Purpose Statement As leaders of the student body at Indian River State College, we partner with administration, faculty and staff to educate students in a way that inspires them to reach out in service to one another and to make possibilities a reality. Our goal is to build a foundation that provides the tools necessary to encourage students to demand a high standard of personal excellence that will then empower them to transform their community. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA) links representatives from over 60 student clubs, organizations and athletic teams into a coalition refl ecting the varied social, career and age interests of students in a state college. SGA exists to represent and act in the interest of all students at IRSC. Duties of the SGA include: • providing leadership development opportunities; • promoting, coordinating and supporting college-wide activities; • recommending students for College standing committees and special committees; • recommending allocation of SGA monies to cover on-campus and community activities; • providing suggestions for improving student life; and • serving as offi cial student government representatives of Indian River
