María Félix was born in the Mexican state of Sonora on the 8th of April of 1914, and made her debut in 1942 with the movie “El Peñón de las Ánimas”. She worked with legendary directors like Emilio Fernández, Jean Renoir, and Luis Buñuel.

Gran Vía La tercera boutique de Gran Vía abrió sus puertas en el centro comercial de Puerto Cancún. En punto de las 7:00 p.m. empezaron a llegar invitados, medios, influencers y socialités de la ciudad. La apertura estuvo acompañada de canapés, DJ en vivo y cocteles de la casa. De parte de Gran Vía, Carlos Calderón, Alisa Lanczyner, Michelle Pell y Pilar Muñoz dieron la bienvenida a los invitados. l término ROI proviene del inglés Return of Investment, que en términos generales es el índice de rentabilidad de una inversión. En el ramo inmobiliario, el ROI se calcula según la tasa de retorno que un bien inmueble puede generar en plusvalía o en ingresos generados por su explotación. La plusvalía se determina tanto por factores tangibles propios del producto, tales como ubicación, amenidades, servicios, grupo desarrollador, como intangibles, que pueden ser el crecimiento de la zona, la oferta de servicios alrededor y la infraestructura a nivel urbano. ¿Cómo se puede invertir en un desarrollo que tenga el más alto ROI? Primero que nada, no es necesario ser un experto para entender conceptos básicos que determinan qué proyectos tienen la capacidad de generar un buen ROI. Estos componentes son tres: ubicación, proximidad a puntos de interés y servicios. he term ROI stands for Return of Investment, which generally speaking is the profitability index of an investment. In real estate, ROI gets calculated according to the rate of return a property can generate in terms of either capital gains or income for usage. Capital gain gets determined by tangible factors, such as location, amenities, services, developer, and intangible factors, which can be the growth rate of the area, services available in the zone, and urban infrastructure. How can you invest in a development with the highest ROI? First of all, you don’t need to be an expert to understand the basic concepts that will tell you which projects have the potential to generate a substantial ROI. You have to look for three components: location, proximity to points of interest, and services. Location is crucial since in properties in holiday destinations are cataloged according to where they are. For instance, properties in new residential areas surrounded by other new residential areas, close to points of interest, such as bars, restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, and of course, the beach. These factors define the market value of the property

on motivo del reciente incendio en la Reserva de la Biósfera de Sian Ka’an, que ha consumió más de 2,500 hectáreas de selva y afectó gravemente a la fauna que la habita, el chef Juan Pablo Loza, director de operaciones culinarias de Rosewood Mayakoba, ofreció una cena en conjunto con ocho chefs locales para transmitir un mensaje que genere conciencia sobre la responsabilidad en torno al cuidado y protección del medio ambiente. El total de los fondos recaudados fueron donados a la Asociación Amigos de Sian Ka’an para apoyar las prácticas que fomenten la recuperación de la biósfera. Es así como el chef Loza ha reunido a ocho chefs de Riviera Maya y Tulum que comparten su misma visión de cocinar con un enfoque sustentable. La causa del lamentable incendio está relacionada con la caza furtiva del Venado Salvaje, y una de las iniciativas es de erradicar su consumo irresponsable y eliminarlo de los menús de restaurantes y hoteles para no generar una demanda insostenible. La iniciativa también comprende no comprar carne de caza que no provenga de sitios autorizados y verificados. n the occasion of the recent fire, which devastated more than 2,500 hectares of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and caused severe damages in the wildlife, Chef Juan Pablo Loza, director of culinary operations of Rosewood Mayakoba, offered a dinner along with eight local chefs to transmit a message aimed to generate awareness on the responsibility towards the protection of the environment. All the funds collected were donated to the Association Friends of Sian Ka’an to support practices that promote the recuperation of the biosphere. Chef Loza brought together eight chefs of the Riviera Maya and Tulum, who share the vision of cooking from a sustainable perspective. The cause of this tragic fire is related to the poaching of the Wild Deer. The initiative pretends to eradicate the excessive consumption of the meat of this animal by eliminating it from the menus of their hotels and restaurants and includes not purchasing any game meat of nonauthorized and verified suppliers. The dinner Friend Chefs of Sian Ka’an took place at Aquí Me Quedo, the beach club at Rosewood. The participant chefs were Xavier Pérez Stone from Axiote; Pedro Abascal from Primo; Jorge Ildefonso from Pía, Cocina Libre, Orlando Trejo from Hotel Xcaret; César

