FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2011 International Photography Awards announces winners of the competition Dutch photographer Marsel van Oosten won 1st Prize in the Nature - Wildlife category for his series "Japanese macaques", for which he was also awarded the title Nature Photographer of the Year 2011. In addition, he won 2nd place in the People - Culture category for his winning entry "Libya", and he received a total of seven Honorable Mentions. As a main category winner, Van Oosten will compete for IPA's top award of International Photographer of the Year. The finalists will be invited to attend the Lucie Awards at the Lincoln Center, New York, where one photographer will be announced as the grand winner, earning the coveted Lucie Statue and a cash prize of $10,000.

About the winner: Marsel van Oosten is a professional nature photographer from The Netherlands. His images are most known for composition, lighting, color and perspective. In his work he tries to simplify, to get rid of the extraneous: Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. In addition to winning the title Nature Photographer of the Year, his awards include three First Prizes in previous editions of the International Photography Awards, First Prize in the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, First Prize in Natures Best International Photography Awards, and Second Prize in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition.
