HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER–Massey Campus, Building U
The Health and Wellness Center strives to reduce health-related barriers to learning via health services and educational events. Staffed by a registered nurse with a Ph.D. in Human Services, an assistant with a Master’s degree in Social Work, a COVID-19 Medical Response Specialist, and clerical employee; the center offers treatment for illnesses, injuries, emergency care, counseling, and referrals to community-based specialists. The Coordinator provides nursing assessment of acute and health issues. Visits to branch campuses are available for students without transportation to the Massey campus. Mental health services are supported by the PEACE Program (Providing Education and Awareness about College Emotional Health), a SAMHSA suicide prevention grant.
Students exposed or infected with COVID-19 receive counseling and support consistent with CDC and Florida Department of Health recommendations. In addition, the Center adheres to the American College Health Association’s Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education.
