Tickets are now on sale in the Island School Office for the spring chorus concert, “Keep Calm And Sing Show Tunes.” 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at KCC PAC. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students in grades 4-8. Island School high school students get in free at the door with their school ID; other high school students are $5. Students in grade 3 and under are free. Patrons are advised to buy tickets in advance rather than wait to buy them at the door.
If you’re 18 to 30 and looking for a career that’s good for you and the ‘aina, this free program might be for you. The 10-week program provides young adults with environmental literacy training, career services support and placement into a 100-hour internship! High School Prom May 17: Purchase Tickets Before Prices Go Up Saturday
The event, “007,” will be held at the Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The Prom Contract is on page 6 and contains detailed information regarding attire, guests, check-in, security and safety, types of dancing permitted and behavioral expectations. Parents are asked to read this form carefully, initial and sign it. Forms need to be turned in with payment. Click Here for important dates For all grades: • Kaua‘i Hospice Tour of Homes is in need of parking attendants at 10 extraordinary Kaua‘i island properties spanning from Kilauea to H‘aena. The tour is on May 18 (Sunday after prom), from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are requesting two students, or student/parent teams, per home. All volunteers are invited to the reception at the Wai‘oli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei from 4 to 5 p.m. They also need a few students to help set-up and clean-up at the reception. This is a great opportunity for all Kilauea to Ha‘ena students to get nine community service hours close to your home. COMING OF AGE: This class is designed to educate, companion and support young girls (ages 11-13) in our community who are coming of age. During this six-class series they will explore female physiology and anatomy, hormones, body image, menstruation and the emotional body. This will be done in a safe and nurturing environment and will be taught largely through drawing, painting, handwork and dramatization. The girls will leave with a hand-made book filled with creative visuals and written testaments of their experience during the class.