Amigos de Sian Ka’an es una Asociación Civil sin fines lucrativos que desde hace 33 años trabaja en la conservación del medio ambiente y la diversidad en la zona. Dentro de sus esfuerzos, resalta haber conseguido el decreto de 14 áreas naturales protegidas, con lo que se garantiza la conservación de más de 1,200,000 hectáreas de selvas, humedales y ambientes marinos. Los incendios forestales han impactado Sian Ka’an en el pasado, por lo que la organización centra sus esfuerzos en impulsar acciones de ciudadanos y gobierno para continuar con actividades que permitan reducir las amenazas que ponen en riesgo los tesoros naturales de la Riviera Maya.

All the chefs prepared and original creation, inspired by the region and the local ingredients they obtained from suppliers who follow sustainable practices. The creations included dished based on meat, seafood, as well as vegetarian alternatives, served in food stations within an atmosphere of solidarity and love for Mexico and its natural resources. Friends of Sian Ka’an is a non-profit Civil Association that has worked for more than 33 years for the conservation of the region’s environment and diversity. As part of its efforts, the association secured a decree that protects 14 natural areas, which guarantees the conservation of more than 1,200,000 hectares of jungle, wetlands, and marine environments. The forest fires have affected Sian Ka’an in the past, and this is why the organization focuses its efforts on joint actions, where both the civil society and the authorities carry out activities based on education and environmental culture aimed to mitigate the threats to the natural treasures of the Riviera Maya. Queso Relleno Para muchos historiadores y especialistas gastronómicos, el queso relleno es la máxima expresión del mestizaje cultural de la región. Existen muchas historias sobre el origen del queso relleno, de entre las cuales hay una que cuenta que en tiempos de la Guerra de Castas, los soldados acuartelados en Bacalar acostumbraban comer queso holandés que llegaban desde Guyana a través de Belice. En una ocasión, encontraron una pieza de estos quesos a la que los ratones habían semidevorado. En lugar de tirar la pieza, los soldados decidieron horadarla hasta que sólo quedó la cáscara, que más tarde una cocinera rellenó con pescado y tomate. Aunque existe un debate en torno a si este plato es originario de Quintana Roo o de Yucatán, es muy claro que las enormes bolas de queso Edam, que constituyen el componente crucial sin el cual la receta jamás habría podido existir, llegaron a la Península de Yucatán desde el puerto de Chetumal. El Queso Relleno, tal y como lo conocemos hoy en día, es una bola de queso Edam ahuecada, que se rellena con un picadillo de carne de res o cerdo cocinado con ingredientes como tomate, ajo, cebolla, aceitunas, hierbas de olor, entre otros. Una vez relleno, el queso se hornea y se sirve bañado en salsa de tomate y en una salsa blanca conocida localmente como kol.

For many historians and culinary specialists, the Queso Relleno is the ultimate expression of the cultural mix of the region. Among the many stories about its origins, one tells us that in the times of the Caste War of Yucatan, the soldiers quartered in Bacalar would eat Dutch cheese introduced to Mexico through Belize. One day, they found a piece of cheese that mice had half-devoured. Instead of throwing it away, the soldiers carved it until the shell was the only thing left. Later on, a cook stuffed it with fish and tomato and baked it. Whether this dish is originally from Quintana Roo or Yucatan is still a matter of debate. However, it is clear that the balls of Edam cheese, a component without which the recipe had never existed, arrived in the Yucatan Peninsula from the port of Chetumal. The Queso Relleno consists of a ball of Edam cheese stuffed with ground meat cooked with tomato, garlic, onion, olives, fine herbs, and other ingredients. The cheese ball is baked and served bathed in tomato sauce and a white sauce locally known as Kol.

