NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP For beauty junkies, putting on a face and getting to play with your makeup can be the perk-up you need to jumpstart the morning. For the lazy type, anything that’s quick to slap on is more than good enough. But let’s face it, when you’re meeting with different people, you need to put in some effort in the way you look even though the look you’re going for is effortless chic. So for those who just want a fuss-free face to show at work, here’s a quick how-to on how you can get that no makeup look with just seven items in your vanity kit.

WAYS TO TAKE YOUR ROUTINE FROM SUMMER INTO
It’s
time to transition your go-to look for the coming season. That means tucking away your mega-bright lipsticks and lightweight creams for products that are altogether richer and more sumptuous. Here, we break down your routine, so you can get started today.
Neutral Territory
Say goodbye to summer’s crisp whites and ballet pinks: The new neutral polishes for this season have a decidedly darker mood. This year’s mushroom shade is tinged with smoky purple compared to the dove gray hues of last year, navy blues are so dark they read black, and moss green paints have a slight gray cast so they look earthy, not militant. 12 insight
Colossal Curls
Summer’s beachy waves are becoming inflated for fall with the fullest and fluffiest of curls. To get the hair look of the season as seen on the runways, start by blasting damp roots with a volumizing mousse, then blow-dry hair upside down to build up bulk. Curl small sections with a three-quarter-inch curling iron for tight spirals. Finally, backbrush the hair with a boar bristle brush to achieve bouncy heft.
AYS TO TAKE YOUR
Orient Express
Get ready to switch up your Eau de Apricot in favor of October’s spicier scents. What makes these fragrances new this year is that they are tempered with florals galore for a more wearable assortment. Tom Ford’s Fleur de Chine showcases Asian fauna, including hua lan flower and star magnolia for a rather haunting and robust olfactory experience. Meanwhile, Boucheron’s Place Vendôme features orange blossom, rose, peony, and jasmine for a creamy-textured floriental. And finally, Roberto Cavalli’s eau spotlights fresh orange blossom and sexy benzoin for an irresistibly feminine and sensual result.
Mind Over Matte
Summer’s golden glow is giving way to shine-free skin for the upcoming season. This year, matte faces get updated with more translucent formulas that still allow the complexion to peek through. The result? Foundations, powders, and mousses that lend a more natural and less flat look, while still boasting a posh velvety finish.
In the Thick of It
Just as your face requires deeper hydration for the change in seasons, so does your body. Switch your lightweight lotions for one with a thicker and more potent texture instead. La Mer’s butter saturates skin in a wave of moisture that leaves it feeling silky to the touch, the ever-popular Creme de Corps from Kiehl’s quenches dehydrated skin and restores its suppleness, and Olay’s Ultra Moisture Lotion rids scaly dryness in just one use.
Cream of the Crop
The coming season’s cooler temperatures require a heartier skin routine to keep your face adequately moisturized. That means trading in your gel and foam cleansers for a creamier formula. These three face washes all hit the mark with lush textures that produce skin-coddling effects. We promise none of them will leave your complexion with any filmy residue, either.
Seeing Red “Goodbye to Summer’s Crisp Whites & Ballet Pinks”
Stash away your current smoky bronze and charcoal shadows for autumn’s newest sultry eye hue: crimson. As seen on the runways, a smoldering gaze becomes instantly updated in shades of cranberry, garnet, and russet. Swipe Chanel’s Ebloui cream shadow over lids and slightly above creases for a shimmery flash of maroon, or use M.A.C’s Mauveless shadow for a subtler, more matte veil of color. Otherwise, Estée Lauder’s Enchanted Berries palette has enough monochromatic hues for a complete eye look that you can take from day to night.
1
DOUBLE UP ON FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables can give you a healthy, vital glow. A study found that people who ate a lot of colorful products were perceived as being healthier and more attractive (seriously!). One reason is that the carotenoidcontaining fruits and vegetables (e.g: carrots, pumpkin, red peppers, squash) boost the skin’s yellow, red and orange tones. People who ate a lot of vitamin C, in particular, were less prone to wrinkles and dry, scaly skin (possibly because the nutrient promotes the production of collagen). Think you’re doing just fine in the, erm, produce department? 4.5 cups a day of fruit and vegetables and says that the average woman consumes only around two and a half cups.
2
DO THIS ONLY TWICE A DAY
Most women wash their face three to four times a day, but studies show that twice a day is optimal. The more you wash, the more likely you are to strip your skin of natural oils. Some of the exfoliating particles found in scrubs (like pieces of fruit pits) can cause microscopic scratches on the skin. And micro-beads that are gentler on the face can be bad for us in other ways (they’ve recently been found to pollute the ocean, and increasingly, the Great Lakes and may boost the level of toxins in the fish we eat. A washcloth does a fine job at sloughing off dead skin cells, dirt and makeup.

things every woman
NEEDS TO DO FOR HER
SKIN Consider this your ultimate to-do list for healthier, more beautiful skin. The bad news: These are non-negotiable. The good news: They’re easy!
3
CHOOSE THE LEAST-POPULAR SLEEP POSITION
Not a lot of people sleep on their back even though it’s the best way to prevent sleep wrinkles. Sleeping on the side or on the stomach (done by 63 percent and 16 percent of us, respectively) has been shown to cause wrinkles on the parts of the face pressed into the pillow. If you can’t sleep on your back because you have a snoring problem, sleep apnea, bad knees, a bad back or a too snugly partner, consider a silk pillowcase or a special pillow with a cutout for your face. 14 insight
4
SHOW YOUR DÉCOLLETAGE SOME TLC
Every dermatologist say that the worst, most noticeable sun damage they see on women is on the chest. Any time you’re outside in a top that exposes your chest (which is probably more often than you realize), bring your sunscreen down to the bra line. And if you use moisturizer or other treatment for your face, consider using it on your neck and chest, as well.
5
DON’T WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT WEARING ENOUGH SUNSCREEN UNDER YOUR EYES
This sounds blasphemous, but the skin under the eye tends to be very thin and sensitive, so while it is prone to sun damage, it’s also susceptible to irritation from the product’s ingredients. You’re better off getting a pair of large sunglasses—think Jackie O and wearing them everywhere. Note: They must specify 99 to 100 percent UV protection (if they just say “UV protection,” without a percentage, they probably don’t screen much at all).

SECRET BENEFITS OF TEA
We have all heard the typical rumours and murmurings that tea can do wonders for your health. While we know it makes us feel better when our throat hurts or we’ve got a cough, we’re not exactly sure what it’s actually doing for us – and aside from the fact that it warms our fingers (and our insides!) We figured it was time to find out what benefits we’re really gaining from drinking all of this tea. Below, we’ve broken down the most popular varieties of tea and what they can do for your health, simply by sipping on them. Find your favorite flavor and pick up a cup today.
OOLONG TEA:
This form of tea can actually help boost your metabolism, promoting weight loss. It has a unique antioxidant and caffeine combo that raises your metabolism for up to 2 hours after drinking it, with studies showing that it has led to sustained weight loss and a smaller waist size after drinking.
WHITE TEA:
White tea is also known for helping with weight loss, and is less processed than many other forms of tea. The polyphenols in white tea, which are a type of antioxidant, are extra potent because of this. It also contains ECGC, an antioxidant that helps to prevent new fat cells from forming and fights the signs of aging. Research has also shown that it may protect against colon cancer.
PASSIONFLOWER TEA:
This tea contains an ingredient called flavone chrysin, which has anti-anxiety benefits – overstressed workers take note! It’s a great choice to brew before bed to try to calm your mind.
BLACK TEA:
Black tea can help keep your breath smelling fresh due to its polyphenols (powerful antioxidants) that stop plaque from sticking to your teeth. Black tea can also help belly fat from forming before it starts, and the polysaccharides in black tea may have glucose-inhibiting properties – which in turn may prevent diabetes.
GREEN TEA:
The reason everyone raves about green tea is because it has multiple benefits for your overall health. It has a phytonutrient called EGCG that increases a hormone responsible for the feeling of satiation (or feeling full). That same phytonutrient also is effective in fighting cancer, and studies have shown that it may prevent the onset of dementia.
GINGER TEA:
Ginger is a terrific anti-inflammatory agent, so this tea works well if you feel a headache coming on. Ginger works to calm the chemical messengers that cause a slight swelling in the brain, reducing the inflammation in about the same time as popping an aspirin.
PEPPERMINT TEA:
Anytime you have an upset stomach, sip on peppermint tea. It can calm your digestive system, and is known to relieve constipation.
CHAMOMILE TEA:
The antioxidants in chamomile tea may help prevent complications from diabetes, like vision loss or kidney damage, as well as stunt the growth of cancer cells. It can also help to soothe an upset stomach and promote sleep by soothing your nervous system. 20 insight

