enemos el agrado de presentar el T proyecto anual “The World Cup” (La copa
enjoy •i t !

The culture is related to the cultural development of the Western world. In this moment I wouldn’t visit France because for me, it is not interesting. I only like the food like the macarons. The other things are so boring for me. I think it’s a city for educated people, art lovers and people in love.

intervie eporting some parts of the interview on R30th November 2017: Lionel Messi spoke
exclusively to FIFA.com For the question of the Journalist: “Have the wounds of Brazil 2014 healed?” Messi denied knowing If they were ever going to heal. They were just going to have to live with it. It was going to be there forever. The World Cup was a very happy memory and bitter one to because of how it ended, how it had worked out. But it was always going to be there. Then the journalist asked: “Were you surprised Chile failed to qualify?” Messi admitted being surprised when Chile had failed to qualify because they had won the last two copas America and there was a great team with very good players.
Also the journalist asked: “How are you feeling now you’ve turned 30? Are you where you thought you’d be?” Messi said that he never had thought about how he felt when he had gotten there, but he was very happy with both of his personal life and football. He’d said he was in good shape on and off the pitch. And that he was very pleased with where he is right now.

Students reported about their opinions about the World Cup 2018. Nazarena’s opinion: Nazarena said about the World Cup that Croacia had improved in terms of the game. It had played the final against with France, one of the best Football teams of Europe. And she had thought that Argentina could play better than it had done because in other world cups Argentina had played the final and also had won two world cups!
by Iara Asteazaran
Iara’s Opinion: Iara said that the World Cup has been organized and very nice, that there had been a lot of people that had gone to Russia and that the results of the matches had been better in the games but in the end had been better for the French because they had won with Croatia.

hotels in buenos aires
From: Marta Saranzotti To: President and Authorities of FIFA Subject: Argentina Dear Sir, I am specially interested in the fact that FIFA could take into account my country, Argentina, to play the next World Cup, having its central location in Buenos Aires. Our country has the best hotels and transport for the authorities and players to stay in and move through; the transport would be by vans. The best weather would be in spring. We can offer football stadiums with good capacity and safety. I would like you not to take into account the facts occurred in our country related to football because my country is really prepared to play football. It was just a small group of people who darkened the sport event. Yours faithfully,
marta saranzotti About football, I think the same that I have written in the email, some people destroy the image of the country.

foot ball stadiums
Dear Mr. Infantino, President of FIFA In first place, there are now more than twenty stadiums around the country, but not each one is in good state. They have a lot of infrastructure problems. Also, the distance between them is too big. Means of transport are in disastrous conditions. There isn’t enough places to stay in. Argentina is not prepared for a World Cup in facilities and accommodation. The weather conditions in July are good because it isn‘t too hot to play football. Besides, Argentina is not safe. Tourists can be stolen and the matches called off because of fans’ bad behavior. Apart from that, the stadiums conditions are terrible. Only three or four stadiums have the minimum requirements. To conclude, I can say that it exists a violent culture in football which is dangerous for people. Moreover, there are not many attractions in this country for the tourists so I think that Argentina is the worst country to host a World Cup. Yours faithfully,

75 Dear FIFA authorities, I think Argentina is not prepared to be the host country of an event as important as the World Cup. Even though, we have a lot of stadiums all around the country, and multiple ways to move easily from one to another (by bus, underground, train and taxi), they are not in the best conditions and they do not have much capacity. While the general average is 70.000 people, here it is of 50.000. Another issue is that the stadiums are completely open, which affect the crowds in case of a storm. Recently a game between Boca-River, for the Libertadores of America Cup, could not be played because it rained so much that the field flooded. Last Saturday, there was another Boca-River match that again could not happen because it was not well-organized by the security ministry. The positive thing about choosing Argentina is that we have a lot of attractions, like the Planetario, going to La Boca and learning Tango, visiting the cemetery of Recoleta, going to see a play in Corrientes street, etc. Also, our country has got a long and beautiful variety of landscapes in every province, so you will always have something to do or visit. Your faithfully,

78 o you love football? Have you ever D wanted to be a famous football player? It is
the dream of almost every child to be like Cristiano Ronaldo or like Lionel Messi, but is it only about having fun playing football? One of the main advantages is that you have to have a good physical condition. That is really important, because you will have more resistance, and with a healthy body, you will have a healthy life. Another advantage is, if you are a famous and manuel lan zini
an exceptional player, some companies will call you to be sponsored. It is a very good way to earn money, considering that you only have to go to a studio and speak in a good way about a product. However, being a famous player sometimes can be a bad experience. Your private life will not be private anymore. Lots of paparazzi will be after you and it can turn annoying. Another disadvantage is the intensive training that you have to do. If you want to keep your reputation as a great player, you will have to train a lot. Considering these points, it seems to me that being a football player is a great choice, even if the paparazzi bother you. It is great to get paid for having fun and doing what you want. Plus, it demands you to be in a good physical condition and to have a healthy diet.

profession which only some can endure. One major advantage is that you can play in the team of your dreams or for your country. For example, Gerard Pique who plays for Barcelona and Spain. In addition to this, if you are successful in this profession, you can earn a lot of money. For instance, Neymar who earns €36,8 millions a year.

