. Finally, the oil is poured into tins or opaque glass containers and each one is sealed with a numbered label that certifies its quality and origin.

LIVENBAUM NA CAPITANA. Auf der Höhe von Loch 15 auf dem Golfplatz Son Muntaner lohnt es sich, ein wenig zu verweilen und den mächtigen, über tausend Jahre alten Olivenbaum Na Capitana zu betrachten, dessen Stamm ganze neun Meter umfasst. Dieses lebende Monument ist der Namensgeber für unsere firmeneigene Olivenölmarke Na Capitana, ein kalt gepresstes Olivenöl mit der Ursprungsbezeichnung „Öl von Mallorca“ - ein renommiertes Qualitätsgütesiegel. Jede Phase der Herstellung, von der Ernte über den Transport der Oliven bis zur Verarbeitung, Abfüllung und Vermarktung, wird vom Balearischen Agrarministerium kontrolliert und überwacht. In der Genossenschaft Sóller werden die Oliven gemahlen und später unter geringem Druck in der Zentrifuge geschleudert, um feste und flüssige Bestandteile voneinander zu trennen. Anschließend werden in einem zweiten Schleudergang mit höherem Druck Wasser und Öl voneinander getrennt. Zum Schluss wird das Öl in Dosen oder lichtundurchlässigen Flaschen abgefüllt, wobei jede mit einem nummerierten Etikett versehen wird, das für die Qualität und Herkunft des Öls bürgt.

En este sentido, Arabella Golf Mallorca ha ideado un programa de 5 horas enfocado a mejorar la camaradería en los vínculos laborales. En la Natural Golf Management Academy, situada en Golf Son Muntaner, un profesor dará una clase de 2 horas a todos los componentes del grupo. Tras un coffee break en el restaurante, los miembros pondrán en practicar todo lo aprendido participando en una divertida competición de 9 hoyos en Golf Son Quint Pitch & Putt. Tras la entrega de premios al ganador y un recuerdo para cada participante, un almuerzo en Golf Son Muntaner servirá sin duda para pasar un buen rato comentando las experiencias vividas.

OLF FOR STRENGTHENING TEAMWORK. Any work team needs a break from time to time, in order to relax and strengthen the bonds between its members, and improve the group’s confidence and motivation. With this in mind, Arabella Golf Mallorca has devised a 5-hour programme focused on improving comradeship in work situations. At the Natural Golf Management Academy, located in Golf Son Muntaner, an instructor will give a 2-hour lesson to all the members of the group. After a coffee break in the restaurant,

the members will start practising all they have learned by taking part in a fun contest played over 9 holes at Golf Son Quint Pitch & Putt. After the ceremony to award a prize to the winner and a memento to each participant, a lunch at Golf Son Muntaner will doubtless ensure everyone has a great time talking about their shared experiences.

“Un campo de golf puede ser un paraíso para los animales” C

on su sensibilidad y paciencia, el fotógrafo Pius Notter ha pasado unas jornadas en Golf Son Muntaner, obteniendo preciosos retratos de algunas de las aves que viven en el entorno del campo. “Hay quien todavía piensa que los campos de golf destruyen la Naturaleza. Con mis fotos quiero demostrar que es todo lo contario”, afirma. ¿Cuándo empezó su pasión para la naturaleza y las aves? La naturaleza y los animales me han interesado desde niño. Por eso me hice diseñador profesional de bonsáis. He escrito siete libros sobre bonsáis, y otras personas han publicado dos libros más sobre mi obra. En el año 2000, me convertí en el primer –y hasta ahora el único– occidental en ganar el concurso mundial de bonsáis en Japón. En 2008 compré una cámara nueva y pasé unas cuantas semanas de vaca-

ciones en las zonas silvestres de Sudáfrica, donde desarrollé un interés especial en fotografiar las aves. ¡Pero todavía solo es un hobby para mí! ¿Cuáles son los secretos para sacar unas fotos tan maravillosas? Para mí es muy emocionante el tiempo de espera de las aves en entornos naturales, hasta que puedo sacar una foto especial. La fotografía de aves es la más difícil, porque requiere muchísima paciencia y tienes que saber mucho sobre el hábitat y el comportamiento de los pájaros. Además, tienes que entender todas las posibilidades técnicas de tu máquina de fotos. A veces he tenido que esperar varias horas para obtener algunas imágenes. Y encontrar algunas aves puede llevar años. Ha viajado alrededor del mundo para tomar algunas fotografías. ¿Cuál es el lugar que más le ha impresionado? Viajo habitualmente a Cos-