THINK,
BE A
PIONEER W
hen we think about pioneers one can think about a lot of different people throughout history. More notably are the actual pioneers who crossed the plains and mountains of the western United States in the 1800’s in search of freedom and opportunity in the West. Their stories of perseverance are inspirational and help us to put our own struggles into perspective. Each and every one of us can be a pioneer. We each have struggles and aspirations that can cause us great pain and heartache. The moment where we decide to take that first step, and begin the journey to cross that great plain of uncertainty before us; is the moment we all become pioneers. But what defines one as a pioneer? There is no model or process that could be extracted from the lives of these pioneers, to help us in our own struggles, but also to help us as leaders to create greater dents in this world. There are 5 traits that are essential for our own pioneering success, and thinking about any great leaders, these traits also matched closely to how they operated. 1.A Robust Vision In The Outcome – You have to believe so strongly that the outcome 22 insight
will be worth more than any sacrifice it takes to get there. Without that dream of a better outcome, it is difficult, if not impossible, to begin the journey, and endure the difficulties of the journey. 2.The Inability To Turn Back From Where You Began -Early pioneers often left with the knowledge that they couldn’t turn back. In our own lives, it might be a moral, ethical, physical, or spiritual reason as to why we cannot turn back, but a pioneer begins their journey to a better future and metaphorically doesn’t look back. So must be our mindset, as we begin our own journeys. 3.Knowledge That You Might Not Make It To The End, But You Are Willing To Do It Anyway. – In our own journeys, there will likely not be a physical concern of death, but when we think about the tough times where one embarked on something; perhaps it was overcoming a weakness, overcoming a difficult relationship, moving onto a new job, work struggles, going through the adoption process, beginning a new business venture, we can easily reach the point of, “I don’t know if I can do this.” It is important to learn that it was times like that, that great rewards were in store for you.
“EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US CAN BE A PIONEER”
4.Knowledge That Your Sacrifice Will Make The Life Of Someone Else Better – As we remember some of the pioneers throughout history, they all had this knowledge that their sacrifice would be beneficial to others. Our sacrifices and journeys may never be as physically daunting, but the emotional and mental challenges can be similarly daunting for us. Remembering that the sacrifices we make will make the lives others better, can give us hope and endurance to continue on. 5.Faith That You Actually Can Succeed – The last but most important aspect is faith. Faith that you can succeed, faith that you have the abilities, faith that your vision will endure. If you have a negative attitude of your outcome, than the journey will be the more difficult.

RESCUE TIPS
E
verybody wants to look beautiful, a well-groomed hair that draws public attention is the essence of beauty. Hair is the crowning glory on which both women and men spend a lot of time taking care of. Everyone wants a hair that shines and looks healthy but styling, colouring and pollution can leave hair looking dull and damaged. Hair loss is very common, in fact everybody loses hair. A recent survey says that on an average, people lose up to about 50 to 100 hairs a day. But this is a normal hair cycle and will be replaced with new ones. If you feel your hair loss is excess, it may be a sign for more serious medical condition and need an immediate treatment by a dermatologist. Some of most common causes of hair loss are due to nutritional deficiency, thyroid imbalance, change of climate, dandruff, illness and excessive use of styling tools and chemical treatments. Hormonal imbalance due to childbirth, pregnancy or onset menopause can also cause temporary hair loss. Ancestors or close relatives having long lineage of thinning of hair can cause hair loss genetically. Although there exist dozen of causes for hair fall, most of them do have a solution. Let us see few things to prevent hair fall.
FOLLOW HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Hair is an integral part of our organic system, and our scalp needs nourishment and nutrition. If you are healthy from the inside, your hair will be healthy and shiny. Eat fruits and vegetables that are rich in Vitamin B, Calcium, Iron and Zinc. Since hair is made up of protein, a protein rich diet with adequate water consumption can help to minimize hair fall.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Poorly maintained and dirty hair is more likely to get infected and tend to fall – so keep your hair clean. Buy quality hair products and don’t chang them frequently. Don’t scrub your hair hard; instead wash it gently concentrating on scalp and roots. Focus on the ends of the hair as it receives more damage. Trim the hair regularly to get rid of the split ends.
AVOID UNHEALTHY PRACTICES
Do not wear styles that pull hair tight. The hair actually comes out from the root when pulled. Any chemical treatments that change hair texture like hot ironing, perming, styling, hot oil treatments, straightening must be avoided. When the hair is wet, let it dry naturally by air. Blowing hair at high blow speed can cause damage to hair follicles.
QUICK FIXES
-Do not comb wet hair. Wet hair equals fragile hair, which easily tends to break. Let it dry naturally. -Use a wide toothed comb. -Towel-dry gently. -Try to cover your hair when exposed to sunlight. -Do not use conditioner every time you shampoo. Restrict it to once a week. -Every night comb your hair gently at least once to remove knots. -Do not stress too much about hair fall. You stress, your hair stresses. It’s a vicious cycle. 24 insight
BEAUTY BRIEF
I WOKE UP LIKE THIS
BOUNCY BLOW-DRY Nothing is harder than keeping your bouncy blow-dry’s perfect finish, let’s face it the minute you hit the pillow it’s game over for your hair. Luckily there is always a solution! Grab a silky scarf fancy - and wrap it around your head, tying it over your forehead, not on top of any hair. This protects those glossy locks from feeling the wrath of your tossing and turning, holding the style and keeping them smooth and completely static-free.
THE MASSIVE MOVEMENT
“
Because we don’t have Kate Middleton’s perfect locks, sacrificing sleep for a good hair is the fairest trade of all. Just weave these quick and easy styles before you go to bed and surprise everyone the next day, after all you did wake up like this!
PERFECT CURLS
Those who have naturally curly hair know how it feels like when the back falls flat! Don’t worry it’s not a deal breaker! Bend over and gather your hair at the very top of your head (like a ponytail), securing it with a soft scrunchie you can loosely slip over the hair. Now slowly stand up, still holding your hair, and split the pony into two parts, so you have a section coming down on either side of your head. You can leave it like this or top with a sleep cap for bonus beauty points, but the end results means your second day curls aren’t crushed and flat at the back. Brilliant. 26 insight
The longer the hair is, the more boring running a curling iron can be. It all comes down to a simple French braid weaved all throughout your hair, and when you take it out in the morning you’re left with loads of textured, random curls. Scrunch through a small amount of mousse to last all day.
BEACHY BRAID Plaited pigtails for beachy hair is hardly breaking news, but to really pack in tousled curves; you need to up your game. First spritz hair with a salt spray then braid your hair in not just two, but six unruly plaits. Now let your tresses do their thing while you catch a little zzzzz, then just release and shake up with fingers for a full-on Gisele effect.
THE GLOSSY LOOK Coat your hair - and we mean really slather - in a layer of coconut oil, working it through from root to tip and tying up into a bun. Your pillows may not thank you for this next part, as this is where you go to sleep, but it means you can a) skip a hair mask in the morning and b) enjoy soft locks with little effort.
1
BLACK SHORTS
It doesn’t get easier than this! Make a classic pair of black shorts winter-ready with the addition of opaque tights. Ginnifer Goodwin and Alexa Chung wore nearly identical outfits, with the exception of Chung’s warmth-adding hosiery.
3
2
BLACK JUMPSUIT
A sleeveless jumpsuit a la Gwyneth Paltrow’s tuxedo-inspired playsuit is one-step summer dressing, but requires a little something extra for fall. Follow Kristen Bell’s lead and add a sparkling sequin jacket that echoes the low-dipping neckline.
RED DRESS
That perfect strapless red dress can span the seasons with addition of a clever cover-up. Charlize Theron wore her peplum design sans topper, while Brooklyn Decker warmed up her wrap dress with the addition of a blazer and close-toed shoes.
TRANSITION SUMMER PIECES
4 In fall Into Don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet! With just a few simple styling tricks you can take your favorite warm-weather basics into fall (or from casual to office-friendly...or day to night!) Just like Blake Lively, Alexa Chung, Brooklyn Decker and more.
TUXEDOSTRIPE PANTS Miranda Kerr wore her two-tone trousers with an arm-baring top, while Blake Lively styled her pair with a long-sleeved shirt.
LEATHER LEGGINGS
Leather skinnies are chic yearround. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley styled her trousers for hot temps with an embellished tee and a bright bag. Just layer on a sweater (…and a cardi and a vest) like Olivia Palermo for a chill-resistant combo.
PINK TROUSERS
6 28 insight
Bright pants aren’t solely for sunshine-filled days. Sure, Beyonce looked fab in hot pink trousers and a matching print top, but Rachel Bilson made her lightweight pair cold weatherfriendly with the addition of black and white separates, including a boyfriend blazer.

