DEADLINE Work deadlines are the followed: - 3 days from final artwork reception to send a PDF to approve. - 7 working days from approval until a colorproof reception. - 4 weeks until label reception in ITC-Packaging

TECHNICAL GUIDELINES The suitable way to send the files is in Illustratos (.ai) or InDesign (.indd), since we could edit aspects needed. In case you are not able to send these formats, please send a high resolution PDF. There are some technical aspects that you shoud take into account when you send the files: -If your label has pictures, they should be in high resolution, it means, 300 ppi. In case that file won’t be .ai or .indd the pictures should be attached in order to avoid resolution problems. -If label text it is not vectorized (it means, turn into picture) you should include the font file. -The picture should respect the bleed area and also security distance named in followed chapters. -Please avoid if possible putting text or pictures either next to the edge, or split or injection points.

TECHNICAL DETAILS AREAS AND LIMITS To start your label creation, we can provide the cutter guide more convenience for your project. Once you have the cutter guide, please adapt the label respecting the following areas:

Security Area (3mm)

Label Area

Bleed (minimum 3mm)

Label area: in this space you should include your label picture. Security margin: Please do not include text in this area. The label cut is never exact, so that we use the security margin. All these elements placed in this area could be parcially cut. Bleed: If you want your label to have bleeding (background color over the entire label) must provide at least 3mm more on the label. In case that your label has a rounded shape, that should be 5mm.

DESIGN SUGGESTIONS As the label cut it is not exact ( it has a +-1,5mm tolerance) we suggest, if design allowed it, not to use colour areas. An inaccurate area can create an off-centre effect.

QUESO

TECHNICAL DETAILS TEXT To avoid problems the text should be converted to images. If you don’t do it, please attach the font file. The minimum readable text size is 6pt. and 7pt in black, colour or several colour background. In milimeters, it is 1.2.

PICTURES The pictures should be sent at 300 ppi to assure the correct quality. This aspect is very important because if the picture it is not in a proper resolution could adquire an “ pixel” aspect. The color mode should be always CMYK, the RGB mode it is not suitable in imprint, the use is limmeted to screen display.

COLOURS AND INKS There are some aspect to take into account when you choose the label colours: -It can be a maximum of 8 colours, what includes 4 inks of CMYK. -If you decide to use a transparent label, please take into account that to have the desired result, 2 white back inks will be used which means 2 less colours. -Take into account the possibility of Pantone inks in speciphic areas. For example, we recommend to use Pantone inks in small texts to avoid lack of focus. -The varnishes and the special ink are counted as an extra color.

DESIGN REMARKS Extra inks make more expensive the final product; please take into account at the time to choose the colours to be used on the label. On one hand, there are cases that it is absolutely necessary to use Pantone inks and there are cases where must be employ due to the design. On the other hand, there are cases that they will not have a noticeable effect. In these cases we recommend to use CMYK. If your design contains lines (please find an example at the picture) it is possible that due to the cut tolerance, on the rear part the lines don’t match totally, even for millimeters, because the label suffers always shifts. This is an important factor to take into account when the label has the mentioned lines, colour bars, or element that must be fixed at the label link zone. When this shift could be a problem to your product, please avoid to user this resource. It is also important that element are not placed on injection point ( which is tagged in the cutter guide) because the label always becomes more transparent in this colour and the container colour appears.

CMYK AND PANTONE WHAT ARE THEY? When we talk about CMYK we mean the colour system using 4 inks ( cyan, magenta, yellow, black). Almost every colour can be created with this system.

This system is always used in fotography, which means that if your design has a picture it will contain minimum 4 colours. Most part of the colours can be built up with CMYK system, but if you preffer you can use Pantone Inks for your design. The pantone inks are standardize inks. Meanwhile the final result in CMYK press depend on several factors, the Pantone colours are “ absolutes”. It means that if a specific colour is needed by your logo, text, etc… we recommend to use them, because the final result will be never different than the chosen colour.

It is very important to know that the screen display is never 100% reliable. If you have any doubt about the final colour, we can send colour proofs. To count on the used colours: - Minimum 4 colour if CMYK is used. - 2 extra colours when there are transparent area. - 1 extra colour per Pantone.

COLOUR PROOF/ TIMING COLOR PROOF The color proof will be given to you in case you need it. In this proof, you will see an almost perfect printing of your label. Note that the proof will never be 100% exact, but it’s a very useful reference. In case that your design has a Pantone, we will give you a sampler of the exact ink. Once you receive the proof (if it’s ok) you should sign it and send it back to ITC. We will use it a validation. This proof could be used in the future as a color reference.

TIMING The process of receiving and managing labels is as follows: -Artworks reception at ITC. -Creation of the PDF’s for approval. -Approval by the client. -Color proof validation. -Start the printing process. The estimated time to create the PDF’s it’s 3 days. At this point, the process keeps on waiting to your approval. Once we have it, we will order the color proofs or we will go on to the printing process in case you don’t need the proof. Please, have in mind that in ITC we can not make design changes, that’s why you should doble check that everything it’s OK in the label. Every time that we change the label the process restarts again, with it’s time loss.

OBSERVATIONS

AVOID THE MIXING Despite the exhaustive methods of security printing, it is a fact that the labels can be mixed if they had a similar design. To avoid mixing labels when injecting the container, you can use differential points in each design, so our cameras in the injection machinery can separate the different labels. If your order consists of several labels with similar designs, contact us and we will advise the best way to use these differential points.

VERIFICATIONS We will check in your label the following aspects: -Size, bleed and security limits. -Colours and inks. -Resolution. -Text. We will adapt your label to the appropiate cutting line and we will contact you in case that we detect any error.

CONTACT In case you have any doubt, don’t hesitate to contact us: asune@itc-packaging.com We hope that this guide helps you.
