Island support in times of need..
When disaster strikes as it did on Salt Spring Island this June when Windsor Plywood suffered a devastating fire, islanders responded swiftly and proficiently, extinguishing the blaze and protecting nearby structures and property. Neighbours and local businesses provided emotional support, food and beverages, and labour. Donations for affected staff were gratefully accepted. In response the business expressed support for the community, contractors and other customers and within a heartbeat continued to sell building supplies from their alternate premise and in days, moved two new buildings onto the yard adjacent to the burned building and reopened for business. Because, as a community we stand together, disasters can be softened and bonds strengthened. We share losses and celebrate successes with our neighbours. This is the essence of island life.

Along the roadsides blackberries creep into neglected spaces and tangle together in an impenetrable and prickly jungle. They offer a gift of late summer fruit to any who dares to reach in and pick.
It is their gift for use of the land. ~ 18 ~

A Message from Myles and Norman
The real estate market continues to be very robust. The lack of inventory is generating a lot of attention on appropriately valued listings coming into the marketplace. It's hard to gauge how long this market is going to continue, but we suspect that we are going to see continued pressure for Salt Spring Island properties at least until interest rates begin to move up, which is being predicted for the spring of next year. If you're curious about the current value of your home or property, please do not hesitate to call or email for an informed discussion. We have both seen similar run ups (and the subsequent downturn) in our careers. We can bring some clarity to your decision-making in regard to the marketing of your home or property. ~ 22 ~ Prime Locaon 151 EstablishedLower Clientele, Ganges Road $175,000 MLS#826731

SUMMER 2021
SalishSeaRealEstate.ca
Early summer intoxicates Islanders ...human and animal. A warm gust breezes across the field and dances with the daisies by the fence. They flutter and dip in its embrace. Buttercups dot the lawn and reach up with bright abandon. Shy lawn daisies tuck themselves demurely in the grass while they spread their crowning blossoms into the reach of any child who wants to make a daisy chain. Forests cover much of the Islands with an intricate tapestry of textures and shades of green. Mighty firs stand tall and sharp while dark cedars, grandmothers of the woods, wrap themselves in soft dark covers. Occasionally, a burst of red indicates a deciduous neighbour. Pale spar trees stand tall and sharp long after they have died, providing lookouts for eagles and a resting spot from their silent flights over the green expanse. From the strait sailers see an occasional window glint through the curtain of trees, evidence of a secluded home tucked deep in the forest. On cool days a fresh breeze makes children tug on their sweaters. Gentle raindrops dampen the soft earth and grassy carpet beneath our feet. Plump banana slugs and rough skinned newts crawl bravely onto our paths. Lush growth seems to fill every available space. Overhead, the sky is hazy. But islanders are resilient and continue to work in their gardens and walk along the trails undeterred. Tomorrow, they say will be warmer.