DENIM SKIRT
A goes-with-everything jean skirt is not just for summery strolls. Kirsten Dunst may have worn hers for walking, but It Brit Poppy Delevigne took a similar style to a Chanel show with the addition of a silky blouse.

Breakout actress Lily Collins isn’t just constantly making our best-dressed lists; the designers are in love with her too. From Chanel to up-and-coming labels like Houghton, everyone has LILY COLLINS on their radar.
It’s hard to say which one of us is more obsessed with breakout movie (and red carpet) star LUPITA NYONG’O. She stole our hearts in the Golden Globes and captured our hearts in the Oscars. Believe us when we tell you that the new face of Lancom is the one to follow. KENDALL JENNER is a model in the making. And with a tall, slender figure like hers, it feels like it was a job she was born to do. Her style is effortless and often consists of leggings and denim shorts with oversized tops. However, it is the unique way she wears these clothes that we love. She pulls off the “model off duty” look excellently.
1. TROLLING SOCIAL MEDIA CASUALLY, JUST CASUALLY. Nothing weird, just looking at his Twitter to see if he’s tweeting a lot because if he is, he’s probably single and has a lot of free time to talk to you again. No big.
2. WRITING “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” ON THEIR FACEBOOK WALL. Whether you want to follow this up with a hilarious inside joke that shows you still know him really well and maybe he should hit you up, is up to you.
3. THE “LOL, WE MATCHED ON TINDER, WHAT ARE THE ODDS.” Whether he swiped you because he already dated you and thinks it’s funny you matched or because you have a different hair color now and he didn’t recognize you, either way, you’re talking again!
4. CHECKING OUT FACEBOOK TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY GIRLS WHO CONSISTENTLY “LIKE” THEIR POSTS.
Who the hell is She? Are they dating or is she just trying to date him? Whatever. She can have him. Honestly, we’ve all so been there, done that.
5. THE SUPER BREEZY TEXT.
“Hey man, what’s going on?” This may not be exactly how you do it, but every girl around the world has some suuuuper casual “We’re all just people, checkin’ in with people, to see if they’re single/are still deeply in love with us and writing songs about it” text they send that means way more than it seems to mean.

Insight Scoop MY SECRET TALENT IS... Cooking ;) I love to cook oriental dishes. MY GO TO SONG IS... Any song from my favorite band ‘Pentatonix’. I am drawn into their perfect harmonies and positive energy. IN MY DREAMS... I performed the role of “Velma” in Broadway’s ‘Chicago’, and sang on the same stage with Elset Majida El Roumi. THE BEST ADVICE I’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN IS... To be myself and stay that way. MY FAVOURITE GETAWAY IS... Watching a Hindi movie and enjoying their magical Bollywood dances, songs, costumes and emotions.
WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR PASSION FOR MUSIC AND SINGING?
I discovered it when I was a little girl trying to play all the melodies I like on the keyboard, and always trying to sing in the music classes at school.
WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE IN ‘STAR ACADEMY’?
Honestly, I never watched ‘Star Academy’ or any other Reality Show of this kind before I decided to participate in the 8th season of ‘Star Academy’. I watched a couple of videos and I fell in love with the stage, the dancers, the production, the set and the glamour and decided that I want to stand and perform on this stage.
HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE THAT EXPERIENCE, AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN THE ACADEMY?
It was a huge experience. It made me realize that being a singer does not only depend on the talent but also on the looks, the creative team working backstage and the management team planning for every single detail. I also learned to deal with people from different backgrounds and that have different beliefs, thoughts and even dialects.
ARE YOU STILL IN TOUCH WITH ANY OF YOUR COLLEAGUES IN THE ACADEMY? Some of them.
HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU WON THE FINAL PRIME?
I was very proud of myself. I worked very hard for it and I made sure that I focus only on my aim and not anything else, because art is discipline.
WHAT CHANGED IN YOUR LIFE AND PERSONALITY AFTER BECOMING A CELEBRITY?
Almost everything. I lost about 15 kilos. I now have less privacy than any other 24 year old lady, which is one of the disadvantages of fame. I started to take this career more seriously and started planning business strategies with the help of my managing team, Modern Touch lead by Mr. Magued Makram, who takes care of me, my dreams, my achievements and my success.
HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE CURRENT POLITICAL SCENE IN EGYPT AND ITS EFFECT ON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY? Of course, the political scene has a huge effect on the music industry in the Arab world. It affected concerts, producers and all artistic productions negatively. Even the audiences started to shift their attention to politics and news rather than watching video clips or attending concerts or musicals. Now, thank God, it’s becoming much better with more security in Egypt. People started to go out and be interested in knowing more about arts. Politics affects not only the audience but also the artists themselves because one cannot entertain people, when feeling sad, worried depressed and unsafe in one’s own country. I personally believe that artists have a message to their lovers and fans all over the world. I worked and am still working on getting through to everybody and I am always trying to be there for them and make them happy.
WOULD YOU CONSIDER ACTING AT SOME POINT IN YOUR CAREER?
Of course, I would love to act in movies, TV series and plays/musicals. I graduated from The American University in Cairo with a Bachelor in Musical Arts in Performance and I minored in Theatre. I participated in lots of acting and singing shows in my university and I took the leading role of AUC’s production of the baroque opera ‘Dido & Aeneas’ by Henry Purcell. I also joined the musical theatre company ‘Fabrica, founded by the famous soprano and my voice teacher, Dr. Neveen Allouba. I performed the role of ‘Eponine’ in the famous musical, ‘Les Miserables’, in its Arabic version. After its great success in AUC and in the famous show, ‘Elbernameg’, hosted by Dr. Bassem Youssef, we toured with ‘Les Misrable’ in the United States last January 2014. Now I am performing the leading role in the new original Arabic musical, ‘Donia Habibty’. It’s a political musical comedy, which talks about the Muslim Brotherhood’s political issues throughout the year of Mohammed Morsy’s presidency in Egypt. The musical is directed by the famous director, Galal Elsharkawy and it’s starring: Kamal Abu Raya, Reda Idris, Sayed Gabr, Injy Khattab and Ayman Ismail. This is a great chance for me to show everybody that Nesma Mahgoub is not only a singer and an actress but also a dancer.
WHAT ARE YOUR COMING PROJECTS?
I am working on new singles and a remix for one of the songs of my first album “Hatolly eh”. I am reading several scripts but still debating which would go first, my singing career versus my acting career. At the time being, I am very busy with the musical I am performing in but I am trying to manage rehearsing with my band members to get ready for the upcoming concert season. Recently, I collaborated with the new talented band “Phonograph”, we released our first project, a new remix of the famous song ‘Salemouli ala Masr’. We are working on several more remixes and duets.
YOU LATELY RELEASED YOUR VERSION OF ‘LET IT GO’, HOW DID IT ALL HAPPEN?
Dr. Jihan Elnasser, the known Arabic Disney singer and the musical director of all Disney animation movies, called me to meet her at the studio and try out Elsa’s role in Disney’s ‘Frozen’. I dubbed the whole role of ‘Elsa’ not only the songs. It was a fun experience that I would love to repeat again. After a couple of months, I watched a video where a university in Boston, USA, is teaching their music students how to sing my dubbed version of ‘Let it go’ in Arabic. I was very proud also because the Arabic version, which I sang, was chosen to be one of the top ten dubbed languages for the song.

