Middle School Play Opens Tomorrow!

Summer Skills Workbooks
Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy shows are Friday and Saturday, May 18 & 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Island School Theatre. Playing the role of Flute will be special guest stars, Eric Devlin (Friday) and Ernie Blachowiak (Saturday).
Road Closure Today plus Puhi Intersection Detours You might have noticed that the Kilohana/Kaua‘i Community College access road to Island School has been blocked by a large crane from 6:00 a.m. and will continue to be blocked until 5:00 p.m. Vehicles coming in or out of Island School via this route will be turned around. Vehicles must utilize the Puhi intersection for the day. And starting last Tuesday, the northbound lane of Puhi Road, approaching Kaua‘i Community College, will be closed continuously between the Puhi Park entrance and Kaumuali‘i Highway for road construction for approximately four weeks. Puhi Road traffic in the northbound direction will be detoured on Kaneka Street and Nuhou St. as an alternate route to Kaumuali‘i Highway.
Summer Skills books are for students in PreK through high school and must be ordered by next Wednesday, May 23. For more information go to www.summerskills. com. Order forms are available in the Office and on RenWeb under “Resource Documents.” Samples are available in the Office. Books will be distributed to your student before the summer break.

Junior Lifeguard Program
Registration for this program is free and designed to teach ocean safety and lifesaving skills to children 13-17 years old. There are five island wide sites scheduled for this summer. NHS Installation Tuesday
New members of Island School’s chapter of the National Honor Society will be installed in a ceremony on Tuesday, May 22, in the Frear Center. Members and their guests should arrive between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. Guest speaker will be Island School Board member Mary L. Capwell, who is the chair of Academic Affairs and Activities. Prior to retirement, Ms Capwell was the superintendent of the Greenwich, CT, Public Schools.
