Student/Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, March 21, beginning at 12:30 p.m. and Friday March 22, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Thursday is a half-day of classes; students will be dismissed at 11:05 (grades 6-12) and 11:10 (grades PK-5). School lunch will not be served on Thursday and the buses will depart on at 11:20 a.m. There will be no classes on Friday. Elementary parents may schedule their conference by signing up on the sheet outside their teacher’s classroom. Middle and high school parents should fill out the attached form to indicate the teachers with whom they’d like to meet. We strongly encourage parents and students to take advantage of this opportunity to touch bases with their teachers and set goals for the next trimester.

Luck of the Leprechaun, March 21 for PK-3

By popular demand, Student Government will entertain PK-3rd grade children on the first day of conferences, beginning at 11:10, when school is dismissed, until 3:00 p.m. Children will be treated to lunch, arts and crafts and a movie. Cost is $10 for one child, $15 for two, and $20 for three or more in the same family. To sign up, stop by the Office or register online at http://diamondmindinc. com/island.html. Griffin & Friends Art Opening This Friday

The Island School ohana is invited to attend the opening of the art exhibit, Griffin & Friends, Friday, March 8th, from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists Gallery in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center. It will include a wide array of Griffin’s artwork, as well as the work of twenty-five of her Island School classmates. Pupu and refreshments will be served and there will be entertainment. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, March 23. It is free and will be open to the public from 12:30 to 3:00 Saturday through Thursday, 12:30 to 8:00 on Friday. Griffin is curating the show as part of her senior project. She will be attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago this fall.

Middle School Dance Tomorrow

Parent permission forms are due today for students who plan on attending the Middle School Dance

Trimester 2 Has Ended! On to Trimester 3!

Monday, March 11, marks the beginning of trimester 3. Report cards for trimester 2 classes will be sent via email on March 15th to all parents and to students in middle and high school grades. Please note that we are not printing hard copies of report cards. If you need one, please contact the Office and we will print one for you.

Teacher’s Aide for 5th

Join us in welcoming Adam Beetles to our staff as Cindy’s aide. Originally from Canada, he graduated from the Royal Roads University, Victoria, B.C., where he was a President’s Scholar, majoring in commerce. During summers, he has worked with Elizabeth Scamahorn in the Jeanne Warburton Memorial Literacy Clinic. His particular skill is math, in which he has tutored students both in Canada and on Kaua‘i.