nce upon a time, Natalie and Mariam Ghamrawy were two little girls who lived in a small family that had a passion for fondue. Years passed by and they decided to share their passion with all of us by establishing the best place to dine and create memories, being known as ‘The Fondue Pot’.

Insight SCOOP SECRET INGREDIENT... Mmmm… It wouldn’t be a secret if I told you, but I can give you a hint. ‘There comes an age where cheese is not too young or too old to make the perfect cheese fondue’ FAVOURITE FONDUE... All! But if I have to choose… Fiesta Cheese Fondue, Bourguignon Meat Fondue and Favarger Chocolate Fondue! THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T COOK WITHOUT... Butter. ‘A little butter never hurts anybody’ THE ONE INGREDIENT YOU CAN’T COOK WITH... Low quality ingredients. GUILTY PLEASURE... Chocolate fondue.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START ‘THE FONDUE POT’? AND WHAT’S THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND IT? Our family has a passion for different cuisines and fondue was one of our favorite holiday meals! We would have fondue nights at home and experiment with different recipes and ingredients. Combining our love for fondue with our passion for cooking, we decided to share our fondue experience with all Egyptians through ‘The Fondue Pot’. ‘The Fondue Pot’ aims at serving high quality food and service to allow our consumers to ultimately enjoy and savor the experience. ‘The Fondue Pot’ is not just a restaurant to dine in; it’s a place where you can create memories to savor forever.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
Ever since I was a little girl! My mom, being a great cook, with her European background combined with my dad’s passion for trying out different cuisines, definitely resulted in my passion for food and cooking.
DID YOU EXPECT THIS HUGE SUCCESS IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME? We tend to always strive to become better, so we wouldn’t consider this where we want to be yet. We’re hoping and reaching for the stars.
It’s a five-course experience that’s fun in every step!! Besides who doesn’t love cheese and chocolate?
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO KEEP THE VARIETY OF CHOICES AND EXCELLENT QUALITY OF TASTE? There are two rules that we work by: 1. Stand in the kitchen daily! Even if it is for a short while, observing the flow of work from within is definitely the most important step to prevent any errors. 2. Mystery diner! Nothing beats a critique’s point of view to help us maintain good quality and improve any issues that may occur.
WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE FOR THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS WHO AIM TO FOLLOW YOUR PATH? Go ahead and follow your dreams! If you have passion for what you are doing, you will succeed in ways you never thought were possible. Enjoy the corporate life for a short while, but don’t let it drag you in too much. Have a time plan and stick to it! Seek help and don’t be embarrassed to ask for it, because you give pleasure to those who help you more than you think.
My name is Natalie Ghamrawy. I have been living for 25 years going through different countries, studies and jobs, but I believe every step contributed to the person I am today. I don’t believe in such thing as a bad experience, I believe every experience you live makes you more aware and informed. I enjoy living life with all that comes with it. I love experimenting in the kitchen and trying out new cuisines. I workout but I don’t torture myself. I work hard but ensure I and all those around me enjoy the work-life balance. I like simplicity and believe it’s the most ultimate sophistication!
WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR PASSION FOR FOOD?
WHY SPECIFICALLY “FONDUE”?
WHAT’S YOUR NEXT STEP?
AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES/ OBSTACLES THAT FACE YOU IN THE BUSINESS? One of our biggest challenging passions is explaining fondue. Being a fairly new cuisine in Egypt we meet some people that are resistant to the idea of cooking their own food, however we try our best to get these guests to enjoy the experience so much that they become “fondue addicts”. Like the first Sushi restaurant in Egypt back in 1995, there were those resistant to the idea of raw fish, but look at the whole scene now… Sushi is a craving!
We are expanding ‘The Fondue Pot’ franchise. We’re also opening up a boutique where you can find all the equipment and accessories to enjoy your favourite fondue at home. Also, we have just launched our catering business, and we are looking forward to creating more experiences for all our guests’ events.
I DON’T BELIEVE

