Soror Vonetta Martin, National Executive Director “Leaving But Not Goodbye” Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, members and friends, help me along with the National Executive Board say a parting farewell of gratitude, to outgoing Executive Director, Soror Vonetta Martin. She served the Executive Board and the organization outstandingly well and effectively over the past 8 years. Her last day as Executive Director is December 31, 2023. Soror Martin served the Executive Board as Executive Director under the leadership of WRQ’s Stephanie Dilworth and Dorothy White. She is currently serving as President of Gamma Chapter and supporting the State of Maryland as the Assistant Director of Applications for the Department of Human Services through OTHS. She has been transitioning the National Headquarters office over the past couple of months. She will continue to support Iota with our efforts around MemberPlanet and a Headquarters feasibility study. Please join us with wishing warm blessings and continued success to Soror Vonetta Martin in all of her endeavors. IOTA PHI LAMBDA SORORITY GOOD HEALTH WINS HIGHLIGHTS! By Soror Ann Terrell
Zeta Theta Chapter
In August, Zeta Theta Chapter of Charlotte, NC, participated in two back-to-school events. At Sterling Elementary School, they adopted the 3rd grade class and provided GHWs vaccine information along with school supplies. They partnered with the Grier Heights Back to School Drive for the Villa Court Apartments. Free school supplies were given to every child, to include toiletry items for the youth. The members of Zeta Theta also helped bring awareness of the importance of vaccinations to the parents of the K-12 students.
Zeta Omicron Chapter participated in the 10th Annual Women in Jazz Festival sponsored by Valley Arts and Entertainment on September 9th, 2023. The Huntsville, Alabama festival features both established jazz artists and emerging talents to enhance/increase the arts exposure of women in jazz. The venue provided Zeta Omicron the opportunity to host a tent where they shared information about the importance of vaccinations and distributed handouts on the importance of vaccinations to over 200 attendees. Each person in attendance received a swag bag that contained bottles of water, hand sanitizer and face masks, all labeled with the GHWs logo.
Gamma Mu Chapter, in collaboration with NCNW Mary McLeod Bethune Los Angeles Section, adopted Ralph M. Parsons Pre-School for back to school on September 12th. Sorority members and Section members donated school supplies that included construction paper, paint, posterboard, tissue paper, paintbrushes and play dough cutters for the youth. Gamma Mu Chapter also purchased 48 aprons with the Good Health WINs and Iota Logos printed on them. The Parents Meeting and Back to School Event was attended by 77 parents. Each parent received vaccination information for their kindergarten and preschool students.

Alpha Lambda Chapter
On Saturday, September 16th, Alpha Lambda Chapter participated in the Peace Fair with Margaret's Village, a provider of transitional housing for women & children's Shelter on the southside of Chicago. Participants enjoyed good music by DJ Realty, The Jesse White Tumblers, 3 of the original Drummers from 64th Street Beach, and poetry readings. Alpha Lambda Sorors shared GHWs information and the importance of vaccines for all ages. There were approximately 45 community residents in attendance including the new alderman for the 6th Ward, William Hall, who also heard about the Good Health WINs initiative.
On September 23rd Zeta Phi Chapter in Houston, TX held a Business and Health Summit to assist the community with understanding how to start or grow a business and the connection to healthy staff and community. The entrepreneurs and business owners were offered medical/healthcare information regarding vaccinations, annual checkups, healthy eating habits and mental health. The partners included Fallbrook Church, members of the Divine, HCA and local Black physicians, including Dr. Braxton Montgomery. There were 70 people in attendance.

Sorors On The Move In this edition of our newsletter, we shine a spotlight on Soror Jakita Miller, of Gamma Delta chapter, whose creativity has significantly enriched our sorority experience. Her creation of the slogan "Soror On The Move" has been spreading like wildfire and infusing our sorority with newfound enthusiasm. With an impressive 4 year tenure as a dedicated member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Soror Miller has exemplified commitment and passion for our shared values. Notably, Soror Miller's role as the Chapter Journalist has not only showcased her writing, but also earned her well-deserved recognition. In July 2023, she was honored with the prestigious National Journalist Award, a testament to her talents and contributions. Beyond her journalistic achievements, Soror Miller has taken on a leadership role as the Chair of the Social Media subcommittee, playing a pivotal part in our online presence. Congratulations, Soror Miller, on your well-deserved success! We eagerly look forward to witnessing the continued impact of your remarkable contributions in the future.
