Churros For Sale

Members of High School Spanish Club will be selling snacks during lunch break two days a week, on B-days. Available for purchase will be churros and ice tea from the freshman lounge during the month of October. Last year’s sale was so successful they sold out in 20 minutes! Items are $2 each.

Car Wash Sat. October 22

At King Auto - to benefit Island School Alaka’i Chorus Trip to O’ahu. 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Cars -$8.00; Trucks/Vans - $10.00 Tickets available from Island School Alaka’i Chorus members and the front Office. The car wash scheduled on that day by the Athletics Dept. has been postponed.

Don’t Stay Thirsty, My Friends

Our Flo Water refilling station stands at the ready to quench all ages of thirst. Your children only need a refillable water bottle and a quarter (or more, depending on the size of their bottle). This chilled and 6-times filtered water has replaced plastic water bottles and plastic classroom water jugs in an effort to produce less plastic waste and to keep our water free from plastic contaminants. So drink up and enjoy!

Glee Give a Note Contest

The Island School Alaka’i Chorus is officially entered in the “Glee Give a Note” contest, and we need your help to be among the schools who win

$50,000. Island School freshman, Jacob Dysinger, completed a short video over break and you can view it online at http://www.gleegiveanote. com/vote_details.php?id=164. Click on VOTE - you can vote EVERY DAY! Post the link to your social networking sites and send it to your email lists. Even though we’re a tiny school, our network is huge. Funds raised will be used to expand our popular chorus programs. We can do this!

Art Day Supplies Needed

All sizes of plastic containers are needed, with and without lids. Lots of brown coconuts - for a coconut painting project. Please contact Penny at penny@ ischool.org, or drop them off in the Art Room.

School Pictures Retake Next Wednesday

Make Up/Retake Day is Wednesday, October 19. Students who did not have their school picture taken earlier this year should fill out the order form and bring it on Wednesday. Students who are not satisfied with their school photos are welcome to return their portrait package and retake their picture at no additional charge. Order forms are available in the Office.

Click on the Calendar tab on our website. about the McGruff I.D. System which creates safety identification cards with photos and fingerprints. Orders must be turned in no later than Wednesday. Extra I.D. order forms are available in the Office if any high school students are interested.

Cross Country Help Needed

Thank you to those who assisted with the last Cross Country Meet. We are again asking for your help with this Saturday’s Cross Country Meet. It is the KIF Championship meet, therefore more volunteers are needed. If you are available from 8:00 to about 11:30 a.m., please contact Jen at jenp@ischool.org. This is the final meet of the year. If you haven’t had the chance to see our Voyager runners please come, volunteer and cheer for the Voyagers!

Parking Kokua

Four parking spaces between the Frear and the keiki playground have been coned off in order to widen the driveway and ease traffic flow and safety concerns. No parking will be allowed there at any time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

McGruff Visits Next Week Students in PK-1 will meet with McGruff the Crime Dog on Wednesday to learn how to identify a dangerous stranger. Those in grades 2-5 will learn about bicycle and pedestrian safety. Information was passed out to students in PK-8