I believe every experience you live makes you more

MY SECRET TALENT… Being able to eat a burger and a pizza for lunch and still have space for dessert. On a more serious note, I learn things pretty fast, someone can do something in front of me once and I’ll find myself being able to do it afterwards easily. MY ROLE MODEL... I know that sounds cliche, but my family. My dad for his perseverance and hard work, my mum for having the kindest heart ever and my sister for how wise and smart she is. FAVORITE ICE-CREAM FLAVOR... It’s hard to pick just one seeing that I’m a big ice-cream fan. My favorite two are Baskin Robbins’ cotton candy flavor and Haagen Dazs caramel cookies and cream. THE ONE BEAUTY TIP I SWEAR BY... Using moisturizer on a daily basis! I love trying out beauty products, but the one I swear by is Clinique’s moisturizer and everyone I ever recommended it to would definitely agree with me. THE ONE THING I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT... That would have to be laughter.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
I’m 26 years old; I’m the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Fustany.com, which I started back when I was still a student in university studying Telecommunication Engineering. I’m an optimist, who’s passionate about food and I think laughter is the best medicine ever. I’m also an animal lover. I have some of the weirdest fashion accessories ever and enjoy traveling and meeting new people more than anything else.
YOU STUDIED ENGINEERING, WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO SWITCH YOUR CAREER PATH?
It was all by coincidence. I was planning on graduating and working with my dad. However, during my 4th year in college, I started working with a London based magazine as a freelance editor and immediately realized how passionate I am about this kind of work. A year later, I decided to launch ‘Fustany’ during my senior year in college, aiming to support design talents in the Middle East, in addition to offering women quality content they can browse on a daily basis, benefit from and relate to.
WHY “FUSTANY”?
Initially I was going to go for another name, but then I thought why not go for an Arabic word and then “Fustany” came to mind as I adore dresses. Dresses represent a certain lifestyle, a woman who loves to take care of herself, gives herself the needed time, is fashionable, outgoing, fun and that’s exactly our motto at ‘Fustany’; when you look good, you certainly feel good. By looking good I mean giving yourself the attention and time you deserve within our hectic lives. Another reason we wanted to go for an Arabic name, so that when ‘Fustany’ becomes known worldwide, they’d know it’s coming from the Middle East.
BEING A BIG FAN I HAVE TO ASK YOU, WHO IS THE MASTERMIND BEHIND ‘MY BUCKET OF ICE-CREAM’ AND WHAT DO YOU AIM TO DELIVER THROUGH LUCI’S CHARACTER? More than a year ago, the whole team was brainstorming to launch a few new ideas, including the Middle Eastern version of “Sex and the City” and we decided to do it with a twist. I immediately thought of someone who would fit perfectly in this role and who doesn’t mind sharing every detail of her life in a different way. Once she was on board, we thought it’s only fair to give her another name for anonymity purposes and that’s when Luci started. We aim to deliver real life stories most women out there have been through at a certain point of their lives, yet might not be willing to share. Luci isn’t afraid to share her emotions and some taboo things going on as well. She discusses almost everything, from love, to work, women, men, family, friends and travel.
AS A YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR, WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES THAT FACE YOU IN THE BUSINESS?
Not a single day goes by without facing a challenge. The one that I’m sure a lot of entrepreneurs would have in common with me, is the fact that there’s so much to be done but so little time for it.
HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING THE YOUNGEST EDITOR IN CHIEF IN EGYPT, IF NOT THE ENTIRE ARAB WORLD?
It never actually crossed my mind until I read your question. I’m not sure what to say, but it certainly made me really happy realizing that.
WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE FOR THE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS WHO AIM TO FOLLOW YOUR PATH? As exciting as having your own business is, it comes with a lot of sacrifices. You need to know that following your dream or what you’re passionate about isn’t easy and it takes so much work and effort, but it’s totally worth it.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS AN AMBASSADOR FOR ‘PANTENE’? Working with ‘Pantene’ is so much fun! They’re very professional and always keep things interesting and that’s why it’s a pleasure to work with them.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR AMIRA AZZOUZ AND ‘FUSTANY’?
We have very exciting expansion plans taking place very soon, I can’t reveal much at the moment, but we’re aiming to be the fashion and lifestyle hub for Middle Eastern women offering them many different activities.

YOUR GOALS
T
SELF REFLECTION W
riting can be so powerful. It forces you to crystallize your thoughts into written content, which simultaneously forces you to think deeper into the topic that is important to you. It is incredible what you can achieve if you get your issues out on paper and expect to find a solution. Of course we do this in our head constantly, but writing it down makes it much more easy to think trough complex issues. Sometimes it is really the only way to dig deeper and find the underlying principle or cause of your “problem”. The most important fact to succeed is to get to the core and to stay honest with yourself. If you are truthful with yourself (and what is the use of lying in your own journal anyway?) you will get to the point where you see the next level of thought that you avoided so far, leading towards a solution. And it always feels so great to get the inner space clear again. Do you go to you gym and to your doctor to keep your body in shape and clear of problems? Why not do the same to your mind and spirit by getting rid of the mental ballast you accumulated over time? Self-Reflection is the method to do this and writing a journal is the key.
WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS
I
n a personal journal you also have a fantastic place to write down your goals. You can write your goals, divide them into personal and professional goals, at the top of your personal journal. Then further divide them into the areas of importance. You can also put down a link to these goals so you can jump directly to them from anywhere in your journal. For instance if you
hink about it, you see your daily journal every day. What could be a better tool to develop the habit of reviewing your goals regularly, if not daily? As said, You can always jump to your list of goals and focus on it, right before you start into your day. You can review and set your new goals just by creating a new goal-page in your journal. That’s better than editing your list of goals, because you can see the old goals that you achieved later and it also prevents you from changing your goals too often.
IT GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO HOLD YOURSELF
RESPONSIBLE
I
f you write something down it is a different level of commitment to yourself. You can use this fact to your advantage. Let’s face it, sometimes we all could use a small kick in the butt to get us going into the right direction. By using your journal in this way, you will become your own coach. You can really say something to yourself and by writing it into your journal you can put a commitment on yourself. In this way you can literally lead yourself. This kind of self-leadership is a great way to push yourself to where you want to go. Someone really cares, and that someone is you. It is just important to balance it fitting your own needs.
YOU WRITE A BOOK ABOUT
YOURSELF
T
his is the typical idea of a diary: you write what happens to you, you reflect a bit about it and add your feelings and thoughts. You can also add pictures of the locations or of the achievements that are important to you. It is really great to review your personal development over the time. It may also be a great document for our relatives or even be inspiring for other people, who know who you will reach in your life from now on? It will give you a sense of your own personal growth and by that it will also motivate you to grow.
TO PLAN
Y
ou can use your personal journal to do your weekly planning. Divide your tasks into personal and professional tasks, put into the areas of importance and then prioritize. You can include a list of the tasks you want to accomplish over the week. Then put these tasks into your daily tool and execute them over the week.
IDEA-
JOURNAL
Y
ou can jot down your ideas. You can also collect great ideas in your personal journal. These ideas may appear out of thoughts, of intuition; of chats with other people or out of something you read, heard or saw anywhere.
YOU EXERCISE YOUR WRITING
SKILLS
T
his is obvious but worth noticing. By writing a personal journal you get into the habit of writing. It is not necessary to write the greatest poetry of the world into your personal journal, neither is it the point unless you are a poet. But simply by writing a personal journal writing will become a much more natural expression of yourself.
SOMETIMES IT IS REALLY THE ONLY WAY TO DIG DEEPER AND FIND THE UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE OR CAUSE OF YOUR “PROBLEM”.