Tikin-Xic Sin duda una de las delicias gastronómicas más representativas del Caribe Mexicano, y muy especialmente de Isla Mujeres. El broche de oro perfecto para jornada en alta mar o un día descanso en la playa es este exquisito platillo, que fusiona la frescura de los ingredientes del mar con los sabores clásicos y distintivos de la Península de Yucatán. El Tikin-Xic es un pescado entero recién salido del mar, usualmente de carne blanca, abierto en forma de libro, que se deja marinar en una pasta cuyo ingrediente principal es el achiote, un condimento que se utiliza desde la época prehispánica, y que también contiene chiles, jugo de naranja agria y otras especias. El pescado se cubre con rodajas de cebolla, tomate y pimiento, se envuelve en hojas de plátano y se cocina a las brasas. El resultado es un auténtico manjar que sólo encontrarás en nuestro destino, y que puedes probar tanto en su forma original, muy relajada y casual para un banquete a la orilla del mar, o servido en una presentación elegante y sofisticada en alguno de los muchos restaurantes de alta cocina mexicana de Cancún o la Riviera Maya.

Conch Ceviche El ceviche de caracol es el platillo más tradicional de la cocina quintanarroense. Aunque en la gastronomía mexicana existe una variedad casi infinita de tipos de ceviche, el ingrediente principal de la receta tradicional del estado es el caracol rosado, que crece en las costas del Caribe Mexicano. Con el fin de proteger a la especie, que crece solamente en nuestras aguas, la captura del caracol rosado está en veda durante una muy buena parte del año. Sin embargo, vale la pena mencionar este plato al ser uno de los más representativos de nuestro estado. La preparación del ceviche de caracol es muy sencilla: el caracol se golpea con fuerza para que su carne se ablande, y después se marina en limón. Se sirve con cebolla, tomates, chiles y cilantro picado y se acompaña con galletas saladas y también se puede combinar con otras delicias del mar, como camarones, pulpo u ostras. La simplicidad de este plato resalta el delicado sabor del caracol originario de nuestras aguas y es ideal para disfrutarse en un caluroso día de verano.

Con la genuina intención de seguir mostrando un México auténtico y maravilloso, trabajamos en coordinación con la Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (CONANP) y con el Instituto Nacional de Pesca (INAPESCA) en un programa auspiciado por el Gobierno del Estado de Quintana Roo en la restauración del Sistema Arrecifal Mesoamericano (SAM), el cual se extiende a lo largo de las costas caribeñas de México, Belice, Guatemala y Honduras, conformando la barrera coralina más grande del Océano Atlántico y del Continente Americano. A pesar de que este sistema arrecifal es de gran importancia para la comunidad en general, hoy se encuentra bajo riesgo por diversas amenazas, es por ello que Alltournative trabaja de la mano con las autoridades locales en la recuperación de los arrecifes dañados con base en diversas técnicas de restauración, tal es el caso del vivero de coral creado en la zona marítima de Puerto Morelos y que permite la reproducción de los corales con el objetivo de repoblar las zonas que presentan degradación.

It is important to point out that Alltournative is a national reference on sustainability. Taking care of the environment is our top priority, and one of our guiding principles. With the genuine purpose of showing an authentic and wonderful Mexico, we work with the National Commission on Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), and the National Fishery Institute (INAPESCA) in a program sponsored by the Government of Quintana Roo aimed to restore the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MAR), which extends over the Caribbean shores of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System is the largest coral barrier of the Atlantic Ocean and the American Continent. Although this reef system is of paramount importance for the community, today is under threat. Alltournative works handin-hand with the local authorities to recuperate the damaged coral reefs. For this purpose, we are applying several techniques, such as the creation of a coral incubator, created in the shores of Puerto Morelos. This project allows the reproduction of coral, and its main purpose is to repopulate the depleted areas.

Esperamos que iniciativas como ésta motiven a más organizaciones a sumarse a la labor del cuidado y protección del medio ambiente, lo que en nuestros días debe sin duda ser una prioridad para todos los niveles de gobierno y para sociedad civil en general.