For example, Manuel Lanzini, a West Ham player who broke his leg in July while he was training. Apart from this, in this profession, you become famous easily, and all your movements can be on TV. In conclusion, you may get injured but, in my opinion, being a football player is one of the most amazing professions. It is lucrative and the fans give their players a lot of love. Taking everything into account is your turn to decide to be or not a football player.

lot of people think football is the A most important thing. Some of them want
to be a football player in the future but they must consider that there are a lot of pros and cons, for example, the pressure the football player feels when he is going to play. Nevertheless, they could be glorious players and loved by the fans. One of the main advantages is the good salary, for example, Cristiano Ronaldo who earns €30 million a year. In addition to this, if you are an important player the fans will love you. This is the case of Javier Mascherano, he retired of the Argentinian team and the fans want him to be the next DT. However, footballers can suffer fractures in the matches, which sometimes are painful and they can finish with their career. If you are a famous player you can suffer. Like Peter Cech, he suffered a brain damage during a match and now he plays with a helmet. To sum up, being a football player isn’t as bad as people think. In my opinion, being a football player is a very good job. Would you be one?

eing a football player isn’t easy, B you have to put a lot of effort to become
one and have, at least, a bit of luck. Although you put everything to turn into one, you need to have some skills, if not, it’s pretty difficult. If you’re in doubt, let me inform you about some pros and cons of this profession. First, let us start with the pros. If you’re a bit lazy you won’t have to worry about university, and, you can succeed more than a person with a degree. If you have low self-esteem you would like to become a football player because you could win the love of thousands of fans, and also you can play for the team of your dreams. You would be able to get brand merch that would use you to promote their clothes or other stuff. Finally, we assume that if you are a football player, you have the job of your dreams. But, like other Jobs, it has a bad side. For example, living with a constant pressure, this job requires a lot of calm, if not, you could easily go out of your mind. You don’t have free days, instead, you work every day, even on holidays, deep inside, people don’t care about you, so they demand a lot. They also don’t care about your education, so if you don’t finish high school, it doesn’t matter for them. In conclusion, although we all agree about the difficulty of following the way of being a footballer, it is a beautiful sport

f you want to be a football player I you need to know the advantages and
disadvantages of it. It is a good option being a footballer because if you are good, you are going to be well-paid. For example, Lionel Messi, whose salary is â‚Ź40 million. In addition to this, you can be famous and if you train hard you can have a good physical condition. On the other hand, if you are a football player you might easily get injured and sometimes you must move to another country if you have good job opportunities there. For instance, Javier Mascherano, an Argentinian player who plays in Hebei China Fortune in China. Not to mention the fact that they work for a few years; they can work until the age of thirty. My opinion is that it is too hard to be a football player if you do not really want it. You would waste time training to be a good one and you cannot have hobbies or go on vacations as you pleased.

Here we have some pros and cons of being a footballer. One point of view in favour of being a football player is that you can win all the competitions and have a great year. For example, if you are playing for Chelsea you can win: The Premier League, the Europa League, the FA Cup, the Football League Cup or you can win the World Cup with your country. Apart from this, some players are remembered as legends in their clubs. For instance, Carles Puyol is loved for Barça fans, Thierry Henry for Arsenal fans and Maradona for Napoli and Boca fans. On the other hand, you might not have a private life because of paparazzi. For example, Marco Verratti who was seen smoking on his vacations and the paparazzi photographed him. In addition to this, a lot of people may criticize you if you have a bad match or if you miss a penalty. For instance, Messi missed the penalty versus Islandia in the 2018 World Cup and many people criticized him in social media. I like the idea of being a legend of my favourite club but in my opinion, I would not be a football player because I’m scared of not having the fans’ support. Now it’s your turn to choose if you want to be a football player or not.