CLEAR YOUR DEBTS
1-Clearing credit card debt is more urgent than having a saving pot. Credit cards means paying 10-20% interest charges, whereas even the best saving account ways you just 2% interest. So however heavy your money jar is getting, you’re loosing money faster than you’re saving it. 2-Set up standing orders so monthly payments are made as soon as you get paid. Prioritise debts according to which charges the highest interest rates. So if your credit card charges 15% interest and you loan 7%, any spare cash at the end of the month needs to go to your credit card. 3-Worried you won’t pay off your debt before the end of the 0% period? Make yourself a payment plan. Fallen behind? Be sure to move any reaming debt to another 0% offer before the rate jump up.
LIVE BY THE 50/20/30 PLAN
50% OF YOUR INCOME -ESSENTIALS With this rule, 50% of your income (or less) should go toward paying for the absolute necessities of life -- your essential expenses. This might seem like a high percentage, half your money right off the top, but once you consider what falls into this category, it makes a bit more sense. Essentials are the expenses you would probably have, regardless of where you lived, where you worked, or what your future plans happened to be. They are nearly the same for everyone. Housing, food, transportation, and utilities fall into this category. The percentage lets you adjust and still keep a sound budget. Where some live in high-rent areas but can walk to work, others enjoy much lower housing but higher transportation costs.
SAVINGS: NOT JUST SOMETHING OTHER PEOPLE HAVE
1-Once you’ve got those debts sorted, aim to save 30% of your income and spend 70%. 2-Some banks offer high interest rate if you commit to saving on a monthly basis, so shop around, but remember that loyalty is rarely rapid, banks often use teaser rates to get you in, but once a year’s up, drop them to a ridiculously low level. 3-Keep moving your savings. For example, if you save a month with an interest rate of 0.5%, shop around for a rate of 2% and you’d end up with more.
30% OF YOUR INCOME -PERSONAL CHOICES The last category, and the one where you can make the most difference in your budget, is voluntary obligations that enhance your lifestyle. Some financial experts consider this category completely discretionary, but some of these so-called luxuries have taken on a mandatory status. It all depends on what you want, and are willing to sacrifice. The reason it’s a larger percentage than your obligations is because so much falls into it. Personal lifestyle choice obligations include your cell phone, cable, and Internet plans. If you travel extensively, your cell phone plan is probably not a luxury, but a necessity for doing business. However, you can control which plan you’ve got. Gym memberships and dining out are also in this category. Only you can decide what belongs here, and what doesn’t. As with essential expenses, 30% should be the top end; spend less, and you’ll make more progress.
A LITTLE EFFORT NOW
WILL PRODUCE BIG
GAINS IN THE FUTURE
YES, YOU DO NEED A PENSION
1-Ok, next summer’s holiday seems far enough away, never mind planning for retirement in 40 years time. But consider that the pension stands at less than 50% of your monthly salary and you’ll be more inclined to shift it up your to-do-list. 2-Contact HR and ask to join your company’s pension scheme. More free cash: for each % you pay in, they contribute too. 3-Self employed? See a financial adviser to find the best pension provider for you. Most offices offer a free consultation to understand your need. 4-Start small, perhaps 1%-2%- whatever is affordable- and then try to increase this slightly on a yearly basis, or every time you get a pay raise. Even if it doesn’t seem like much, it will be growing over three or four decades.
20% OF YOUR INCOME -FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS The next 20% of your take-home pay should be directed toward those things you must do, but wouldn’t die or be homeless if you didn’t. That’s an oversimplification, of course. This category should be paid after essentials, and before moving on to the last category.
Financial obligations are your savings contributions, such as retirement and emergency savings, and debt reduction. This is your “get ahead” category. Where 50% of your income or less is the goal for essentials, 20% or more should be the goal with obligations. You’ll pay off debt and make strides toward your future with a heavy concentration here.

10 Relationship Common
Mistakes Most Women Are Likely To Do
What are the common mistakes women make in relationships? The answers include mis-timing commitment talks, becoming jealous girlfriends, tolerating selďŹ sh behaviour out of fear of breaking up, expecting a guy to understand her, mistaking sexual chemistry for love and many other typical errors of judgment that lead to a breakup. This unbiased, slightly hard-hitting but realistic post discusses the everyday things that girls should avoid doing while dating a guy - for the relationship’s happiness, and their own.
62 insight
Mistaking sexual chemistry for love, commitment or strong emotional attachment
Mis-timing conversations about love, commitment and life plans
Call it cute immaturity or call it parts of their personalities, men are typically known to be more commitment phobic than women. This makes them afraid of any conversation that is centred around commitment or long term relationship issues while they are in the dating phase. Let life get in the way of kissing, cuddling and sex.
Girls can mistake good sexual chemistry as a strong emotional bond with their guys. If you are making the same mistake and assuming that good sexual compatibility is a sign of love and commitment from his side, you may be in for a rude wake-up call.
Mistake of turning into jealous and possessive girlfriends Men and women both are equally guilty of turning into jealous lovers in a relationship. Love literally knows no boundaries and it can pull a person into the deep trauma of suspicion, jealousy and possessiveness.
Suffering abuse out of fear of losing love forever Whether abuse is verbal, physical or emotional, no woman deserves to go through the pain of tolerating an abusive relationship. But some girls often stay on in such a relationship because they fear facing heartbreak and the risk of losing love forever..
The mistake of becoming overly dependent on boyfriends
Girls can make the mistake of becoming overly dependent on their boyfriends. Dependency from this perspective doesn’t simply mean emotional dependency. It applies to everything including depending on him to take you out on Friday night or depending on him to help you with problems you have with your friends. Relationships are all about give and take. You are expected to depend on your boyfriend for support but excessive dependence can get out of hand. Don’t make this mistake if you want to avoid annoying your guy and push him at his wit’s end.
8 9
The mistake of expecting him to understand all the time: Not voicing out your needs
Maybe someone has rightly said that men and women are wired slightly differently. Don’t expect your guy to understand a woman’s feelings all the time. If you want something or if you expect him to do something, say it out loud. If you make the mistake of expecting your guy to understand you at every single step, you are going to end up hurting yourself emotionally. It is one thing to expect a man to give you a hug when you are sad but it is another to expect him to be a mind reader.
10
Making the mistake of giving a relationship priority over friendship
Men and women both make this common mistake that can worsen the depression after a breakup. No matter how beautiful your relationship seems right now, never make the mistake of ignoring your friends while you are dating. If you breakup with the guy, he will conveniently walk away. And since you haven’t been keeping in touch with your real friends, there won’t be anyone to comfort you and cheer you up after breakup.
Tolerating a selfish boyfriend beyond a certain limit
It is difficult to draw the line when it comes to tolerating someone’s selfish behaviour, especially if that person is your boyfriend. Try to make him realize he’s selfish. But if he continues his selfish streak without any signs of stopping, you must make a decision before you push yourself in the trap of being taken for granted. Don’t mistake your guy’s selfishness for immaturity.
7
Comparing one’s own relationship with someone else’s
Don’t make this mistake of comparing your relationship to that of someone else. You and your boyfriend are two completely different individuals. Your behaviour as a couple is not supposed to be similar to anyone else’s.
Loving a guy for what he can be: Trying to get him to live up to his inner potential
Expecting a guy to behave like someone he isn’t is a common mistake women make in relationships. It is one thing to stop your boyfriend from doing something that can be bad for him. But it is another to get him to do things that he just isn’t cut out for. Whether it is in studies, work or personality, stop thinking that you will be able to bring out your guy’s true potential. He is what he is and if you love him for someone you hope he can become, maybe you are in love with the wrong person.

7 SIGNS YOU’RE AN ENTREPRENEUR
66 insight
YOU COME FROM A LINE OF PEOPLE WHO COULDN’T WORK FOR SOMEONE ELSE. People who are successful at establishing their own business tend to have had parents who worked for themselves. It’s usually easier to get a job with a company than to start your own business; people who strike out on their own often have the direct example of a parent to look to.
YOU’RE A LOUSY EMPLOYEE. No need to sugar-coat this one. People who start their own businesses tend to have been fired from or quit more than one job. We’re not saying you were laid off for lack of work or transitioned from one job to a better-paying one — you were cut loose, or you quit before they could fire you. Think of it as the marketplace telling you that the only person who can effectively motivate and manage you is yourself.
We’re truly envious of the few people we know who’ve stayed with one employer for 25 or 30 years. They look incredibly secure. But how many people do you know who are able to stay with one company for that long? In a rapidly changing economy, job security can be frighteningly fleeting. Here’s how one selfemployed person puts it: “If I work for someone and my boss screws up, or decides he doesn’t like me, or runs the company into the ground or any number of other things, then I’m out of a job. My security is tied to that one guy, that one company. But if a client decides they don’t like me, or they go out of business or whatever, I’ve still got the security of all the other customers I have.”
345
2 1
YOU SEE MORE THAN ONE DEFINITION OF “JOB SECURITY.”
It takes an entrepreneurial fire in your belly to start a business — and make it succeed — and not everyone has it. How do you know if you have what it takes to start a business? You don’t have to fit all seven of these categories to be a good candidate for entrepreneurship. But it probably wouldn’t hurt. In general, the more you have in common with these characteristics, the closer you probably are to being ready to try going out on your own.
67
YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT DO IT ALONE.
You might excel at promoting a business. Maybe you love running the financial end of the enterprise. You could be someone who starts a business because you have unique creative or technical know-how to create a product.
YOU’VE GOT THE SUPPORT OF YOUR FAMILY.
Starting a business is stressful under the best of circumstances. Trying to do it without the support of your spouse or other significant family members or friends would probably be unbearable.
YOU’VE GONE AS FAR AS YOU CAN GO, OR YOU’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL. Sometimes the motivation to start a new venture comes from having reached the top of the pile where you are, looking around, and saying, “What’s next?” Early success can be wonderful, but early retirement can sometimes drive energetic and motivated people totally crazy. On the other hand, the drive to build something new can also come from deciding that you’re stuck in the middle instead of at the top. Fear of stagnation can be a powerful motivator, especially if you have an idea for something that could be at least more interesting and potentially more lucrative.
YOU’VE DONE THE MARKET RESEARCH ALREADY. Don’t even talk to me about your great business idea if you haven’t put the time into figuring out if there’s a market for your product or service. As the people behind any number of failed Internet ventures will tell you, “cool” doesn’t necessarily translate into “profitable.” Don’t bother building it if you haven’t figured out whether there’s a good chance the customers will come.