ta Rica, a varios países africanos, y a Japón. Y también a diferentes países europeos, naturalmente, como España, Noruega e Islandia. Costa Rica es el país con más biodiversidad, cuenta con aves preciosas y una gran organización para los observadores de aves. ¿Cómo ha sido su experiencia de sacar fotografías de las aves en Golf Son Muntaner? Yo no soy golfista, pero visito Golf Son Muntaner regularmente por otra razón: el olivo milenario Na Capitana, que figura en el logo del campo de golf. Durante estas visitas me di cuenta de que hay muchísimas aves diferentes e interesantes que habitan en este campo. Algunas personas creen que los campos de golf destruyen la naturaleza, pero con mis fotos me gusta demostrar que un buen campo de golf puede ser un paraíso para los animales, especialmente las aves, y también para los árboles antiguos y preciosos.

When did your passion for Nature and birds start? Ever since I was a child, I have been very interested in nature and animals. As a result, I became a professional Bonsai designer. I have written seven different books about Bonsais, and two other books have been published about my work by other people. In the year 2000, as the first - and until now the only - designer from the western world, I won the world Bonsai contest in Japan. In 2008 I bought a new camera and spent a few weeks holidaying in the wilderness of South Africa, where I became especially interested in photographing birds. But it is still only a hobby for me! What are the secrets to taking such marvellous pictures? For me, it is very exciting to wait for special birds in a natural setting, so as to take special pictures. Bird photography is the most difficult kind of photography, because it requires a great deal of patience and you have to know a lot about the habitat and behaviour of the birds. In addition to this, you also have to understand all the technical possibilities of your camera. For some pictures, I had to wait several hours. And it can take several years to find some birds. You have travelled around the world to take some of your pictures. What place has impressed you the most? I travel regularly to Costa Rica, and several countries in Africa, and to Japan. Also different countries in Europe of course, like Spain, Norway and Iceland. Costa Rica is the country with the greatest biodiversity - beautiful birds and very well organized for bird watchers. How was your experience of taking pictures of birds at Golf Son Muntaner? I am not a golfer, but I visit Golf Son Muntaner regularly for another reason: the very old olive tree, Na Capitana, which is on the logo of this golf course. During these visits, I realized that there are many different, interesting birds in these golfing areas. Some people think golf courses destroy nature, but with my pictures I like to show that a good golf course can be a paradise for animals, especially birds, and also for beautiful old trees.

dass Golfplätze die Natur zerstören. Mit meinen Bildern möchte ich zeigen, dass das genaue Gegenteil der Fall ist“, betont er. Wie entdeckten Sie Ihre Leidenschaft für die Natur und die Vogelwelt? Schon als Kind habe ich mich für Natur und Tiere interessiert. Aus diesem Grund wurde ich professioneller Bonsai-Designer. Ich selbst habe sieben Bücher über Bonsais verfasst, andere Autoren haben zwei Bücher über mein Werk geschrieben. Im Jahr 2000 war ich der erste und bisher einzige Vertreter der westlichen Welt, der die Bonsai-Weltmeisterschaft in Japan gewann. 2008 kaufte ich eine neue Kamera und verbrachte einige Urlaubswochen in der Wildnis Südafrikas. Dort begeisterte ich mich für Aufnahmen der Vogelwelt, aber noch ist dies nur ein Hobby für mich! Wie macht man solch wunderschöne Bilder? Verraten Sie uns Ihr Geheimnis? Für mich ist die Wartezeit in der natürlichen Umgebung der Vögel immer sehr bewegend. Bis ich das besondere Foto schießen kann. Vögel zu fotografieren ist sehr schwierig, man braucht außerordentliche Geduld, muss viel über Lebensraum und Gewohnheiten der Vögel wissen. Darüber hinaus sollte man sämtliche technischen Möglichkeiten kennen, über die die Kamera verfügt. Manchmal habe ich Stunden gewartet, bis ich eine Aufnahme machen konnte, manchmal dauert es Jahre, eine bestimmte Vogelart zu finden. Für einige Ihrer Fotos sind Sie um die Welt gereist. Welcher Ort hat Sie am meisten beeindruckt? Üblicherweise reise ich nach Costa Rica oder Japan sowie in einige afrikanische oder europäische Länder, u.a. Spanien, Norwegen und Island. Costa Rica ist das Land mit der größten Artenvielfalt. Hier leben wunderschöne Vogelarten und die Bedingungen für Ornithologen sind hervorragend. Wie war Ihre Erfahrung mit den Vogelaufnahmen auf dem Golfplatz Son Muntaner? Ich bin kein Golfspieler, sondern komme aus einem anderen Grund regelmäßig hierher: dem Olivenbaum Na Capitana, der auch im Logo des Golfplatzes zu sehen ist. Während meiner Besuche bemerkte ich, dass hier zahlreiche unterschiedliche interessante Vogelarten leben. Manche Leute glauben, dass Golfplätze die Natur zerstören. Mit meinen Bildern möchte ich zeigen, dass ein gut geführter Golfplatz ein Tierparadies sein kann, vor allem für Vögel, und natürlich auch für alte, großartige Bäume.

