Tenting Over Break
Look out, termites. Your days are numbered. The Main Hall is being tented on Dec. 22 & 23. The Office and Elementary Courtyard areas will be closed off as well.
Holiday Sing-Along
Rosie will lead the elementary students at our annual Holiday Sing-Along tomorrow, starting at 8:00 a.m. Parents and guests are welcome. Each Elementary grade will be singing their own special song PK-5th, in languages including Japanese, Hawaiian, Latin, and Hebrew.

The class of 2012 will kick off a “Lucky Drawing” Fundraiser tomorrow, Dec. 16th. Tickets are available from all seniors (suggested donation $5). The drawing will be held in January. Willy Ellenburg bid us goodbye yesterday after 61/2 years on the Island School maintenance crew. His skill set is vast, and has included everything from repairing to building to bus-driving to bus-maintenance to making lunch in a pinch. SENIOR UPDATE – Noah Leggett has been accepted at University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. Jasmine Libert has been accepted at Linfield College, in McMinnville, OR. Rachel Ofner was accepted to Concordia Univesity in Irvine, California! Christina King has been accepted at Chaminade Univeristy in Honolulum where she was awarded a President’s Scholarship. Congratulations! MATH – Mrs. Massaro gives her students “partner tests” to help them learn the concepts. This week, her pre-calculus and pre-algebra classes took their partner tests; after break, Algebra II and College Algebra students will take theirs. Island School students & teachers love to sing. The holidays are especially filled with songs. Congratulations to Philip Steinbacher, Rose Alfiler, and the more than 100 students in grades 4-12 who sang their hearts out at Tuesday’s winter concert, Christmas Old & New. They filled our hearts with the holiday spirit.
SingAlong. They’ll be singing songs in several languages. Quite impressive! Parents are welcome to join in at the end with holiday favorites.