ith more than 80 years in the Egyptian market, Philips continues to deliver high quality and superiority in innovation. This year Philips presents ‘Lumea’ and ‘VisaPure’, the latest quality products to hit the Egyptian market. We met Mr. Olaf Koning, General Manager North East Africa Philips Consumer Lifestyle, who talked to us about the new products and explained the philosophy behind ‘Philips Consumer Lifestyle’.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT ‘LUMEA’ AND ‘VISAPURE’?
These two new products offer the latest technology from Philips and are part of an ongoing commitment to improve women’s lives through meaningful innovation. Philips has been known for its quality and innovation for making difference against competition, and it is very important to show what kind of meaningful innovation you have. Females care about their beauty and radiance, and for that we are presenting the ‘VisaPure’. ‘VisaPure’ is a very interesting product that will help you clean your face and make it more radiant and healthy. In fact, ‘VisaPure’ is ten times more effective than cleansing the face by hand. ‘VisaPure’ creates a salon beauty finish at home, helping you make your beauty routines simpler and more convenient with the latest technology available to help unveil a natural, healthy-looking glow. The ‘Lumea’ is almost like science fiction; it’s an IPL hair removal system that prevents hair regrowth by using Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology. Philips has adapted this technology for safe and effective use in the comfort of your own home. Nothing like it was available in the market before, it is the ultimate choice for all women. We are very proud to launch these two products that are going to add a lot to the Egyptian consumers.
HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SHORT YET SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY WITH PHILIPS IN EGYPT?
I came to Egypt in a very interesting time, April 2011, just after the revolution. I actually had plans to come in January but I had to postpone my journey because of what was going on. When I came Egypt, the economical and political statuses were not easy. I can describe the situation in Egypt as a roller coaster; I really didn’t know what kind of direction it would go politically. From an economical point of view, the Egyptian market is a very big market, and whether there 68 insight
is a revolution or not, it will stay big. Egypt is of strategic importance, it played a leading role in the past and continues playing this leading role. The stabilisation happening will tell you that the consumers confidence is coming back. In Philips, we are determined to stay in Egypt, Egypt has a very bright future and we want to be a part of it.
AT ‘PHILIPS CONSUMER LIFESTYLE’ WHAT DO YOU AIM TO DELIVER WITH YOUR PRODUCTS?
It is clear that we have many good quality products, but what we are really strong about is our meaningful innovation. What we try to do, based on consumer insight, is to bring new products to the market that will help the health and well being of our consumers. We play in different kind of sectors with different kind of technologies that will help in increasing the well being of our consumers.
WHAT MAKES PHILIPS A STANDALONE COMPETITOR? Philips is a stand-alone competitor by meaningful innovation. We have been here in Egypt since 1930, we have factories and we are a well-known brand. People know us because the products we present deliver quality, but the differentiator is the innovation. You will never win if you only copy, you will win if you stand-alone, you need to differentiate from other places and ‘Lumea’ and ‘Visapure’ are the best example of what we stand for.
WITH ALL THE ECONOMICAL AND POLITICAL UPS AND DOWNS HAPPENING IN EGYPT, HOW CAN YOU EVALUATE THE EGYPTIAN MARKET TODAY? I understand that there is doubt, but for me there is no doubt. I

think that we will face a lot of hard circumstances, but I think we are going in the right direction. I have high hopes for this country. Egypt is part of Africa and Africa is the new China. All the big multinationals are now moving directions to Africa. Egypt is one of the key players in Africa, with its large populations, relatively well developed knowledge and strategic situation, Suez Canal, hence and forth this country could only have a bright future.
WHAT DO WE MISS TO REACH INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION?
I think stabilization is critical to have recognition. Egypt needs other countries, like any country does. For any investor stabilization is critical. Stabilization for this country is the key word, if it is provided; Egypt will make progress and will be one of the leading countries.
‘LUMEA’ & ‘VISAPURE’ INVESTMENT IN INNOVATION In my point of view we just started. There is a lot to do, we want to be Local Relevant for this country. Of course our products are global introductions but we want to localise them. We want to know what the consumers need, we want to market in the way the consumers want, we want to launch more products. We had very successful introductions in the past in Egypt and we will continue... The more successful we are the more we will invest, the more people will start to work for Philips, the more we can increase knowledge and help each other.

HUGH HEFNER (1926-PRESENT) While Jobs was always an intelligent and innovative thinker, his youth was riddled with frustrations over formal schooling. Jobs was a prankster in elementary school, and his fourth-grade teacher needed to bribe him to study. Jobs tested so well, however, that administrators wanted to skip him ahead to high school. In 1976, started Apple Computer in the Jobs family garage. In 1985, Jobs resigned as Apple’s CEO . The following year Jobs purchased an animation company which later became Pixar Animation Studios. Despite Pixar’s success, the following year, Jobs returned to his post as Apple’s CEO.