os jugadores de Arabella Golf Mallorca han demostrado sus habilidades acertando varios hole in one en los últimos meses. El 17 de junio, en Golf Son Muntaner, Malin Strandvik celebró su golpe certero hacia el hoyo 11. El 8 de julio, en el mismo campo, Bernardino Font Hernández pudo festejar su hole in one en el hoyo 13. Casualidad, suerte o destino, el hoyo 4 de Golf Son Vida fue el que dio más alegrías. El 19 de junio, Petra Himmighofer tuvo su premio, y el 30 de octubre, Sabine Müller afinó su puntería en una jornada que siempre recordará.

On 17th June, at Golf Son Muntaner, Malin Strandvik celebrated a winning stroke into hole 11. On 8th July, on the same course, Bernardino Font Hernández had to wait until hole 13 to fête his hole in one. Whether from coincidence, luck or fate, it was hole 4 of Golf Son Vida that produced the most joy. On 19th June, Petra Himmighofer won her prize, and on 30th October, Sabine Müller polished her aim ona day she will remember forever.

l golfista italiano Francesco Laporta ganó la última prueba del ‘Road to Mallorca’ que se disputó en el Club de Golf Alcanada y conquistó además el European Challenge Tour. A lo largo del torneo, el italiano fue muy regular siendo líder desde el primer día.

Italian golfer Francesco Laporta won the final round of the ‘Road to Mallorca’ which was held at Club de Golf Alcanada, and was also victorious in the European Challenge Tour. n Son Muntaner Event Center, The Arts Society Mallorca exhibirá por primera vez pinturas, fotografías y esculturas de sus miembros el próximo 17 de enero. “Golf Son Muntaner es un lugar ideal para este importante evento. Es accesible, tiene una maravillosa sala de exposiciones bien iluminada y excelentes instalaciones”, afirma Tim Robinson, presidente de Arts Society Mallorca.

OR THE LOVE OF ART. In Son Muntaner Event Center, for the first time ever, The Arts Society Mallorca will be exhibiting paintings, photographs and sculptures by its members on 17 th January. “Golf Son Muntaner is the perfect place for this important event. It is accessible; it has a wonderful, well-lit exhibition room and excellent installations”, says Tim Robinson, president of the Arts Society Mallorca.

US LIEBE ZUR KUNST. Zum ersten Mal zeigt The Arts Society Mallorca am 17. Más sonrisas en Uganda

on el dinero recaudado en el Torneo Solidario de Son Rapinya y como parte de nuestro programa 12 Bajo Par, en octubre se ha podido comprar un terreno de 16.000 m2 de tierra fértil en Kalungo, Uganda, donde se han sembrado maíz y alubias que aportarán nutrientes a más de 40 niños. La iniciativa, realizada en conjunto con la Asociación Sonrisas Menudas en el Mundo, ONG del mes de marzo, fue posible gracias al aporte solidario de 1 euro por cada jugador de Arabella Golf Mallorca y a la rifa solidaria del Torneo Son Rapinya. Ines Johne, fundadora de la ONG, prevé que con este nuevo proyecto se podrá escolarizar a unos 100 niños en situación de extrema pobreza de entre 2 y 6 años en una guardería donde recibirán cuidados, educación y comida nutritiva.

Mit dem beim Solidaritätsturnier in Son Rapinya eingenommenen Geldern haben wir im Rahmen unseres Programms 12 Unter Par im Oktober ein 16.000 Quadratmeter großes Grundstück fruchtbarer Erde im ugandischen Kalungo erworben, wo Mais und Bohnen angepflanzt werden, die die gesunde Ernährung von über 40 Kindern sichern. Das Projekt wurde zusammen mit der NGO Sonrisas Menudas en el Mundo durchgeführt (die NGO präsentierte sich im März bei 12 Unter Par) und dank der Spenden von je einem Euro durch die Spieler auf den Plätzen der Arabella Golf Mallorca sowie einer Solidaritätstombola beim Golfturnier in Son Rapinya ermöglicht. Ines Johne, Gründerin der NGO, plant mit diesem neuen Projekt etwa 100 Kindern extremer Armut zwischen 2 und 6 Jahren in einem Kindergarten einzuschulen, wo sie betreut, unterrichtet und mit nahrhaften Lebensmitteln versorgt werden.
