Solar Project Nears Completion

Halloween Plans

The crew from RecSolar pulled the cable from the solar panels to the box this week as our solar project gets ready to go online. The system will be tested tomorrow and if all is well, we should be online very soon. Pictured below are Jess Crane, Charlie Jeffries, Justin Sanborn, Gary Capozolla, and Nathan Keanini.

All School Pep Rally Nov. 2

Student Government will recognize our KIF fall athletes on Friday afternoon with the year’s first pep rally. As the final day of Spirit Week, students may dress in red, white and blue in honor of the upcoming elections. We will invoke our newly created Assembly Schedule, which creates a 60 minute assembly period at the end of the day by taking 15 minutes from each block.

Island School Announces Yearbook Cover Art Contest For middle and high school students. The winning Island School student artist will receive $50, recognition in the Parent Connection, credit in the yearbook masthead, plus a free copy of the yearbook. Rules are attached to this week’s PC. Contact Judah Freed for more information at judah@ ischool.org. Contest deadline for all submissions is Friday, November 30.

Island School students celebrate Halloween at all grade levels. While regularly scheduled classes are held as usual, the day (and week) is generously sprinkled with costumes and festivities. Na Pua Keiki - Wednesday, Oct. 31 • Costume Parade - 9:00 a.m., followed by the Monster Mash, with games, Halloween activities and dancing. • Lunch graciously provided by the Errico Family. Parents are organizing and leading activities. Elementary - Wednesday, Oct. 31 • Pumpkin Decorating Display: children are encouraged to carve or decorate a pumpkin, fruit or vegetable of their choice and bring it to their class for display. Student Council will acknowledge all creations with certificates. • Bring costumes to school and change after lunch. • Costume Parade - Central Courtyard, 1:15 p.m. with photo ops for parents • Class parties - Immediately following the parade; parents are organizing food and decorations in each homeroom class. MS & HS- Week of Oct. 29 • Spirit Week (see schedule below) • Mock Election: Students will “register” at school and vote online. Results will be announced at the Pep Rally, Friday. • Costume Contest - Oct. 31, during morning meeting. Spirit Week Schedule: Monday: Camouflage (Armed Forces Support) Tuesday: Pink (Breast Cancer Awareness) Wednesday: Halloween costumes Thursday: Aloha Shirts