In the early 1950s, Hefner was leading a life typical of many of his peers. He was fresh out of college, young and ambitious, and in an entry-level job with a major corporation at the Chicago office of Esquire magazine. Out on his own Hefner was determined to start his own publication, one that was similar to Esquire but better. Hefner had planned to name the magazine “Stag Party” but was forced to change the name to avoid a trademark infringement with the existing Stag magazine. A friend suggested the name “Playboy,” after a defunct automobile company in Chicago. Hefner promoted what became known as the “Playboy Philosophy.” An evolving manifesto on politics and governance, the philosophy espoused Hefner’s fundamental beliefs about the nature of man and woman and called for reasoned discourse on the truths of human sexuality.
Branson had an intense passion for music and culture, already at a young age he started developing his own magazine, which he titled ‘The Student’, Branson decided to establish a bigger yet more personal form of business. Formed in 1972 with a few friends they decided on the concept of creating a music mailorder catalogue service. They called the organization “Virgin” since all the founders were new i.e. “virgins’’ to the business. Branson was cited by Forbes magazine in the illustrious caliber of world billionaires with a staggering net worth of 4.6 billion dollars.
STEVE JOBS (1955-2011) Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, an internet-based hypermedia initiative for global information sharing while at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory, in 1989. His specifications of URIs, HTTP and HTML were refined as Web technology spread. HARRIET QUIMBY (1875-1912)
MIA HAMM (1972-PRESENT) She scored 158 goals in 275 appearances for the United States, winning two Olympic gold medals and a couple of World Cup golds. Little wonder that she is regarded as the greatest women’s football player ever. Hamm was named as one of Fifa’s 125 greatest living footballers, as chosen by Pele.
RICHARD BRANSON (1950-PRESENT) Harriet Quimby was the first woman to earn a pilot license in the United States, in August 1911. A journalist and screenwriter, she became a minor celebrity and was extremely influential to other women in the early days of aviation. Her flying career was highlighted by a crossing of the English Chanel. On April 16, 1912, she flew a 50 HP monoplane from Dover, England to HardelotPlage, Pas-de-Calais. Her achievement was overshadowed by news of the sinking of the HMS Titanic the previous day. On July 1st, 1912, she was killed while flying in an airshow in Massachusetts.
GET RID
OF YOUR
BELLY
BULGE By Samira Khalil
How many months have you been trying to get flat abs with slow or no progress? How many of us are always trying to hide our bellies under baggy tops and loose blouses? The most frequently asked questions I get from clients are what to do to get rid of the belly bulge or how to flatten the mommy pouch? You are not ALONE.
C
ontrary to the popular belief, getting rid of your belly fat is not about doing hundreds and thousands of crunches every week, It’s all about proper nutrition & cardio. This is because belly fat comes from excess fat storage in the abdominal region not because of lack of muscle. So the best way to reduce the body fat around your midsection is by increasing your cardio by running and sprinting. I am not saying don’t do abs workout, all I am saying is that when it comes to your abs workout, focus on your entire core and body not just your abs. This way you’ll burn way more calories, as you’ll target all your muscles. And by adding to it cardio you’ll get rid of the excess fat. Sometimes we feel bloated as well because of the extra water weight we carry in our tummies. Try to cut your salt intake to 1500 mg a day and increase your water intake. This method will help you a lot if you’re having water retention in your body. There are a lot of other things we often don’t consider when it comes to belly fat. There is a hormone in our bodies called “Cortisol” that is released in big amounts in times of stress; as a result fat accumulates around the midsection. Our bodies stay in stress mode with work deadlines and as a result we push our buttons to excel
“
at work, this is when cortisol is secreted and thus we are more likely to experience regular spikes of carb and sugar cravings. Take many deep breaths to decrease stress or try some yoga classes to calm down.
Food & Belly Fat
Replace the calorie dense foods like junk, chocolates, sodas and chips with nutrient dense foods like whole grains, lean proteins, fresh fruits & veggies. Food quantity and timing is of equal importance as well. Cut your big meals into smaller & lighter meals; aim at eating a small meal every 3-4 hours instead of eating two big meals/day.
Planks
One of the best core strengthening exercises that you could do besides your cardio workouts is the PLANK. Start by lying facedown, position your elbows under your shoulders, and bring your feet together. Contract your abs and hold this position as long as you can.
WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR ABS WORKOUT, FOCUS ON YOUR ENTIRE CORE AND BODY NOT JUST YOUR ABS.

Finally, Getting a sleek & defined look really comes down to healthy eating and consistent exercise. Stick to it and be patient, it’s worth it.

Cezanne
FATHER OF MODERNISM Early Life
Cezanne was born in the southern French town of Aix-en-Provence, January 19, 1839. The son of a wealthy banker, his boyhood companion was Emile Zola, who later gained fame as a novelist and man of letters. Cezanne developed artistic interests at an early age, much to the dismay of his father. In 1862, after a number of bitter family disputes, the aspiring artist was given a small allowance and sent to study art in Paris. Cezanne developed a commitment to the representation of contemporary life, painting the world he observed without concern for thematic idealization or stylistic affectation. The most significant influence on the work of his early maturity proved to be Camille Pissarro, an older but as yet unrecognized painter who lived with his large family in a rural area outside Paris. Pissarro not only provided the moral encouragement that the insecure Cezanne required, but he also introduced him to the new impressionist technique for rendering outdoor light. Under Pissarro’s tutelage, and within a very short time during 1872-73, Cezanne shifted from dark tones to bright hues and began to concentrate on scenes of farmland and rural villages. For many years Cezanne was known only to his old impressionist colleagues and to a few younger radical postimpressionist artists, including the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh and the French painter Paul Gauguin. In 1895, however, Ambroise Vollard, an ambitious Parisian art-dealer, arranged a show of Cezanne’s works and over the next few years promoted them successfully. By 1904, Cezanne was featured in a major official exhibition, and by the time of his death (October 22, 1906) he had attained the status of a legendary figure.
Interesting Facts aul Cezanne’s work laid the foundations of P the transition from the 19th century conception of artistic endeavour to a new and radically
different world of art in the 20th century. Cezanne can be said to form the bridge between late 19th century Impressionism and the early 20th century’s new line of artistic enquiry, Cubism. aul Cezanne was often called the father of modern art, who strove to develop an ideal synthesis of naturalistic representation, personal expression, and abstract pictorial order. The line attributed to both Matisse and Picasso that Cezanne is “the father of us all” cannot be easily dismissed. n 1886, Cezanne became embittered over what he took to be thinly disguised references to his own failures in one of Zola’s novels. As a result he broke off relations with his oldest supporter. any of Cezanne’s early works were painted in dark tones applied with heavy, fluid pigment, suggesting the moody, romantic expressionism of previous generations. uring his last years many younger artists travelled to Aix to observe him at work and to receive any words of wisdom he might offer. oth his style and his theory remained mysterious and cryptic; he seemed to some a naive primitive, while to others he was a sophisticated master of technical procedure.

The stars recommend that the Libras rely on themselves this month; much more than on the external circumstances or someone’s promises, even if that someone is a relative or someone close. Currently all of the upcoming events are very easily forecasted; the Scorpios that have not let the crucial aspects of their fate out of their sight will be prepared for all tests of life. If, however, you did not pay such close attention, then your innate insight will come to your aid as for a true Scorpio.
if you have a facsimile, then it will be much simpler to resolve this situation. It is important that precisely your hand does not touch the paper, otherwise you may expect serious problems. Even if his warning seems strange or even comical for some, the stars are very serious.

Do not sit idly on a spot, sleep five hours a day, and aim at realizing the projects you desire to finish. S UA RI U Everyone will face an uneasy life stage at this time. Do what you can do, execute your tasks, be a relative initiative-taker. The main thing is not to put your hands down if the first ten-day period will bring you only the bad. This just means that more is required from you than you wish.

If you work for yourself, then you can expect serious problems with the mechanics of production. The complication of the situation is that you will not be able to prepare yourself for the upcoming negativity, as you will not know its type and what it will be directed at. However, you can prepare for it mentally.

Currently, your mastery can stabilize the environment and shift the scales to the benefit of those for whom support is vital. From this point of view, the forecasted life stage will be extremely positive for you, since you will be able to really help those around you.
There will be times where you will be on top of the wave, diving deep into the very heart of the battle and snatching victory straight out your enemies’ hands. However, you will more frequently encounter ambiguous situations, which may turn into massive problems.

The change in environment will help you immensely, will lighten your emotional load and will productively reflect on your working process. You will not have an opportunity to go on a vacation, so try to organize a “rest zone” without leaving the cash register sort of speak, meaning directly at work.

Do not limit yourself. Choose any methods of influencing those around you and any methods of reaching the goals you have set. You will definitely attain your mission! Just try not to leave smoking ruins behind you.
Do not rush into agreeing, but do not dismiss the idea either. With some analysis you will see the evident benefits of such a development. Undoubtedly you will have to try hard, as per usual every party will try to pull the blanket more onto their own side.
No one will give you good advice at the moment, the stars are fairly certain in that. So fully depend on yourself. Support is of course great, but you must know how to support yourself when a flurry or a hurricane is coming to sweep you off your familiar trench.