Contoy “El camino más corto al paraíso” “The shortest path to paradise ”

ontoy se localiza al norte de Isla Mujeres y uno de los santuarios de aves y vida silvestre más importantes del Caribe Mexicano, un auténtico tesoro de biodiversidad que se mantiene virgen a lo largo de casi toda su extensión. Sólo unas cuantas estructuras para recibir a los visitantes, el museo y la torre de observación nos recuerdan que seguimos estando cerca de la civilización. Isla Contoy fue declarada área natural protegida en 1961, y gracias a ese decreto es que ha sido intocada a pesar del tremendo desarrollo turístico que ha experimentado la mayor parte del territorio costero de Quintana Roo. Contoy está vetada al turismo masivo, aunque posible realizar tours de un día, sin embargo, el número de visitantes por día está limitado a 200, así que si estás de vacaciones en Cancún o la Riviera Maya y eres un verdadero amante de la naturaleza, debes reservar tu excursión a Contoy con anticipación, ya que es un lugar que por ningún motivo debes perderte.

ontoy is an island located north from Isla Mujeres and one of the Mexican Caribbean’s main bird and wildlife sanctuaries. The island is an authentic biodiversity treasure that is still virgin along most if its extension. Only a few structures aimed to receive visitors, the museum, and the watchtower, remind us that human civilization is near. In 1961, Contoy Island was declared a natural protected area. Thanks to this decree, the island has remained untouched despite the tremendous touristic development that most of the coastal territory of the state of Quintana Roo has experienced. Although Contoy is banned to mass tourism, it is possible to take one-day excursions; however, the limit of visitors per day is 200. If you are vacationing in Cancun or the Riviera Maya and consider yourself as a true nature lover, you must book your trip to Contoy in advance. This island is a place you should not miss for any reason.

Isla Contoy, también conocida como “Isla de los Pájaros”, alberga en sus 8.75 kilómetros de extensión más de 98 especies de plantas, y gracias a que no está permitido ningún tipo de desarrollo urbano, dunas costeras y manglares cubren más del 70% de la superficie de la isla. Este paraíso, que cautivó al legendario explorador Jacques-Yves Cousteau, acoge 152 especies de aves marinas, como fragatas, cormoranes, pelícanos y golondrinas y 14 especies de reptiles, entre los que se incluyen varias especies de tortugas marinas que llegan a desovar a este santuario. En las aguas de Contoy confluyen más de 200 especies de peces y otras formas de vida marina. Los visitantes que tienen la fortuna de practicar buceo o snorkel en las cristalinas aguas de Contoy pueden admirar distintas y hermosas especies de coral, peces tropicales de colores casi imposibles, y grandes especies, como la mantarraya y el majestuoso tiburón ballena.

Also known as the Island of the Birds, Contoy fosters more than 98 plant species in its 8.75 km territory. Since it is not permitted to build urban developments of any kind, coastal dunes and mangroves cover more than 70% of the island’s surface. This paradise, which captivated the legendary explorer JacquesYves Cousteau, is home of 152 species of sea birds, such as frigates, cormorants, pelicans, and swallows, as well as 14 species of reptiles, including several species of turtles that arrive at this sanctuary to lay their nests. The waters of Contoy are the shelter of more than 200 species of fish and other forms of marine life. The visitors who have the fortune of snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear sea of Contoy admire a wide diversity of gorgeous species of coral, tropical fish of unbelievable colors, and large species, like the manta ray and the majestic whale shark.

La travesía a Contoy desde Cancún o Isla Mujeres dura aproximadamente una hora y media. Además de sus actividades acuáticas, también puedes recorrer los dos senderos interpretativos para admirar la flora y la fauna del lugar, subir a la torre de observación, o comer un delicioso pescado tikin-xic en alguna de las dos palapas-comedor. Con el fin de respetar el medio ambiente y conservar el ecosistema, el uso de bloqueadores solares está estrictamente prohibido, ya que sus componentes químicos dañan los delicados organismos coralinos. Se recomienda vestir prendas de algodón de manga larga y usar sombrero. También puedes proteger tu piel con alguna alternativa ecológica, como aceite de coco de calidad orgánica o algún protector solar elaborado con ingredientes naturales y biodegradables.

The trip to Contoy from Cancun or Isla Mujeres lasts approximately one and a half hours. In addition to the water activities, you can walk down the two interpretative trails to admire the local flora and fauna, climb the watchtower, or eat a delicious tikin-xic fish in one of the two dining palapas. It is strictly banned to use sunscreen to respect the environment and preserve the ecosystem since its chemical components damage the fragile coralline organisms. The recommendation is to dress long-sleeve cotton garments and wear a hat. You can also protect your skin with an eco-friendly alternative, such as organic coconut oil or sunscreen made of natural and biodegradable ingredients.