• The students were invited to read some articles related to capitalism from the Guardian’s newspaper, to increase their vocabulary. After some readings they prepared an article in which they had to explain and give arguments about how many people can afford a ticket for a World Cup.
85 he World Cup, as we all know, is T something important for the world. Everyo-
ne, or the vast majority, is very excited for this. But, can everyone see, enjoy or buy a ticket for a world cup? Are they economically “acceptable” to afford it? I think that the worldcup is a great event and show, but... it is just another way of capitalism and neoliberalism. Why? Because everyone could feel it, but not everyone could buy a ticket, or see
the matches on a TV. So, a world cup isn't for everyone, it's not global. Because not everyone has the possibility to go, to buy a ticket. On the other side, the capitalism take advantage of the people who love the sport, the worldcup and their countries. And the tickets are sold at very high cost. That's why it is very controversial.

people can afford a ticket for a world cup ? How many
s everybody knows, every four A years, 32 football teams have the possibility
of fighting for getting the World Cup, the biggest football prize. By the time, the first “World Cup” was disputed in 1930; there were totalitarian governments (Fascism, Nazism, Francoism and Stalinism), characterized by their power and influence, so much that in 1934 and 1938, Italy won the World Cup. Today, that power/influence doesn’t exist but there are other problems. Since the middle of the previous century, two new economic and social systems “Capitalism” and “Socialism” have governed the life of every citizen. Capitalism is the biggest economic and social system that manages everything in the
world, like the World Cup. Can everybody afford a ticket for a World Cup? Are they expensive or cheap? Unfortunately, not everybody can afford a ticket. What is the reason? The reason is capitalism. In a world managed by capitalism, only a few can afford and enjoy this kind of event. In my opinion, the World Cup is an excellent and wonderful event but it is governed by capitalism. Capitalism is necessary for living in a country but if it is not regulated, it can become a real problem.

n his book George Orwell proposes a new social organization where the society members were equal, making a comparison with the Russian Revolution, but‌ is it possible when examples like this, that have adopted the Communist system, have failed? At first, it is necessary to say that in general, all societies are stratified into different social classes where people are set depending on the economical situation or personal skills that each one has. Considering this information it is possible to think that stratification is a necessity that human beings have in order to live together.

IMALS BUT SOME A L S ARE UAL THAN OTHERS On the other hand, although Communism implies the establishment of social equality, it frequently happens that the political leader becomes this social organization into totalitarian regime; it means that he or she carries it out in an extreme way. In these cases, the authority acts in benefit of his or her own ambition. Finally, another point to analyze could be that it wouldn’t be fair that someone who works harder or is better prepared earned the same money or had the same benefits that another who doesn’t; which is a problem that Communism has to face. In conclusion, there are many reasons to affirm that Communism is more of a utopia than a system that may be implemented successfully in reality. This is because it presents multiple failures, some of which are directly linked to these particular characteristics of human beings.

nimal Farm is a novel published A in 1945 by George Orwell. This writer
always criticised every political posture. Even though, he was a socialist, he was never in agreement with how the socialism and the communism were installed in Russia. And that’s what we can appreciate in this novel, a clear reference of the disaster of the Russian Revolution. As you go on with the reading, you can see an obvious reference to the main exponents of the revolution such as Napoleon, Snowball and Old Major, who represent Stalin, Trotsky and Lenin respectively. The animals have the same ideals and values as them. Also just as what happened in real life, animals were divided into the ones who leaded –had more powerand the ones who worked hard. The last ones were deceived by the convenience of the people who ruled and then became slaves of the system again. As we already know, communism was the new political, economical and social system installed in Russia in 1917.
In connection with that, Animalism was created in Animal Farm, which –as communism- was against any way capitalism worked in. It was supposed that with this new organization, animals like people would live in better and equal conditions. Another thing to point out is the representation of the Czar Nicholas II as Mr. Jones, an old man who ruled the farm. They both were dictators who lived in pure luxury while the population was starving and never made the right choices. That was ended when he was expelled from the farm and a new system was installed, hoping it would be better than the previous one. There’s no point in arguing that this novel is not a reference or a parody of what actually happened back in 1917. The characters as well as the plot are based on true facts and that’s why it’s easy to understand and to relate to the true story.

On the other hand, so many countries like Brazil, Argentina and Mexico have a lot of conflicts with hooligans and they still cannot find a solution to stop these situations which just damage their societies and the sport itself. For example, on the last World Cup, in Russia, some Argentinian people try to get into a stadium when they did not have tickets. However, these conflicts came because of corruption from football clubs and their authorities who pay to some people to create disturbs. In conclusion, football as a sport is so beautiful and creates amazing sensations on people who enjoy it, but as society we need to create awareness of the consequences of being fanatics of a specific club because we can cause a big damage to our society and to the sport.

ned the international community since 1930, but football has been in our lives for many years. Football is the most important sport in a lot of societies. Children seem to be almost born with a ball on their feet. That is why the majority of the boys and girls start getting into football clubs when they are young, and it creates a good atmosphere for them, which keep them away from social conflicts such as drugs. In addition, football is also the key for people to meet other people when they go to see or to play a football match.
